Yep, that play near the end was brutal by Broberg. Bjornfot had made a really solid play separating the Finn from the puck along the boards, the Swedish center was trying to skate the puck behind the net to clear, and Broberg vacated the front of the net for no apparent reason. Not surprisingly, the puck popped out to an uncovered Finnish player in front—where Broberg should have been—but Alnefelt made a great save.

Assist to Fagrmo and Noudiainen early in SWE-FIN game.

Hilarious that Björnfot gets roasted a lot in game day threads while being average but Bröberg gets little criticism despite being very poor.

It's the Erik Karlsson defense.

Methot/Vlasic/insert partner here is always at fault because they're just not good enough to keep up anymore

Fagemo, leading WJC in scoring,

Fagemo
SWE785136+3
[TBODY] [/TBODY]
"but...but...he's 19 already and should be doing that"
I hate that kind of rhetoric....let's see how many 18 year olds have those kind of numbers next year.

So glad Blake already signed him. I bet Frolunda would have tried to get him under contract, had not Blake got that deal done quickly.
For all the Blake haters, you have to consider the total scope and that includes him getting Fagemo and Bjornfot signed so quickly.

Don't think anyone was worried that they wouldn't be able to sign a guy they just traded up for to his ELC. Kid wants to play in the NHL: he signs the ELC.

Let's give credit for the pick at this point. That's the move to give credit where it's due.

I said it in June that that trade to move up for Fagemo was a smart one. His stock is rising, hopefully he can continue his strong play from this WJC.

Didn’t have sound at the bar. Why wasn’t that a delay of game penalty on Dudas near the end?
I was watching the TSN feed and the commentators said the camera was theirs and should be "out of play". I don't think we got an answer from the refs but I assume they decided it wasn't considered out of play.

My guess is that they ruled the Camera counts as the "glass"?

In the grand scheme of things, these grievances don't matter much, but I think it's silly that Thomas, who scored the game-winner didn't get the player of the game. Samuel Fagemo, the leading goal and point scorer, did NOT get tournament MVP.

Thanks. It sure looked like it was going out whether there was a camera there or not.
The more game threads I've checked out I've found some commenting that because the cameras themselves can rotate and portions of it can stick out over the glass that all 3 cameras stationed around the rink were deemed an extension of the rink/glass so any cameras hit were not to be considered delay of game. I don't know that to be true but it's the only explanation I've come across that makes any sort of sense.

That makes sense. Almost ground rules of sorts. Thanks.

I'm not as high on him as some, but what a goal. Regardless of his NHL career, he'll always have an insane GWG for the gold medal.

I was not as high on him a year ago, even when he was putting together his 102 point year...but from reading more about him the past 6 months; including from Yannetti and coaches...
I'm more impressed and think he's going to be a valuable 2nd or 3rd line King in a few years.

One from off season about his dedication to his training and adding 20 pounds and more strength and the new article from coaches talking about how valuable he is in
any situation and can play any forward position, bodes well. The Athletic article talks about how Akil has taken on his captaincy to extreme levels on how he is helping all the young players
on Niagara as well. He goes over game footage with them.

And not sure if 'Seattle King' is on this board, but from reading their posts, is at some coaching or scouting level and knows NHL scouts. Has been posting some good stuff about Akil.

Akil Thomas is a stud. I said this last summer. Many people I know in the league are jealous we have him. I cant wait until he is in Kings Jersey ! Oh and by the way, congrats Canada.

some credibility ? >

Here is a summary of texts from friends who are scouts in the NHL. These are the players they like:
Romanov, Marchenko
Lafreniere
Veleno
Hayton
Pinto

and they are getting chatter about possible King deal on near horizon?

I think you are going to see a big Kings roster move this week or next. They are talking to several teams. A few before the Holiday break.

excerpt from recent article:
“I was stunned when he fell at the draft in Dallas. I was as confident really as I’ve ever been with any of our past IceDogs picks that he would be as high as pick 19 or 20 type of things,” Joey Burke said.
“As he began to slip, it turned the excitement of our night as a staff into disappointment. I know LA got themselves a star in the second round and I’m sure they’re going to be laughing they’re way to the bank as the years go on. When it’s all said and done, people will think he should have been a first-round pick. It put a chip on his shoulder to prove to the other teams that they shouldn’t have let him slip by them.”
This year, on a younger, less-talented IceDogs team, they said he’s been even better.
This fall, Billy and Joey made him captain, a decision they said was a no brainer.

I was down on him last year because he was identity-less and soft on the puck. A little bit like Roland McKeown. Different position, but what does he do better than anyone else? He can do everything 'good enough' but I still don't think he's a big goal scorer or playmaker at the NHL level.

I mean, if the answer is put in the work, and some good vision and grit, I'm good with that. I don't see him being a high-end NHLer but everyone can use a high-end Trevor Lewis/Tanner Pearson, especially one with character and desire like Thomas.

I see him as a complementary player, a 40-50 point guy. But I'm big on those guys, that's a compliment, not an insult.

He will be an ideal third liner. In a perfect world, him , lizotte, and iafallo

Not sure Iafallo will be here by then.. didn’t he sign a two year deal? I think he might get moved especially with guys like Wags, JAD, Grundy, Amadio, Kempe, Lizzotte, Fagemo and Kupari either being in the NHL or being really close to being NHL ready
