What do we have for cap space left as of now? I’m wondering if Sweeney is waiting out teams trying to become cap compliant and take advantage of them

Your numbers are off. They would be at 82,722,259 and that isn't even counting the bonuses which would add another 2 mil. They would be over by 3 million and that isn't even counting that they would need another forward.

Well, then Moore and Ritchie have to go for late round picks/future consideration. Call up Vaak and Senyshyn/Blidh from Providence. That would give them $2,6M.
Bonuses if reached could be moved to next year's cap.

You already have Zboril on the team and you would still be over the cap anyways.

And we still need to sign DeBrusk. I have a feeling we’re going to get a pretty camp trade moving out a lesser contract for a better player with more cap

I’m not mad at the idea. Killorn would add To our forward depth nicely but if we are going to be helping out TB I would rather go hard after Sergachev

Oilers fan here. Would you guys do Cehlarik for Chiasson? Not a sexy trade by any means but Chiasson can at least push Kase and Wagner for minutes and has experience as a net front presence on the PP.

This is a dream lineup but how do you get Laine here and also how do you get Sweeney to have balls to offersheet? I assume Laine would cost atleast one 1st pick and Barzals offersheet is 4(?). We would be really strong though, I like it alot.

IF we suck next season do you guys see Marchand being traded? He is capable of 100 points and the return would be massive with that contract. He is one of my favourite players and I'd love for him to retire as a Bruin but IF we suck I would want him to win another cup aswell.

IF that happened, what do you guys think the return would be for him and where would he waive his NMC?

I’d never trade Marchand. He is a top 5 winger in the world with a massive heart.

I don't believe the notion that Sweeney is gun shy when it comes to an offer sheet.

In 2016, he bought out Denis Seidenberg with the intention of extending an offer sheet to a defenseman almost everyone here would have drooled over. It never materialized and that was probably due to the player not wanting to sign it.

Retain 50% on Chiasson and I'd think about it.

Bruins honestly shouldn't have room for either Chiasson or Cehlarik. If you want Cehlarik, a mid draft pick should probably do it, and leave Chiasson out of it.

Laine wants out. Winnipeg needs an upgrade on D. To tempt Jets to bite I would even consider moving out Carlo as a center piece of the deal. Carlo, signed DeBrusk at $3.3-3.5/3 years and a 1b prospect (Zboril/Vaak) should be enough without the need to include the 1st rd pick.
Of course moving Carlo will create a gap which could be solved with an offer sheet of Cernak at $4.2M/3 years (compensation is Bruins 2nd rd pick 2021).
Bruins should go hard after Laine regardles if they try to offer sheet any RFA centers ( Barzal/Dubois/Cirelli ) or not.

Laine Krejci Pastrnak ($6,750,000 + $7,250,000 + $6,666,667)
Marchand Bergeron Studnicka ($6,125,000 + $6,875,000 + $769,167)
Kase Coyle Smith ($2,600,000 + $5,250,000 + $3,100,000)
Lindholm Kuraly Wagner ($850,000 + $1,275,000 + $1,350,000)
Senyshyn ($700,000)

Grzelcyk McAvoy ($3,687,500 + $4,900,000)
Pelech Cernak ($1,600,000 + $4,200,000)
Clifton Lauzon ($1,000,000 + $850,000)
Miller ($1,250,000)

Rask, Halak ($7,000,000 + $2,250,000)

Retention on Backes $1,500,000

Total: $ 80,870,056 (including the bonuses)

Thats taking on 2 million right now where we dont have 2 million to fit. We still have people to sign and until that is finished I dont see any moves like this being possible.

This could all change quickly however if Boston can unload a contract or two.

so much more fun for us to create fantasy rosters if we dont need to deal with the cap. I give some props to the op for attempting to consider the cap, but here is another example that the cap is way more complicated then the typical fan wants to believe

teams dont spend right to the max unless they are screwed into it... most teams will try to leave at least a million dollars in the budget

rosters often have MORE THAN 23 CONTRACTS... there is constant situations that pop up where a guy gets the flu or has to take a couple days off for a concusion or whatever... he DOESNT GO ON LTIR but the team DOES CALL UP A REPLACEMENT

then there is the issue of end-of-year bonuses. you might screw yourself next year if you dont properly account for it this year

I like to see fantasy lineups by passionate fans... but there is only 1 puck... only x amount of pp time. loading a team up with a bunch of guys that play 1-way game isnt a path to success.

you can look right at Toronto the last couple years what happens if you try to dress 9 guys that dont play physical and are weak at their own zone defense. it might seem exciting when you watch them win a meaningless game 9-1 in November... but they havent won a playoff round yet and now all their guys are overpaid and they are scrambling to ice a lineup

let the bruin kids backfill the bottom of the lineup spots. hope the top guys stay healthy... use our cap room to address weakness at the deadline
