Speculation: 2021-21 LA Kings News, Rumors, Roster discussion part V

A young defenseman I really like is Thomas Harley. I liked him in the draft. He went on to have an excellent season in the AHL last year as a 19 year old.

He has size but is mobile. Can be effective at both ends of the ice.

He would be a long term investment. Would cost us one of our blue chip prospects. You have to deal from an are of strength (forward) to fulfill and area of weakness (defensemen).

I'm not really sure if Dallas would have any interest. No idea what their needs are, but he's the type of player the org needs.

At least he is scoring somewhere

Okay, it sounds like they are not in a hurry, unless a great deal comes up. But it sounds like they feel a veteran d, will stablize their end and give them a better shot at a playoff berth.

At least they aren't rushing

Although calling around indicates a atrade (and there are some on the last year of their deal like Stralman , Justin Schultz and Manson) Demers is still out there, maybe they could sign him cheap if the asking price for trades is too high.

I don't understand trading for another Right Handed d-man when the point of depth is to give experience and opportunity to them?

You don't have to use the NHL to develop. But give Spence, Durzi, etc a shot.

I agree. In 10 months from now, Doughty and Walker will be back and there are so many RHD in the system; Clarke, Spence, Faber, Grans, Durzi and the only one that's close to
ready now, is Durzi....but he's not polished defensively. It's possible Clarke could make the team, Faber could sign and not need more than a yr in the AHL and Spence and Grans
could compete for a spot next year. So why, trade for a RHD, to replace DD for the next 6-7 weeks? Have Anderson play RHD or Clague can. Callup Durzi and see where he's at.

The biggest hole is # LHD and I say try to make a deal for 1. The prospect depth is crazy good and the Kings suck...maybe it's time to deal a vet + prospect to address the situation.
It's just so hard to part with a top prospect, but they all cannot play here. The crazy thing is, many were saying "I'd deal Kupari, I see him as the odd man out, being there's Byfield,
Turcotte, Kaliyev, Fagemo..." and just like that, Kupari is stepping up and playing great at center on the Kings. He's not looking like the odd man out, he's looking like a legit
#2 or #3 center. He's just starting, too.

There's no vet on this roster worth moving a legit 1LD for. Who is the prospect? Who is the D?

I can't believe someone is still talking about playoff.
We always start strong and then fall off a cliff due to our oldies running out of steam.
This is already the strong start.

I can see players like Kupari, Kaliev and Vilardi taking over like they did against Winipeg.
This trend will get stronger and stronger. There is also my favorite hidden gem Aatu Jemsen.
This guy is a bigger version of Pallfy. He just turned 19 and wherever he goes, he tears things up.
So stay calm, the future is bright, let's not destroy it by panic moves

Playoff as of now is a pipe dream and shouldn't even be considered.
We have at least 2 more seasons of top draft picks left before our youngsters are ready to really go for a playoff spot.

Tkachev is purely invisible out there, he’s got 1 shot in 4 games. Unless you’re Gretzky, the defense isn’t going to open passing lanes if they know you’re never going to shoot it.

The only King that has less than or equal to shots as Tkachev is Lemieux, whose played 1 game.

Man this is bull. I mean we haven't even given the kid a chance to prove himself. It's his first time playing in NA and we're already sending him down??? So frustrated with this pathetic franchise.
Honestly just pathetic.

Was on pace for 40 points in his rookie season and was probably only going to get better with time.

f*** Todd.
We've got a bunch of guys in the same boat as him; potential but haven't proven anything yet. We can't fit them all on the roster at the same time. Some will be sent down.

He hasn't been good, BTW.

If he's going to be good, he'll be able to produce in the AHL, and get his callup later.

purely invisible? i'm sorry dude but that's total horseshit, he was an incredible PP facilitator, yeah he's a pass first guy, how the hell are you gonna hold SOG against him? more points than half the damn roster in half the games played.

Other than the Vegas game….yes invisible. He got 2 points on the PP vs Vegas yet still managed to be a -2. If he’s such an great PP facilitator I’d hope he’d be able to pick up something else in his other 3 games.

He kept trying to do too cute passes and turning the puck over rather than shoot.

I think he meant a vet we have another team would move their 1LD for. And I can't see any team moving their top 1/2 D man for that package. Not even close.

Of course no team would do that trade. Maybe more like Iafallo + Turcotte could move the needle....but not sure I want to do that.
I still have hopes things can change in 2 months, when DD is back, Byfield is back and if Lias plays like he did in pre-season,
this team may be decent (and Kupari makes the impact it appears he can) ....but with probably having a losing record over next 7 weeks will doom the season.
