I think Edler's been pretty solid so far. He's definitely slowed down but he is still very sound defensively and a good role model for Mikey and Toby. Far an away better than some of the other veteran scrubs we've had in the lineup the last few years.

At this point we have so many extra bodies an open contract spot is not the worse thing. Would rather it be Maatta but what can you do. Rather start seeing what our young guys can do. Still have Clague, Strand, Moverere, Durzi and Maatta to sub in if needed.

Did anyone else catch The Jeff Marek Show pod where at the end they quickly mention about Bergevin coming to LA because of his connections to Luc? Came from a Larry Brooks column.
They said it would all depend on how well the team performs this year and if you want to replace the GM.

One thing I 'missed' about regular full seasons was people openly demonstrating their ignorance of the LA kings org.
Remember when Stutzle was seen in a limo with Phil in Germany so he was coming to LA no doubt and Ottawa couldn't wait to have Byfield, then Byfield got drafted by LA and he suddenly sucked and TS is the best thing since sliced bread?
That's the average out-of-market news cycle for the Kings. f*** em.

Anyone else think our defense is crap? Seems like the only good players are Doughty and Anderson.
Well, we are in the top half in defense so far, despite playing two teams in the top 10 in goals scored last year. I think Walker has looked better than Anderson, to be truthful, and that's no slight on Mikey. And of the 5 goals the team has given up this year, Doughty and Anderson have been on for 3 of them. Roy and Bjornfot have been quietly solid.
Small sample size and all, but I don't think they are crap. They look a lot better than most other teams I've seen on TV so far.

This is the biggest issue facing the Kings.
And the problem is, it takes time to develop capable two-way D. Even with the Heiskanen's of the world who sometimes develop quickly, it takes longer to develop D.
And right now, the Kings don't have much except for Clarke. And Clarke's not exactly a defensive defenseman.
I'd look really hard at trading Kupari, or Vilardi or even Turcotte for a 22-23 year old D.

Consider the source [sources] and the podcast. Marek was the sportsnet clown who on a daily basis complained how slow the Kings cups team were, only to be corrected by someone with, "Who cares? Nobody cared about how fast a team was then"
Anderson was terrible against the Wild. Toby looks like the REAL top pairing LD.
