Yeah, I'd say these years come the closest (based on how good the players were at the time of the tournament).2009 and 2010 were stacked, although some did not pan out very well

2019 Erik Brännström, Adam Boqvist, Rasmus Sandin, Nils Lundkvist, Adam Ginning, Philip Broberg, Filip Westerlund

2010 Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Adam Larsson, Tim Eriksson, Mattias Ekholm, David Rundblad, Lukas Kilström, Peter Andersson

2009 Victor Hedman, Erik Karlsson, David Rundblad, Tim Erixon, Viktor Ekbom, Sebastian Erixon, Nichlas Torp

1994 Mattias Öhlund, Kenny Jönsson, Anders Eriksson, Mattias Timander, Dick Tärnström, Edvin Frylén etc

And a reminder how mediocre our D have been some years

2003 Tobias Enström, Johan Agu, Patrik Bäärnhielm, Mats Hansson, Jonas Leetma, Adam Masuhr, Simon Skoog

Looking at some of those defenses its hard to imagine Sweden hasnt won gold with them. But most years the solid Swedish forwards never matched up with having great D. Having Hedman and Karlsson on the ice basically the whole game seems outrageous but they didnt win. The forwards werent good that year.

2012 defense wasnt as good as some of these but guys like Zibanejad, and Forsberg up front really helped. One of the only years where it seemed Sweden was balanced

Anyone with ideas and/or opinions on who is the best option to play on the right side out of the team's left-handed D?
I know Broberg has done it before, any others?

Mattias Norlinder plays a lot on the right side.

I remember the Karlsson/Hedman year, they did not win but I thought Karlsson was a beast in those games. Just from the way he skated and how he moved the puck.

Broberg is very raw we all know this, the fact that he hasn’t really torn up the SHL his first season in the league shouldn’t be that surprising.
Indeed, but some posters from NA think SHL is like junior leagues in NA and if there is no big TOI or pts production it is all crap. I keep trying to say that the ice time is good for an 18 year old and that the points are not all reflective of his game, but it doesn't matter. Funny enough I have so far only seen critisizm from posters, not from actual reporters/journalists.

I don't know, I am not even watching that much of Broberg, but whenever I see him he looks pretty good, but as you say raw. Loads of skill there to be developed.. Hoping for a good WJC!

Yeah the SHL isn’t anything like the CHL that’s for sure.

I would say that’s pretty much my take aswell regarding his game. But I wouldn’t say that’s tearing it up. Oh for sure there is a ton of upside with him.

thank god we are not playing against canada, they always hurt 2-3 of our players with their dirty style of play.

Ouch! Canadians, please note this is not representative of the general opinion of all Swedes. Having said that, yes we have hade some encounters with some jack***ses through the years, fuelled by "chicken Swedes" comments from a now dethroned scare crow.

What happened to Simon Holmstrom? Is he still a possibility?
No, the team is set. Unless there's an injury or illness before the team is reported nothing new will happen to the team, and he wasn't one of the 3 reserves Montén listed for Raymond either.

last couple of tournaments; around 1-2 players had to be cut form the final roster. Is this still the case?

Looks like Sweden have a considerably better defence and better wingers, while Finland have better Centers and a better goalie. It will be close but I would maybe give a slight edge to the Swedish team.

Im not sure about cosiderable, we have some very good talent there. And I'd say the other way around Our wingers are better than centers. We are missing Anton Lundell, Jesperi Kotkaniemi and Kaapo Kakko. It is what it is but overall id say a strong team.
