Seriously? You would not trade Kempe + (one of) Fagemo / Madden / Thomas for a top paring LHD?

dont think any of those players move the needle for a true top pairing defenseman. I think they are great prospects but we are talking Turcotte, Bjornfot, as pieces a team would want.

Byfield and Clarke fill heavy needs for us going forward. Kaliyev is unique in our system and could see him being kept. We have to pay to get.

If a Dman like Sergachev or Chychrun is the target I offer Turcotte and Bjornfot in the package.

If Blake is going after a stop gap at this point I don’t even know if I would be willing to offer up Kupari, Thomas, Madden etc.

purely invisible? i'm sorry dude but that's total horseshit, he was an incredible PP facilitator, yeah he's a pass first guy, how the hell are you gonna hold SOG against him? more points than half the damn roster in half the games played.
We have very different opinions on the what constitutes "incredible."

I know people around here put a lot of value on pre-season play, but until further notice he's just another Loktionov/Dallman. Pre-season heroes that couldn't do anything in the NHL.

yeah f*** it, back to russia after 2 points in 4 games when the team/PP is worse than ever then claim you gave him a chance to "do something"

don't even have the f***in decency to give him 10

Other guys need chances too. They can't all fit on the roster at the same time. Some will have to be sent down.

And you complain about the team being soft...

Also, I don't think he's going back to Russia. I'm pretty sure he's committed to trying to make it in the NHL.

He made the PP alive and had lots of movement....and he had the primary assists on Doughty's PP and Kopi's PP goals. He showed he could score in the preseason, he rifled
one in the corner past Gibson. He seemed to not be skating hard enough on regular shifts - he knew where to be - but it seemed it would have behooved him to skate harder.

He did not have much chemistry with Gabe and I was soooooo hoping when Lias came back, the 3 of them would have chemistry and be a great line, No Todd has destroyed
that from ever happening. Sux so hard. The only chess player, now jettisoned to the AHL...but the Kings have Lizotte, who is still learning checkers...

What Todd is doing is just more failure. Tkachev is talented and can create offense but S***head Todd ships him off to the A. He a crappy coach. For a player like him you need to give him 20 games solid in the NHL to see what we’ve got with him.

Other than maybe top 10 overall picks, what players get 20 games to prove what they can do? That's a quarter of a season to prove yourself. Teams can't afford to, nor should they, float a guy for 20 games to see what he can do.

Tkachev averaged 14 minutes a night including the 4th most PP time amongst forwards. He had time to show something and, outside of game one, hasn't. He's not banished forever, but someone had to go and he's done little since game one of the season.

It gives me hope for the future to see well intentioned fans letting the scales fall from their eyes and seeing the gross incompetence of this management regime.

Hopefully the vast majority stop looking for context and start expecting results. The small market mentality has killed this franchise for its history outside the Lombardi era.

Giving losers excuses for repeated failures wears thin quickly. Robitaille and Blake need to get ejected to have any hope for a respectable hockey team.

Maybe should explore a trade like Vilardi + Tkachev for Phillip Broberg. Edmonton signed Tkachev back in 2015? and the league voided it, for some clause....maybe they would want him back? Evan Bouchard made the Oil out of camp and Broberg back to Bakersfield in the AHL. Young LHD with size, speed, skill. Vilardi getting jerked around and may never get his game here...once Byfield returns, he will be in the lineup and looks like Kupari has the size, speed and skill to make it and never look back...plus, he's a CENTER. Where does this leave Gabe?

I think Broberg played with Toby on the national team...was he the one that gave Rasmus his injured knee, though?

Why shouldn't they provide him with an opportunity to adapt and grow? The team is going nowhere and Tkachev has shown his scoring ability in the KHL, it's not like this is some random player.

He played a grand total of 4 games, that is just patently unfair to say he has had time to show something, especially when you are just going to ignore 1 of those games to prove your point.

Why should they? What team floats a guy for 20 games "to show something." Draft history's are full of high draft picks that didn't get 20 games to show something. Earn it or hit the farm. In the coaching staffs opinion, he didn't earn 20 games.

Hate to tell you but 4 games is more than most guys get.

Because we are a shit team that lacks offense. We are bottom 3 in the league in gf since TMac became coach, we should be trying to find more offense wherever we can. Also, this isn't a random draft pick, this is a guy who led SKA St Petersburg in scoring the past two seasons.

You know who else had a couple good years for SKA? Patrik Hersley. Yeah, the former Kings pick. Gusev had some good years for them too, and he didn't last very long in the NHL.

I don't know how much leading a KHL team in scoring means. At least in relation to NHL success. Kevin Dallman was a great KHL player. Brandon Bochenski was a very good KHL scorer. A point a game player over 8 years.

You never want to bank on anyone from the KHL. Just like college free agents. Always a big deal made about those guys, and then what do 97% of them do? Absolutely nothing.

Agree,

Can name countless KHL scorers that wouldn't sniff NHL ice. Linden Vey's first season in the KHL he was a PPG player.

Conversely, Panarin and Kaprizov led their teams in scoring before coming over and have had success in the NHL. I am not even claiming that he will be good, but I would like to give him more than a 4 game trial to see.

The team is 27th in GF/GP and that is largely buoyed by the 1st game blowout. They desperately need more offense and should be exploring any potential options they have.

They are. There are only 8 wing spots, and 4 are already taken off the bat. Brown isn't going anywhere. Lemieux gives the team some physicality. That's 5. Moore never leaves, that's 6. Kaliyev is getting a shot due to injury. Then the team seems to believe in Andersson, so he's got his time. Vilardi's played his way into the press box.

Only one game, but the move certainly hasn't had a negative impact today. And, as @KingsFan7824 has pointed out, leading a team in scoring over there means pretty much shit. Yeah, you can point to Panarin and Kaprizov, but even in Kaprizov's case, he was a highly touted guy for a few years before he came over so is anyone really shocked? The expectations for him were skyhigh before he even got here. Panarin is the only real surprise in years. Tkachev, the expectations were low and really, he's not separated himself from anyone for a bottom six spot. If he doesn't pan out it's not a shock to anyone outside of a few fans on message boards like these.

I just want to see one prospect live up to the billing. Not one of them has taken a spot. Not one has made a dent.

Some will. Give it time. Remember, they say it takes five years to judge a draft year so the 2017 judgment won't really be in until after this season. That year was the first time we had a 1st rounder since Kempe and we used it on Valiardi who then missed 18 months with a wonky back. Most of the kids you're likely upset about are 20 or 21 years old. They're close to making it, give it time. Kaliyev's looked solid tonight, maybe he earns his way and sticks for the season.

Blue chip prospects take 4 or 5 years to make a dent? Well damn. All of the other blue chip prospects in the draft classes are doing just fine. Just keep waiting everyone.
Who have we drafted that's "blue chip" other than Byfield and maybe Turcotte? Even Tmac said Byfield made the team until that injury, maybe wait at least until the kid can walk again. And who from 2019 is doing just fine from the top picks really that was available when we picked? Seider maybe. Zegras? Who here would have picked them over Turcotte at the time? Turcotte will likely pan out as our 2nd line C for a decade, like how Brayden Schenn should have. He's 20. It'll happen.
