Only way McDavid is leaving is if he thinks things are off-track in Edmonton and not seeing a path to get better, which won't happen until he is in a clear decline at this point. And we see that top stars almost always have the patience to stick things out because of the time they've invested in where they are. And that basically becomes a decision of how he wants to see his career wind down, which whether or not the Oilers have won by then will have a significant effect.

Out of curiosity, would the Flyers consider moving Tippet or Konecny? I know they are far from the same, but just curious if there’s any appetite to trade either

I think the plane ride is significant. You can’t tell me the Flyers and players are not putting words in.

A lot of teams are going to want McDavid, but no not all of them can afford him. The flyers could be one of the better setups for him.
Cmon buddy. McDavid isn't going to consider the Flyers. He's hated them ever since the ManDog hit that separated his shoulder.
Also Briere has stated that they aren't going to go after top tier talent. They are gonna depth and culture their way to the cup

Fans: Yes. Konecny would return quality assets, and is the only high-value player for whom the Flyers could think about getting a prospect with 1C potential.

Can see it now:
Flyers trade multiple 1st round picks to Edmonton for the rights to McDavid and then sign him to an 8 year max deal.

McDavid then gets concussed on opening night, followed by 2 more concussions that season which leave him on LTIR for the rest of his deal.

Can’t wait.
Ryan Ellis says hello

LOL at the idea Mcjesus would ditch EDM to come to a Org. stuck 50 years in the past.

It’s as significant as him already being in the area and avoiding a flight back to Edmonton only to fly back to Philly the next day. Don’t read into it.

Tippett maybe in a big deal for a center, but Briere would cry at the press conference.

TK no way. His NMC starts in July, and then:

Clause Details: 14 Team No Trade List starting in 2031-32

In fact Flyers took McDavid on their charter to get his opinion on Ty Emberson and Connor Brown, whether worth they are 1st round picks
This is a very serious message pls share

McDavid probably just extends in Edmonton, that’s usually how these things go in the NHL.

I think there’s some legit hockey reasons for him to look elsewhere but that’s usually not how it goes with hockey players. They’re typically more forgiving on front offices for not doing a great job of building around him.

I also think there’s likely better options out there than the Flyers if it even gets to that point.
