Yea I know they were warned not to do that. They still went and did it just in case the league would change their minds. I don't fault Habs, Hawks, Panthers or Blues for giving it a shot.

Pittsburgh traded their first to Minnesota in the Zucker trade. However it's a conditional pick.

The condition being that if Pens miss the playoffs, they have the option to keep the 2020 1st round pick and send Minnesota their 2021 1st no matter where it falls. Or they can give Minnesota their 2020 1st and keep their 2021 1st.

Don't worry. Price has sucked for each start of the last 3 seasons. He's also been very average in the playoffs career wise. We lost Kovalchuk, Scandella, etc. Chances are we will lose.

Re-read my post. Placeholder regards the lottery. The Harding joke would be so that we lose against pittsburgh and have a chance to draft top 3. Both things have nothing to do with where they would've finished in the season.

Aaaaaaaah. This is f***ing stupid, we just got robbed of our ~19% odds to win a top3 pick.

After this avalanche of dumb, to get a top3 pick the Habs need to lose in the play-in then one of Team A to H need to win a top3 pick in phase1 THEN the Habs need to draw the winning letter via the phase2 lottery.

God, this is dumb, classic NHL gimmick.

Let's just hope that no teams out of the top 7 win a top 3 pick. Then we can rest safely in the knowledge we are not missing out on anything and just cheer for the team to go far, even if it's the COVID cup.... even if just for the sake of being able to troll other teams on HF forever.

I honestly wonder if management is unhappy with this scenario. Even they have seemed to have more self awareness of the team's flaws over the last year.

I think these are the most probable scenarios in order.

1. We lose to the Pens and draft 8-11

2. We beat the Pens but lose the next round and draft 16+

3. We lose to the Pens and we win a draft lottery spot

4. We lose to the Pens and we win Alexis Lafreniere

5. Every other conceivable option

6. We win the Stanley Cup
