If it's for someone they see as a fit for the long-term and not just a one season fix, I'm good with it.

I had hoped they would try to sign Bogosian as a 6/7 this past summer but they went with Edler. Better player for sure, but that muscle is badly needed. I would be fine with an older vet who can clear the crease for the rest of the year.

Anyone remember when they put up images at the games and the players would comment about them? They put up a picture of Colin Fraser lining someone one up and every single one of them said "oh, he's gonna make him pay". That's a microcosm of team needs right there.

In the short term, this team needs two things. Piss and vinegar. Just start there. We need to find out who has it and who doesn't. If I see one more play where an opponent completes a pass/dump in and the Kings player doesn't make him pay for it, I'm gonna go full scanners.

Trading for a defensemen in attempt to salvage this season has got to be the absolute stupidest idea possible.
We have played 6 games. Little early to call it "salvage the season" We lost to Minnesota and Nashville both games we could have easily won. OT loss to Dallas - We out played them in this game. And 2 losses to an undefeated St. Louis team on the road. We will miss Doughty and his 25:00 a game and now Walker so why not try to get a RD veteran with a little toughness to fill the gap. I know everybody likes to play the sky is falling but we have 76 games to go and lets see if this team can get on a roll.

I love your enthusiasm. I have it too sometimes.

However, if we could have easily won those games but didn't, haven't shown any life since and have lost two starting defensemen, its hard to understand why anyone should be optimistic, especially if you have been a Kings fan for any amount of time. You started here in 2007, you've been through a lot, so you know.

Anyone attended a game yet with kids where you have to show negative Covid test for them? How did that go, what exactly are they accepting for proof?

I would give my left but for the Kings to land Sergachev. He has been in the league a while but he is only 23.

the dude is 6’3, has scoring skills, hits and fights. He is a top pairing performer that would eat a lot of minutes and pair well with Doughty.

We have no other Dman in the pipeline or in the team like this.

he is under 5 mil a year and RFA in two years.

this is the exact guy we trade for

It's not just 6 games though.

I'm open minded. It's hockey. This sport is very unpredictable so anything can happen. But giving up significant futures for a mercenary dman doesn't make any sense.

I am not sure if you are talking about Sergachev as a mercenary? He has two years at a smoking good price left then he is RFA not UFA at age 25. He is a core piece if aquired. The guy is young enough (23) to partner Doughty now and Clarke in the future.

With that logic Pittsburgh should’ve trade Crosby and Malkin before their back to back cups. And Washington should’ve traded Ovi and Backstrom after those horrible Oates and Hunter coached years when people thought Ovi was done.

And Boston should trade Bergeron and Marchand since they haven’t won in ages.

McDavid hasn’t gotten out of the 2nd round better trade him, Matthew’s out of the first ditch him.
Comparing Crosby and Malkin, especially Crosby to other players in the NHL is a bad idea. Crosby is a generational talent.

Boston probably should think about trading Bergeron and/or Marchand if they are not in contention this season. Perfect time for it to happen. Bergeron is another guy who could probably put Colorado over the top.

It's frustrating to watch. Especially when you have Recordings of the 2012 playoffs game 1 Kings VS Blues....Man what a game.

Hope Blake doesn't spend a 2nd or better on the D patch. Unfortunately AZ cornered the market on overpaid, borderline D this offseason. Get Maatta out of the top 4 by getting Maatta 2.0, wait 3.0.

And every other generational talent was traded or left their original teams.
Please tell me that you aren't suggesting Kopitar is a "generational talent"?

Very, very, very good for a looooooong time, but there have been maybe two or three seasons in his career that he could legitimately be called a top 5 center league wide.

And those other guys are motivational captains. You think you would ever hear Crosby, Ovechkin or Bergeron say "if everybody is good then nobody has to be great"? Nope, their actions say get behind me and try to keep up. They lead from the front and not the side.

And they weren't part of a leadership group that quit on 4 coaches.

Why do we have sacred cows on a team that has won one playoff game in 7 years? The players you mentioned all happen to be the focal point of teams that stayed relevant for a decade while the Kings had a brief run by comparison.

I hate this shit because it all reads as disrespectful to a player I admire very much. I will miss him when he is gone, but he just isn't an untouchable. There are problems with keeping this group at the forefront of the team when the rebuild is what needs to be nurtured.

Agreed. And it came to this point to realize they might need that type of D man.?? That was a move\player we needed to get in the offseason. It was evident all of last year that along with a top LD we need some size on D and on the bottom lines at least.

I heard Jonathan Toews was quite the captain, too.

In all seriousness - Kopitar has a subdued personality, but he led on the ice, consistently, playing in all situations, playing top minutes, playing within the systems of different coaches.

Coaches, mind you, with varying personalities and styles. ALL have trusted Kopitar with the varying responsibilities. He's missed fewer games than all of these "generational leaders" and led his team in scoring in as many or more seasons (I think he's tied with Ovechkin).

People are overreacting and taking out of context something said a decade ago about everyone having to be good. One that isn't even bad.

As much as you claim to respect/admire him, you still sell him short.
