Lemieux came into a new city and a new team during a pandemic. It’s not like he could even get to know the guys outside the dressing room. Most the players had pretty much packed it in and there was not a lot of energy/ fans around.

willing to give him another look next year. We need grit and agitation which I believe he will provide. The game is a whole different animal with fans.

I'd be fine with any combo of Sam Reinhart (RFA), Brandon Saad, Michael Bunting, Zach Hyman or Jaden Schwartz. I think all are realistic targets.

I think someone earlier mentioned Zach Bogosian on the backend. I like that idea. He's been pretty good ever since he got out of Buffalo..shocking, I know .

Come on guys, the Lemieux thing was pretty obviously not real, sheesh. The point was only that I'd rather have a Stoll/Greene sort of trade than 'more talent' at this stage, not that we're literally going to clone Lemeiux 11 times. I can't believe I even have to say that.

And re: Doughty he's had exactly 1.5 bad years in an otherwise 1st ballot hall of fame career, the people holding that against him at this point are being as ridiculous as the Swedish contingent that's been hating on him since 2015.

I keep seeing people mention these names, and I get it, they probably are the more realistic options, but I don’t see these guys being big difference makers, and also see them likely struggling with us offensively like most others do when coming to LA…

fair...I was against the trade when it happened so am biased against it working out haha

Tarasenko is interesting as a fit on the Kings. He’s owed $9.5M in salary next season. That’s a fat chunk for any team to swallow, but the next year he’s owed $5.5 M in the last year of his deal. He’ll be 31 years old at the end of it, so he could be young enough to bounce back from his injuries. Similar to a Willie Mitchell and Justin Williams.

A package for him and Vince Dunn might be possible. Maybe for Kupari and MacDermid if the Kings take the full salary.

Don't go backwards. I agree with the Lemeiux take. The Kings need some heart.

Kings wound up trading the 103rd pick in this draft for Lemieux, a guy that provides an element that nobody on the current team or in the pipeline does unless you believe Imama could be as good of a player at the NHL level. Zero issue with the trade. Guy also seemed more pumped for Kopitar's 1,000th point than anyone else on the team. An entire offseason and training camp with his teammates could lead us to see more of the physical play we expected. That said, he still KO'd Manson and then went ahead and put a nice open-ice hit on an Avs player during a 30-1 loss when he could have just packed it in like the rest of the team.

It is a low risk move with some upside for a decent reward as it relates to the soft culture of this team. When you factor in that the Kings have the 108th pick in this draft via the Forbort deal, the asset used to get him is really nothing to worry about.

They don't need difference makers. They need quality NHL depth. None of which requires altering any plans with Byfield or Turcotte. A new cast. Not one intimately familiar with the beach yet.

You don't jump from terrible to contender. DL had a black hole team for a couple years, and was still well on his way to having that in 11-12 before he got desperate and things managed to work out. That's all it did. Sutter was not part of any plan. Carter was not part of any plan.

Being a real contender is not a goal you can set. It emerges over time. If the Kings get swept in the 1st rd next year, but don't touch any important prospect while doing so, that's a win.

This is all they were going to do until they were 30th in late Jan 2019. That was the worst showing from that general group in a decade. Even the 16-17 team was better, and they were trash.

is any of Tarasneko's salary in signing bonus? Just wondering if he would cost less in actual dollars after that point

Way too many miles on that body. He just had his third shoulder surgery. Unless we are doing something like you said where it is a package and we are considering him as having very little to no value.
Almost like David Price in the Mookie trade

According to CF the answer is no. His remaining contract is all base salary, with no signing bonus portion.

He’s been rumored to on his way out of StL for a couple of seasons, with the talk dying down after the cup run. He’s Russian, so the appeal of LA may have some value as far as motivation to produce. Plus he’ll want another contract soon, so he’s incentivized to produce. Shoulders take a long time to heal, so his down performance could be a factor of slowly recovering while rushing back into the lineup to help captain a team with deep playoff aspirations.

I fear any trade for Tarasenko would be along the same lines as the Kings acquiring Steve Shutt back in the day.

Getting Tarasenko would be our very own LTIR contract.
Then flip him to TB for a 1st & they LTIR next season too?

Bargain bin guys that fit Mayor's requirements (2-3 years, established forward on the cheap), Debrusk, Zucker, Johnson, Killhorn Cirelli. Any others?

friggin lightening and 2015 Hawks.
There should be a cap in the playoffs, maybe set at % above the normal cap to allow of injuries and expanded rosters.

Just FYI, Tarasenko has only played 34 games combined in the last 2 seasons. Was 4 goals, 10 assists, 14 points, -7 in 24 this past season. Anyone who watched the COL-STL series saw that he wasn't the same superstar he used to be.

I would love Vlad in LA, but don't know if that's the kind of risk we want to take right now. Curious what the asking price is for him.

The cost would determine the risk taken.

Needs to be addressed in the next CBA. There are too many games being played with LTIR, and the length of contracts.

So what some of us have been saying. They are at the Ryan Smyth/Justin Williams stage and not the Richards/Carter stage.

Seems to me that you can aspire to the black hole or with some extra expenditure in assets aspire for the playoffs. At least if you make the playoffs at least 50% of the fans will be happy. No one will be happy with a black hole finish...tanksters least of all.
