i just don’t get what they are going for with these lines. There are much better combinations, and in these short tournaments is not the place to try and get cute. Put your most skilled players in the best positrons to use their skills.
It's like they are trying to spread the talent around. I feel like that rarely works in these short tournaments. Load up a couple of lines and let them go to town.

Beecher and Drury setting up the best goal scorer in the tournament? Is this a joke? Caufield has documented success playing with elite playmakers (Hughes, Zegras). Beecher is a good all-around player but suited for 3rd or 4th line. He is fast, but not creative at all and upon zone entry primarily takes the puck in on the wing using a power move and shoots. That’s literally the only play I’ve ever seen him make and I’ve seen him a lot at the NTDP. This is extremely disappointing.

They played Zegras w Pivonka and Hall/Janicke at the WJSS as well and Zegras was making amazing plays all over and they couldn’t capitalize for the life of them. You have a team loaded with elite goal scorers and this is how you utilize your best playmaker? Just wow

Turcotte and Zegras are our two best centers.

So naturally they are playing as bottom 6 wingers.
Haha coaches man. Why would you want natural centers who were top 10 picks when you could play older, worse players instead? Also it's funny that Beecher has somehow made his way into the top 6 ahead of players who he played behind last year.

USA hockey just consistently has the wrong mindset. They tap successful NCAA coaches for these tournaments but successful teams in the NCAA have less skill and are more reliant on spreading out their lineup and manufacturing wins. This is the opposite strategy that should be used in these tournaments. To not have Turcotte and Zegras as the top two centers without at least one of the top end snipers is just incompetent.

I am rooting for Canada but it would be quite sad to not see the potential excitibg top 6 that americans could have
