This has got to be sour grapes to Wilsby. Logging same number of points as Norlinder, on half the number of games.
Heating up didnt do it...

Goalies: 3/5
Defense: 5/5 (will be when the last two spots are filled)
Forwards: 2,5/5

I predict Sweden will win their group ahead of Finland. Then play either Czech Rep or Germany (I like their team this year) in the quarterfinals... advance to the semi final ...and then get beaten by either Canada/USA/Russia.

Pretty interesting that at least one of Rasmus Sandin, Adam Boquist and Victor Söderström will not make this team. All three are what you would consider #1 defensemen at this level.

At forward I would have loved seeing Simon Holmström and Noel Gunler (the fact that he did not even get a shot to prove himself in the exhibition tournaments this season is a disgrace).

Anyway, despite the mediocre roster, this Swedish team should be fun to watch... mainly because of the skilled defensemen and my personal favorite trio Raymond-Holtz-Höglander.

If you are big, relatively physical and 19 you will get an important role in any Tomas Monten WJC team, no matter how skillful, smart or how good a skater you are. It is getting pretty ridiculous.

I wanted Holmström, but I'm fine with it. However it doesn't really makes much sense right now since it seems like Nässén is out with a concussion...
I got info from a journalist that asked Monten about Nässén's concussion, he's back practicing on ice already and has gotten a green light to do so from both Frölunda and Timrå.

The usual good soldier over talent reasoning. Guys gets spots because they’ve played with the age group for a long time. Nevermind that a guy like Ginning hasn’t developed much since he was 16 and the main reason he was ahead of his peers back then was early maturity. Similar story with some of the forwards. Oh well, the combo of goalies and the rest of the talent on D could very well see the team go far if PP and at least one forward line clicks.

Okay that makes more sense then. The concussion perhaps wasn't that bad then.
I usually don't always agree with Montén, but I kinda like Nässén and Öberg on the team. And that Öberg played for the same youth team as I did as a kid, prior to joining Örebro HK, is a personal plus for me at least haha...

Forwards are pretty good if you don't look at the centers...

I am glad, albeit suprised, that Öberg made the team acutally. But I like what I have seen from his this season and Montén was pretty adamant about how he will be used (penalty killing and being gritty etc) and I guess you need those kind of role players as well.

Alright sure i get that Montén wanted Ginning, but why isn't Söderström above Broberg atleast?

Highly disagree that Ginning should be on the team btw, but whatever, Monten wanted a physical guy with character. But i don't see how Söderström isn't ahead of Broberg, like at all.

I agree with all of you who says Söderström shold be in the team. But all hope isnt lost as I doubt both Boqvist and Sandin will be eligible. But after watching some clips and reading what some experts say, is there some kind of "bad feelings" between Montén and Söderström you guys thinks? I watched the clip on Aftonbladet especially where they ask one of the experts about this and he says (sorry for bad translation)_

"- I am very suprised. He was not picked last year, and he has said no to participate in several tournaments leading up to the WJC for various reasons.
-
So, do you think there is some issues between Söderström and the mangement team?
- Montén himself says that "I cant have done anything as I never had him." But well, I dont know.. of course you have to start to ponder about what the relationship is like considering what have happened in the past."

So if David Gustafsson dont come and Hållander is still injured, who will be next in line?

Anyways an attempt on current lines:

Fagemo - Olofsson - Berggren
Raymond - Henrikson - Holtz
Höglander - Pasic - Eriksson
Öberg - Bäck - Nässen

Björnfot - Lundkvist
Broberg - Norlinder
Ginning

Nah man, 1st pair will be Ginning - Lundkvist.

The expert doesn't sound very much like an expert.

WJSS Arizona declined for him, and then during the 4-nations in August he was at their camp. So that leaves 1 tournament he personally could have declined: the november one. Guess what happened there? He accepted and then got injured so they had to replace him.

I can’t watch the SHL. So all I can do is look at stats:

Of all PLAYERS (not just D) under the age of 20 in the SHL, Soderstrom is tied for 6th in scoring.

Among D he’s 2nd. And he’s only played 13 games. The guy ahead of him has played 22.

Soderstrom has 7 points in 13 games. 2g and 5a. Filip Broberg who was taken 8h overall has 2 points (no goals) in 22 games.

Beoberg’s team has scored 62 goals in 22 games and is in 7th place. Soderberg’s team has scored 49 goals and is in 10th place.Three leading scorers in Broberg’s team have 20pts, 20pts and 15pts. On Soderstrom’s team they have 15, 13 and 10.

So what gives? Why no invite for Soderstrom?

Montén. Sweden's international junior coaches aren't known for being even as good as mediocre, and Montén is a prime example of what's wrong with them.
