Speculation: 2021-21 LA Kings News, Rumors, Roster discussion part V

I find it very very hard to believe that there aren’t ANY prospects across the myriad junior leagues that the Kings could draft who has talent and some snarl. Has the league fallen off so much that the only players like that in recent memory are the Tkachuk’s? This team is soft, it’s defense is one dimensional and the coach/GM refuses to give the kids the keys because now the rebuild is “over”. What a mess Blake has done.

I keep saying it again - the best Kings game I’ve seen in 7 years was the pre season game against the Ducks where the Kings played all the kids and won 6-3.

That was what Ottawa did - they just played the kids and let Norris, Tkachuk and co play on the top line. Not the same ole stale Kopitar, Brown and Iafallo. Ottawa has only two vets in the top 6 - Connor Brown and Nick Paul and both in there mid 20’s.

Ottawa spent no money, and continue to spend a league low. When you go ultra cheap, and you have no vets for a coach to lean on, he has no other choice.

It also helps that they traded Karlsson a year too early. That was smart. Not that they wanted to do it. If they could've kept him, they would've. Same with Stone, and whoever the hell else they got rid of. That the Sens never won the Cup, it helps them today. Not like the Blues wanted to lose Pietrangelo either, but he walked away.

This is what happens when you try to speed up a rebuild to meet unattainable results. The first goal is to make this a .500 team before they jump on the PR train and announce this team's goals are playoff contenders. Good luck getting this coach to get any prospect decent ice time with that in mind.

They traded up to draft 6'6" Samuel Helenius, who is tough and physical...but has skill and Yannetti says already skates NHL level.
He's in his second year in Liiga and the Kings already signed him. Seems they will probably bring him over after his season there.

Yannetti talks about him at 1:40 of the interview.

We need a Daniel Carcillo on this team. A total dirt bag that's gonna get under your skin and push there teams defender on top their goalie. We were losing what?.. 7-1 last night with zero emotion. Aside from Lemieux we have none of that. This team is soft and emotionless. I'd rather be the dirty team full of jerks than the "skilled" team that gets pushed around and when things go south hide in a shell.

Just out of curiosity, but what is the most you guys would give up for Girard? He’s signed for 5 more years (after this one) at $5m per.

I am against it. Our Defence is too small as it is. Unless Walker is part of the package that goes back.

Not to say I liked Sutter, but you can bet that Hagendaaz would have got his ass kicked under his regime.

Todd and Blake have made this team spineless. No cohesion. No brotherhood. They both need to get fired.

As for "for who" question. Literally anyone because this ship has continually been sinking. Everyone except Willie d.

hard to kick a guys ass when he is ejected, may have to answer next game

God watching that replay after the Doughty hit...

f***ing bring in Torts, Mike Keenan, or Crawford. I cannot go another year of this utterly gutless, cowardly, completely p***yfied brand of hockey, Blake's vision be damned. Trying to ice a team of speedy midgets who won't stick up for one another is worse than anything I've seen in Kings history. Might as well be the Willie D year at this point, but at least the players were bonded in their hatred for him!

Keenan and Crawford?!? No...just no

Blake should be on the phone Monday looking to put a package together for a defenseman who can score from the point , and play actual defense. Right now, I see none who can do both. Will cost us, yes, but seeing what's we have now, we really have no choice. It's the saddest group of guys I've seen in years. Nobody can hit the net, or will even try when they have the puck. We should just call Walker "High and Wide Walker", because that's all he does when he shoots.

I think Kylington would be a good target at a lower cost. Calgary has too many D and I think he would be an upgrade of Maata, Bjornfot, and Edler.

I don't think that TM will be canned unless the season is a disaster, but I'd love to see Torts here. Short shelf life, etc, but he could be another Sutter pickup.

In what way does Calgary have too many D, and what does another depth D who doesn't really do anything do for the Kings?

I am aware of Helenius and like the pick, it just seems like it’s a case of too little too late.

Kylington is an improvement to he bottom 3 that LA is icing. It's not big game hunting but it is an upgrade that would not cost much at all.

Calgary is currently carrying 8 d on their roster as they do not want to waive any and lose on waivers.

Sutter ended up as a good choice because the team was severely underachieving. They were supposed to be low-end contenders and they were on the verge of missing the playoffs and being in the lottery. This team is nowhere near that in terms of expectations/roster and getting a guy like that would ruin a lot of these prospects. Also, Terry Murray is oddly the one this team could use. Or someone just like him.

What I would do for now:

Kaliyev-Kopitar-Brown
Iafallo-Danault-Vilardi
Kempe-Moore-Arvidsson
Grundstrom-JAD-Kupari

Feel free to interchange Vilardi/Kaliyev or send Kaliyev down so he's playing real minutes.

Anderson-Walker
Bjornfot-Roy
Wolanin-Edler OH WHATS THAT WE KEPT MAATTA TERRIFIC in that case Strand. Edler - Walker / Anderson - Roy / Bjornfot - Strand
