If Raymond is out... is there any idea to have Karl Henriksson on the team??

I Think Henriksson has shown he belongs on his own merits.

Take the latest tournament, initially he played on the 4th line with Pasic. In the first game Pasic scores 2 goals I think.

Then Henriksson is moved to Raymond's line, and suddenly they start scoring. Whereas Pasic didn't score.

Henriksson makes the people around him better, whether they are called Raymond or not.

Well this became a mess in hurry. Probably should have invited Söderström to camp in the first place. I don't understand why they only picked out only 5 D in the first place, especially when the camp is held in Sweden. They need a RHD, Filip Johansson is my stalltips, hope I'm wrong.

OK, without first round draft picks Rasmus Dahlin, Adam Boqvist and Rasmus Sandin (possibly) we might be stuck with this:

Broberg - Söderström
Ginning - Lundkvist
Björnfot - Norlinder
Filip Johansson

Five firstrounders, a secondrounder (Ginning) and a thirdrounder (Norlinder). Not bad.

Born 00-01 all firstrounder defensemen crew:

Rasmus Sandin - Adam Boqvist
Philip Broberg - Victor Söderström
Tobias Björnfot - Nils Lundkvist
Rasmus Dahlin - Filip Johansson

Color me surprised that he selected victor.

Soderstrom is better than boqvist anyway

If sandin dont come, i would like to see Wilsby or albert johansson. but ofc monten will choose filip johansson who is as bad as ginning.

If Sandin doesn't come my preference would be Albert Johansson, but I'm open to getting a U18 guy like Grans in, like Broberg last year.

So I've seen this referenced a ton over the years but can't find any actual info on it: Is there an agreement with Sweden and NHL/AHL clubs that they must send their Swedish WJC eligible players to the WJC if they are not currently in the NHL? I swear I'd heard that repeated a lot, especially being a Toronto fan with our top prospects being Swedes in the AHL for 5 years now lol.

No, but Swedish players would much, much rather play at the WJC than in the AHL. They'd also much rather play in the NHL over both, even if it's 3 minutes a night.

defense looks very strong now, maybe the best it's ever been.

Yeah, I'd say these years come the closest (based on how good the players were at the time of the tournament).2009 and 2010 were stacked, although some did not pan out very well

2019 Erik Brännström, Adam Boqvist, Rasmus Sandin, Nils Lundkvist, Adam Ginning, Philip Broberg, Filip Westerlund

2010 Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Adam Larsson, Tim Eriksson, Mattias Ekholm, David Rundblad, Lukas Kilström, Peter Andersson

2009 Victor Hedman, Erik Karlsson, David Rundblad, Tim Erixon, Viktor Ekbom, Sebastian Erixon, Nichlas Torp

1994 Mattias Öhlund, Kenny Jönsson, Anders Eriksson, Mattias Timander, Dick Tärnström, Edvin Frylén etc

And a reminder how mediocre our D have been some years

2003 Tobias Enström, Johan Agu, Patrik Bäärnhielm, Mats Hansson, Jonas Leetma, Adam Masuhr, Simon Skoog

2019 looks good on paper, but I personally think boqvist and brannstrom are overrated.

Having a good defensive lineup on paper means very little in a short tournament unless they actually perform. The Russians usually bring the best out of the defensemen they bring, that's key. The 2012 defense was IMO the best. Klefbom & Brodin were incredible with the rest playing very solid hockey throughout the tournament.
