I can't say I looked very closely at it in the games they were losing, but it did feel like (in the last two games) that the Kings rush ability, and getting into the zone was noticeably good. Of course, execution is a whole other thing, but man they did not have trouble skating into the offensive zone.

Jeez, I was just browsing Hockey Reference as I'm prone to do, and Vilardi's PDO through 7 games this season is 89.0.

Sure, he hasn't looked great, but holy hell that is some bad on-ice shooting and save percentage luck. On-ice shooting percentage for him is 2.9% and on-ice save percentage is an abysmal 86.1%. I am still in favor of moving him to wing, but damn if there's anyone due for some positive regression...:help:

Vilardi needs to be with a forechecker. I know they want to see what he can do running his own line, but it's not his strength. He's not fast so he needs someone to open up some space for him, which is what Lias did. He was the driver of that line, and it worked so well because neither Vilardi or Tkachev are veterans that players subconsciously defer to. It's why Kopitar flourishes with Iafallo, he makes space and Kopi only needs an extra inch or two to gain an advantage.

TM seems to be getting some balance finally and figuring out the lines.

I haven't been watching the Coyotes because I respect myself, but I wonder if there's a potential buy low opportunity with Chychrun:

0 goals, 0 assists
At 5v5:
- on ice for 0 goals for
- on ice for 12 goals against
- I could list all the xWhatever stats but none of them are above 50% except for scoring chances

But take a look at this. Huge dropoff:

The Coyotes being awful is either driving down his trade value OR maybe he sucks all of a sudden? Anybody been watching the Coyotes?

Actually, looking at it closer he seems to have improved defensively in some capacity.

He's playing on a beer league roster, there won't be a buy low opportunity

Geez. 23 years old, LHD #1 defenseman, with 5 full seasons already.

Would offer : Vilardi, Kempe, Grans and the 2022 #1. If you could keep Byfield, Kaliyev, Kupari, Turcotte, Chromiak, Pinelli, Helenius, Clarke and Faber....then sell 4 other top assests. Still have Fagemo, Thomas and Madden too.
Don't think Coyotes do that. Why not pick up the phone and inquire? And yes, I know they would probably get Turcotte or even Chromiak? But can you imagine having Chychrun added to this team?
The Kings have a ridiculous stable of riches in prospects. Insane. The time will come, when 2 or 3 are dealt and get a key player...and still have over 10 blue chip prospects.

I would add Lawson Crouse and make a bigger deal. We have the assets, just don't have the GM that can pull it off.

COVID is ten days isn't it? Shouldn't expect Vilardi or Arvidsson for a while.
You’d think with the league being fully vaccinated, that we could move past benching players for shoddy tests, but here we are.

Thankfully, there isn’t a whole lot to play for this season.

When you tank as hard as the Coyotes are, it takes years to recover. They'd be lucky to be competitive again in 3 year. 5 plus years is more likely, but no guarantee.

Makes you wonder what someone like Chychrun is thinking. Does he want to spend all his prime years on rebuilding team?
