I am a big Brown defender and even I think this is a bad idea.
It's kind of scary that everyone thinks it's a bad idea except for the guy who actually makes the decision.

Kopi, Brown are better together. Splitting them tanks 2 lines. Kempe draws the short straw here.
Biggest need is an exit strategy for Kopi. Can't have 2 more years of, "can't bench the capitan" like we are seeing with Brown.
i think i remember RJ saying a few weeks back something like we were "winning in spite of tmac" and i think it just misunderstood it at the time.. he is trying to tank and i was just ignorant to it until nowSo, this is what tanking looks like.

Kopitar is DFL in +/- for the Kings. Not a great sign.
And two time SC champion to boot. Great player, rich, plays a game that he loves for a living, healthy and has hockey scoreboard for life. Yeah life is good for KopiI wouldn't be mad a day in my life if I were Anze Kopitar, no matter how competitive. I'd have a 10 million dollar mansion in Manhattan Beach, stay fit and play a game I love for a living, and enjoy relative obscurity from the masses but reverence from a small crowd.
You want to trade me? Nah it's okay, go ahead and bench me or put the worst players on the rink with me, doesn't matter. I'm gonna go home and play xbox by the firepit overlooking the Pacific Ocean while you guys lose your jobs.
Well that depends… shitty reply but the team is better than last season, they have assets that can be packaged for something useful, we’ve had some very unfortunate injuries and some young players have stepped up in a huge way on D..I remember a lot of "doesn't matter we're winning" being the retort, but those folks aren't providing me with their thoughts now
I don't want it to be an "I told you so" moment, I just want to know what the thought process is when we ARENT on a winning streak over losing/struggling teams propped up by unsustainably good goaltending, I called it fool's gold at the time, but they almost even fooled me once they got to 7/beat the snot out of TO at home.
It's starting to look unfortunately a LOT like last season--which shouldn't be a surprise when it's largely the same team--but of a team that can put up great runs of play but STILL can't score, gives up leads in the third period, finds ways to lose points but almost never finds a way to win a point--gets scored on with an EN, never scores with an EN. PP actively loses games. I remember looking good for a lot of it until guys got frustrated with 'playing good but not winning' then exhaustion set in and the wheels fell the f*** off. How will we avoid that this season, and if we don't, how will we deal with it? Can you imagine what happens when Quick is only putting up .920 consistently instead of .950?
So far, the answer is to keep trying what's failed so many times in the last 4 years...
DB has been my favorite LA King since I became a Kings fan and yeah his 1st line duties should be over.I am a big Brown defender and even I think this is a bad idea.
poke too much and you might go the way of rich hammond or jon rosen, unfortunatelyThis is the point when I alway hate that our media coverage people are too nice. Wish someone would ask why does Brown get a promotion or Maatta in over Clague when we need offense from the backend. Or what benefit does it have to bury Kaliyev on the 4th line and not send him back to AHL.
Feel our reporters and bloggers are too close to the players to hurt their feelings.
So, this is what tanking looks like.
