I'm not as high on him as some, but what a goal. Regardless of his NHL career, he'll always have an insane GWG for the gold medal.
I was not as high on him a year ago, even when he was putting together his 102 point year...but from reading more about him the past 6 months; including from Yannetti and coaches...
I'm more impressed and think he's going to be a valuable 2nd or 3rd line King in a few years.
One from off season about his dedication to his training and adding 20 pounds and more strength and the new article from coaches talking about how valuable he is in
any situation and can play any forward position, bodes well. The Athletic article talks about how Akil has taken on his captaincy to extreme levels on how he is helping all the young players
on Niagara as well. He goes over game footage with them.
And not sure if 'Seattle King' is on this board, but from reading their posts, is at some coaching or scouting level and knows NHL scouts. Has been posting some good stuff about Akil.

Akil Thomas is a stud. I said this last summer. Many people I know in the league are jealous we have him. I cant wait until he is in Kings Jersey ! Oh and by the way, congrats Canada.
some credibility ? >

Here is a summary of texts from friends who are scouts in the NHL. These are the players they like:
Romanov, Marchenko
Lafreniere
Veleno
Hayton
Pinto
and they are getting chatter about possible King deal on near horizon?

I think you are going to see a big Kings roster move this week or next. They are talking to several teams. A few before the Holiday break.
excerpt from recent article:
“I was stunned when he fell at the draft in Dallas. I was as confident really as I’ve ever been with any of our past IceDogs picks that he would be as high as pick 19 or 20 type of things,” Joey Burke said.
“As he began to slip, it turned the excitement of our night as a staff into disappointment. I know LA got themselves a star in the second round and I’m sure they’re going to be laughing they’re way to the bank as the years go on. When it’s all said and done, people will think he should have been a first-round pick. It put a chip on his shoulder to prove to the other teams that they shouldn’t have let him slip by them.”
This year, on a younger, less-talented IceDogs team, they said he’s been even better.
This fall, Billy and Joey made him captain, a decision they said was a no brainer.
