can't steal second with your foot on first
You must not have seen that Cubs play!!!

I know we like to laugh at the Kings and their network of old players, and it's certainly there. All teams do this however, and it really has little to do with team success. Look at some of the Avalanche organization:
Joe Sakic - Played for the team
Craig Billington, AGM - Played for the team
Nolan Pratt, Asst. Coach - Played for the team
Curtis Leschyshyn, Scout - Played for the team
Wade Klippenstein, Am. Dir. Scouting - Drafted by Quebec a couple years after Sakic
Henrik Gradin, Scout - Played at Modo with Forsberg
Alexei Gusarov, Scout - Played for the team
Mitch Sakic, Asst. Video Scout - Joe's Kid
Brett Clark, Development Coach - Played for the team
Steven Reinprecht, Development Coach - Played for the team
Brian Willsie, Development Coach - Played for the team
There is also a Battaglia who directs their video scouting, seeing how Bates played in Colorado it wouldn't surprise me if there was a link
If having Brian f'n Willsie as a development coach doesn't screw up your prospects, nothing will
I don't think it's as much to do with an old boys club and doing favors to ex-teammates as much as it is being comfortable and familiar with people.
Good call. As a Russian myself, I hope it goes well.
At the risk of pissing off the entire forum yet again (RJ is a Xenophobe!), I would be incredibly shocked if 1. this wasn't simply for more leverage for a contract in the KHL and 2. if he came over and did literally anything for us.
Lol. Well playedI'd settle for the next Dominik Kubalik though.............
1. Definitely doesn't look like that's the case here. He's not a UFA trying to get a new deal in the KHL. He can't because St. Petersburg still owns his KHL rights. Remember also that he came over to NA as a teenager to play in the CHL. The Russian players that do that are the ones that want to play in the NHL eventually. At the risk of pissing off the entire forum yet again (RJ is a Xenophobe!), I would be incredibly shocked if 1. this wasn't simply for more leverage for a contract in the KHL and 2. if he came over and did literally anything for us.

I don’t how this affects the expansion draft. Do they need to protect him?Signing Tkachyov is the exact type of low risk high reward type move I expect.
I like it.
He probably won't pan out, but if he does you get a top 6 player for free.

If so they should wait and sign him after said draft
No jack Eichel because the Kings are too committed to the SUCC. How disappointing. A stanky ass team for the next foreseeable future with an incompetent panda behind the bench and Rob Blake showing his high intelligence. I loveeee this. Let's just hope @BigKing doesn't renew his season tickets.
Glad it’s “who” and not Vitali Yachmenev, Roman Vopat, and Jere Kharlati.
This is your reminder that Sakic still hasn’t won shit as a GM.Many mocked Joe Sakic 5 years ago, myself included. I certainly hope Rob and Luc prove me wrong and are where the Avalanche are in the next 4-5 years!

So your opinion is Jack Eichel or bust?
I mean I'm ready to jump ship but I'm at least willing to see what the draft and free agency hold (and even camp).
I not a Hoven fan, at all. But he absolutely has information. He has nailed a lot of shit. The problem is it is usually not player transactions. It's injuries, etc.I listened to Hoven the Hack's 1st period and he simply gave his OPINION that the Eichel talks were dead. Bernstein challenged him on that and HH said he believed the assets would be better spent elsewhere. As usual, Hoven has no information other than his opinion (which is worthless).
