Why?

Could have had it in San Diego with the Quacks. How about Reno? Lake Tahoe at night?

I actually take the Amtrak down to SD once a year because it's amazing to not take have to take the vehicle and endure the road for once. Also, the scenery is always pleasant and some good food in downtown SD.

Lake Tahoe wouldn't be a bad idea either.

I agree but feel like a stronger healthy Turcotte could bring you what Hyman or a Iaffalo type could. He’s smart and has a high motor.

There is going to be a huge bidding war for Hyman's services if he hits the open market. I don't agree with the hyperbolic takes expressed here, but I've been saying it for years, he is one of the most underrated players in the league.

In order to get him to move west, to a higher tax state than other offers he might get, to play for a bottom feeder the Kings may have to make him such a big offer that his value is diminished because his cap hit is so high.

I've heard rumors he doesn't want to leave Toronto and may take less to make it happen. If you had told me in 2013 that Zach Hyman would be a sought after NHL FA in 2021 I would have suggested you be 5150'ed. Props to him for working his ass off and props to the guy who "didn't know how to develop players" for developing the hell out of him.

I always found it funny that Vegas and SLC share the same major highway, like talk about totally different towns.

I think Utah did away with 3.2 beer though, I toured the Miller brewery with a buddy a couple years ago and our tour guide said they used to have to specifically brew it but that was ending sometime soon.

I'm with you, I'd rather it be in SD vs the Ducks. That would be cool.

Can someone give me an update on Cole Caulfield?

He's currently the playoff sexy pick
He's still small
He's scored a total of ONE playoff goal and has 5 career playoff points
He's played a total of 10 nhl games.

They should simply make it an annual tradition that the Kings play Vegas on the last weekend of the pre-season to keep the tradition going.

That was a Kings event and not a Colorado event. Putting it in SLC makes it closer to Vegas but still not desirable to either fan base. Kings have played in Utah numerous times in the past anyways.

i'm gonna put the hard f***in pass on going to SLC regardless of the reason

never went to FF myself but that just seems like a bad choice

It's not frozen fury if it's not in Vegas. Never had a chance to go to one of the original frozen furys, but it seemed like a great time. I've been to SLC before and it's a nice city and enjoyed it there, but it's not going to same spectacle as Vegas

I demand a game in Vegas at the crappy old MGM arena, so we can have a walk of shame for Vegas fans.

How about Barstow? It's right in between, and there's an In-N-Out.

Like @Herby said, can't imagine two more different towns

I can't imagine there's a Hofbrauhaus in SLC to get spanked at while completely blasted hours before walking through the casino gauntlet to the dingy arena.

I actually like SLC, some great whiskey bars there, but it's not the Frozen Fury vibe AT ALL. Plus their spotless clean air and city hurt my nostrils and eyes. I can't have anything that pure after years of building up my natural filters.

Trying to grow the game in other markets. Reno/Lake Tahoe, while cool spots, are not big enough markets at all. I think it's less about the fan experience and much, much more about market growth for the NHL and these teams in general.

Back in the day (my college times), i was a roadie for a punk band. We were in St. George for a Sunday night show (from Colorado) before hitting Vegas immediately after the show for several days/shows in LV. We stopped at a market that Sunday afternoon to get some snacks and mainly for alcohol that night. There was a cart full of hard alcohol that was super marked down -- basically giving it away. I was soo stoked. Got to the register and they said it's against State law to sell alcohol on Sunday and i'd have to come back the day to buy. My dreams were crushed.
That's all I remember about Utah. Actually the show was great in St. George -- it was a great punk scene (back then at least) even though i was sober that night.
