That would a very expensive 3C, but Staal is still pretty good. But I wouldn't offer more than 2 years.
Wasn't the Myers signing supposed to be for the 3C next season though?

The FA from Carolina that I want is Vinny Trocheck. He's not perfect, but as I look around the cap friendly I'm not seeing much else on the market that would be up to snuff as 2C, unless Joe tries to swing for the fence on a short deal with Malkin...but I just can't see Malkin moving to the western conference.

Not gonna lie, I forgot about the kid already :DD. Yeah he is a good 3C next year, but we still don't know that he'll 100% pan out. Staal is a know commodity and would perform perfectly in that role.

However with Newhook and Meyers I do think it would be a better idea to pass on him and spend the money elsewhere.

Staal's Carolina contract ends in 2023. There's still one more season before he hits UFA. If we were to trade for him let's say, current contract pays $6 million, and I don't think we can take that kind of cap hit for a 3C, considering we will have at least two holes on the second line going into the free agency period.

I miss interpreted that tweet. I thought he was free this year. If that's the case and Carolina somehow is out, maybe at the TDL with retention? Could be a great depth add.

After everything he's seen about the Arizona market, he's insisting on a 30 year no relocation clause?

What the hell kind of deal with the devil did Betman make with Arizona? He's like a victim of domestic violence that refuses to leave a toxic relationship.

Yeah that Arizona team is hogwash at this point. Didn't we just see an article that there was like a 15,000 fan showing for a junior team in Quebec or something? For f***s sakes, that's probably more than the average showing for Yotes games in the NHL lol.

all about Bettman's pride now.
Ego. He's clearly all-in into keeping the team in AZ, whatever it takes.

Not probably, that's way more.

So I was looking at playoff stats for Avs players and I couldn't understand how Kadri could have played 15 games two years ago when Avs lost in the second round. Seems like the three pointless games (perhaps they had something to do with home ice advantage) Avs played while the other teams played in the play-in round count as official playoff games. What a weird season that was.

Got a question because I guess I missed it. How did the Sharks get out completely from that e.kane contract cap-wise ??

"The NHLPA filed the grievance on behalf of Kane after the Sharks, whom Kane played four seasons with, placed him on unconditional waivers in January. By terminating his contract, the Sharks would be clear of paying Kane nearly $23 million over the next three seasons. On Jan. 27, Kane signed a one-year deal worth $1.375 million with the Oilers. Sources told The Athletic in January the Sharks placed Kane on unconditional waivers once he breached his player contract by traveling to Vancouver while in the AHL's COVID-19 protocol."

I see... so because he's such a moron, he lost all that money and the Sharks were like "Yes!!!!!".

Haha omg I was making a joke when I said he had an IQ of 41, turns out I was being generous.

Looking around Twitter, I just reminded myself, and now you, that the Kraken could have taken Palat and then traded him to the highest bidder.
They could have done the same with Yanni Gourde. Either guy would have returned them a boatload. They seem intent on making Gourde a part of their (somewhat) long term core, though.
