I'm starting to wonder WTF are we doing.

We need to replace Krug > Schmidt
Continue to find secondary scoring > The Hoff Shot

Then done. Sign Jake and lets see how it gels.

Marchand-Bergeron-Pasta
Hoffman- Krejci- Smith
DeBrusk-Coyle- Studs

That's solid and a great blend of skill and physicality.
Who is physical out of that group? Hoffman is softer than puppy poop and the little physical game DeBrusk has would probably disappear watching Hoffman. Smith is the only one who goes to the net the rest are perimeter players

Sweeney wants Barzal here’s his chance

no team is cooked more than Islanders

Tampa has nothing on then for salary problems

He doesn't want Barzal because he didn't like his answer to a question at the draft combine. And here we are, 5 years later, starved for impact forwards that will help presently and in the future. Wonder if there's any correlation between the Bruins drafting for character over skill and their current predicament. :sarcasm:

Bang on- offer Dadonov or Hoffman 3/4 years 5-6 M

Anyone who spends time in CF knows many teams are screwed like Tampa, Toronto, Islanders, Rangers etc there’s more now or going forward

the team in very good shape now and especially next year Bbbbbboston

Tyler Johnson get the email yet time to come up with career ending rash or fake shoulder injury so they can keep Cirelli and maybe Sergachev

I don't think anyone here is worried about the cap situation - clearly the Bruins are in good shape. The issue is a) are they willing to spend, and more importantly b) can Sweeney close deals?

Bottom line is DS is supposedly in on a ton of potential trades/signings, and he loses all of them. He's great at signing his own players to solid contracts. He's terrible at adding from the outside. And here we need the latter...tough position to be in.

I get it - I'm not saying physical in the traditional sense. But it is a speed/skill game now whether we like it or not. Its about who can out-score the opposition now not out-hit. Thats where its going to. This isn't an instance. Studnika, Smith and Coyle will have to use their size and lead the physical role all the while capable of scoring 60 between them.

Bet they regret their off season comments. You know, the ones acknowledging the very limited window left for the core and the need for changes to improve.

Should have launched right into the “Bergy’s never felt younger” and hyped up the prospects if you were gonna **** it up like this.
Remember in 2015 when Neely said they were going to have “an exhaustive search” for their next GM, yet they weren’t seriously close to getting anyone from outside the organization? Yes, Cam, it was “exhaustive“ for you to waddle 10 feet down the hall to Sweeney’s office.

No one should believe a single word that comes out of the mouths of Sweeney and Neely.

Blame the players on the ice
Sorry, Blame goes to management for icing an undermnned team. No second line scoring cost us last year and five years not addressing wingers for Krejci, a world class center. I blame poor over all management in several area's of importance. This guy is living off Bergie, Marchand, Krejci, Pasta, Chara, Krug, Rask.........None of which he is responsible for having. He has not added an impact player in five years. McAvoy is just about there.....But in five years. Not one impact player. The guy is the worst. Killing this team slowly.

I would counter with Coyle. I think he's been a borderline impact player, at the very least a solid piece.

But overall, you're right. He's been dreadful at adding talent from outside the organization. Can't win in a competitive bidding situation, can't lure impact players, and clearly can't close significant trades.

Sweeney was on the ice game 7 vs St Louis?
Blame to players, they had more than enough talent to win last year

Absolutely agree. In two years we are going to crash awfully back down to earth. Then in two more years they’ll finally realize Sweeney isn’t very good at his job and it’ll be way too late. We are aging out with nothing in the pipeline

So Hoffman, a guy who has consistently put up 30 goal/30 assists on average the past two years and has averaged 58 points a season since entering the league is a big risk?

But Duclair, a guy who wasn't qualified as an RFA by his 6th team, and scored a grand total of 2 goals in the 29 games after Xmas, would be a fine add?

Did you mean Hoffman would be a fine add and Duclair is a big risk? Because you would be correct.
Sorry yes that’s what I meant

Starting to think Sweeney is narcissism and control freak. Seems like if he doesn’t like something somebody says he avoids them over talent and what the player brings. It’s weird.

I'm totally talking out of my ass here, but it feels/looks like there's a huge chasm between the type of players the pro scouts target and the type the amateur scouts target. Feels like the entire organization is bipolar

speed/skill in regular season, physical in playoff when it counts....and all other teams in our division are getting more physical now

Yes they are. Kase is the big wildcard. If he ends up what they thought he could be when acquiring him, it's a great move. If not, back to the well for another try. I would still like them to sign a top 6 wing to complete that group. Bjork is a big ? on the roster and it hasn't looked great for him recently, and JDB should be on the third line. That said, you are right, it is better than this time last season when Par and B Ritchie were the off season forward signings. If they think this group is good enough then they still need to look at a LHD incoming that is not named Chara and it will be a solid team.
