There is no league, world, or dimension where trading a guy who is a line driver and is close to a ppg - all for a $4M cap hit - makes any sense. If you don’t think Iafallo is a top-6 I’m thinking your standards might be a bit out of reality. He’s not a top liner, sure.

The Kings are in a strange spot right now. They have such a logjam up front and such a deep club in Ontario that we could probably replace an entire line and be fine.

A lot of fans and bloggers, even the Mayor had Lemieux as the "odd" man out. I was arguing all summer. With the Kings losing MacDermid, I knew he would fit in.

The good problem right now is we have some guys that are really earning their spots that otherwise would be demoted when some players come back...Lemieux, Lizotte, Athanasiou... Personally, I keep them on as long as it works, with the exception of Kupari.
Arvidsson - Kopitar - Kempe
Iafallo - Danault - Athanasiou
Andersson - Vilardi - Brown
Lemieux - Lizotte - Moore
Mind you, that's not necessarily my preferred lineup but one that also takes into account waiver-eligibility.
So we have the following as first call-ups: Kupari, Tkachev, JAD, Kaliyev, and Byfield (when he's healthy and back to NHL -ready conditioning). That'd be my interim lineup before a trade

First off, AA is already on the Danault line so I'm not sure what you're talking about. Secondly, Iafallo has been the best King so far this season and his chemistry with Danault is unmatched. If we were going trade him, the time for that was before he signed his contract.
Come on..I am game for trying Vilardi on the right side as anyone but Brown should be in there, maybe just a straight swap for QB
The world where it makes sense is a sell high type of world. If you can get an overpayment than I trade that tan bastard.

East coast probably doesn't even know who Iafallo is, so an overpayment is not gonna happen.

Alex Iafallo is no longer just a good top six option, he's a legit first line option on any team in the league.
He was the only King to improve production every year between when he came in and now when other guys saw production drops/inconsistency.
The question was whether he was able to produce not next to Kopitar; well, he's shown he can be massively productive with a good center. His career pace before this season was about 20g, 50p--which is definitely top six production. This year, he's on pace for 35 goals and 76 points.
Please, just don't even try with the "iafallo isn't a top sixer" thing. It's a joke by every measure. Even outside the points, him and Danault and X have been the best possession line in the league.

Sometimes, I really hate this league. I can't imagine a worst place to be than in an ice-cold arena where coronavirus (all species) thrive. It's absolutely non-caring. The whole Ottawa team is going into COVID protocol and the Kings will soon have cases. Count on it.

Think of how much an overpayment type of guy would cost on the cap, though. They would have to be an underpaid type as well so it really limits those options. And Iafallo just signed so right now it's the best possible scenario with him. I agree you move him if someone makes a stupid offer, but that's not too realistic in a cap league.

Joking aside, he’s earned his place next to Danault with their step brothers type of chemistry. Last year and into this year I was open to trading him in a package but the names I mentioned were Eichel(pre-injury), Werenski, Laine, Sergachev… you get the point.. aka I woulda move him for a star/superstar..

My opinion, but with the glut of vets and journeymen, every line should be able to accommodate at least one rookie.
With everyone healthy, I'd like to see something along the lines of:

Kempe - Kupari - Athanasiou
