i just don’t get what they are going for with these lines. There are much better combinations, and in these short tournaments is not the place to try and get cute. Put your most skilled players in the best positrons to use their skills.

Exactly how I feel about Canada’s lines (and to stay on topic, agree about the USA’s lines).

Im guessing they start with these lines, but if they struggle it wont take long before changing them

Well when it comes to the WJC, I'm from the USA so they're who I root for. So you could say they're my lines as well.

It's funny how you guys are hating on line combinations. Why not see how they play out first?

I watched the exhibition against Germany, a much weaker team than the teams we need to beat to win this tournament. The team struggled a lot. We only pulled away in the third period, and most of our offense came from the PP.

The schedule also doesn't give us much room to see how it plays out, as we open up with Canada right away.

Post that in the Bruins forum then. I don't know why you'd come here to provoke us when we are mad that our coach is screwing with our lines. That seems like trolling to me, but I'm not a moderator.

Lol he has an opinion You don’t like, it’s got to be trolling.

You guys are being babies about lines and games that haven’t happened yet lol. Sorry he called you out on that but it’s just a fact

Moderator mommy, moderator mommy! Come quick!

Don't act dense. Thats not what he said. He said nothing about thinking Beecher deserves it. If you are going to laugh at us in our thread that the coach is screwing with our lines, I'd consider that trolling, not voicing an opinion. He could've voiced a pro-Beecher opinion for why he should be in that spot, but he didn't.

And no one even mentioned Beecher. The Bruins fans got sensitive because they took it as a shot at Beecher. In fact, many other players were mentioned way before Beecher's spot in the lineup, yet here you and all these Bruins fans are to defend your team's prospect against what exactly?

Terrific appeal to authority. I'm going to ignore it because its a waste of time.

If you would've paid attention, you'd know that there actually have been two games with these types of lines. The Sweden game wasn't televised, but these lines didn't work in the game against Germany, as already mentioned.

It’s one exhibition game that they won lol. Best believe the coaches have seen a little more than that.

Also I think it’s hilarious you think shots aren’t being taken at Beecher when you have a guy implying he’s going to flounder, again, WITHOUT SEEING ANYTHING OF SUBSTANCE. That is on this very page. Again, I’m gonna go with the professional decision makers that see him outside of a link to an exhibition game. If that’s an appeal to an authority so be it, I call it common sense though

Heres the funny thing about you guys crying for the last two pages-

If they show nothing they can switch up the lines. Wow. Novel concept. They’re icing who they think gives them the best chance to win. There’s more to hockey than fancy dangles. If things change and they don’t show enough, guess what? The lines will change. Crazy! I know. But it’s happened in the sport of hockey before!

I'll speak for myself. You quoted my post. You referred to me as part of you guys. What did I say against Beecher that warranted you responding to me as opposed to the people who said the things you mentioned?

And I don't feel the appeal to authority compelling. This is a short tournament with an all-star roster cobbled together. These are not lines for a college hockey game where the coach spends most of the year with the players. For all you know, the coach knew very little about these players. The US head coach job is unlike that of a lot of other countries. They pick a college coach whose first duty is to coach his college team. I think he spends a lot less time watching and getting to know these players during the course of a season than the coaches of the Russian, Swedish, Finnish teams. Why reinvent the wheel if you are coming in with less knowledge to begin with? Are you even arguing against what I'm saying or is it only because you think you need to defend Beecher against something I didn't say?

Other people are dense? I just told you which games.

You already made a fool of yourself once in this thread. Quit while your ahead.

I'll ask one more time. Then I'm done. Which games have you seen of Janicke? Don't make deceptive references. Answer my question since you started this discussion in the first place by disagreeing with my opinion.

It's my opinion that you've probably never seen him play, but you claim that you've seen him in person, so which games have you seen him play in person.

Beacher will do just fine, relax man you sound like a complaining parent from a town league program LOL

I'm willing to give the coaching staff the benefit of the doubt that some of the lineups were off due to giving other players a chance to earn a spot on the roster prior to cuts.

Of course, I would rather Turcotte and Kaliyev get plenty of top line opportunity, but it might be worth seeing how the lines play out in actual tournament action, no matter how they are set up.

“Wahhhh my prospect isn’t playing where I think he should, I’m gonna disparage players the successful program thinks are better over my expert couch opinion”

No, my team doesn't have any forward prospects on usa. I just care about usa winning. I want them to put out the best possible combinations...call me crazy.

That lineup looks ugly. I'm not understanding why Beecher is where he is but oh well.

Typically coaches like to go for a sniper/playmaker/2way setup (with a net crasher), thats how most NHL coaches balance their lines. That said, U20 hockey isnt typically very structured so you usually end up having a very open game. That's why some nations like to put their big boys together and ride or die with their success (Finland for example plays their top players a ton).

Deeper teams like the US or Canada like to run 4 lines, coaches are probably still trying to figure out the most optimal line (stylistically) combos.

Clearly they want Beecher to be a 2way/net front/forecheking presence on the line, Caufield is the sniper, they need a strong playmaker to complement the line. Caufield could definitely use someone like Zegras or Turcotte tho. He should be paired with the strongest playmaker on the roster.
