Vince Dunn is very similar to Matt Grzelcyk from my limited understanding of him. Idk if 2 Matt Grzelcyks sound like the worst thing in the world, but we wouldn't exactly have size on the back end with the exception of a wilted Chara and a one-legged Miller.

EDIT: I'm dumb. Forgot Carlo is 6'5
They're not comparable at all.

Matt Grzelcyk: 5'9" 174 lbs.

Vince Dunn: 6'0" 203 lbs.

Also, check out the stats and Dunn beats out our munchkin by a wide margin.

why? Studnicka is ass?

Not sure what forward core you are comparing the Bruins to ... we need to see what players like Studnicka, Frederic can do

Bennett has been underwhelming for the Flames. But is a really strong playoff performer. A change of scenery would be good for him. I'm a fan of his game. Tough customer

1st Line - Typical 1st line. Nothing new

2nd line - Bennett is an unproven winger who has underperformed in Calgary. I think getting another player who's unproven and MAY BE a good 2nd line option instead of a legitimate top 6 forward is the most Don Sweeney thing ever. He is a downgrade from Debrusk. Coyle is more reliable as a 3C while we're at it. Craig Smith is more fit as a 3rd line winger. Debrusk and Kase > Bennett - Smith. That's a 3rd line as our 2nd line.

3rd line - Trent Frederic and Jack Studnicka our 2 young guys that you're really banking on being your 3rd line wingers. Are we cup contenders or rebuilders? Are Frederic and Studnicka guys you can rely on in the playoffs? You need proven 3rd line wingers to solidify that 3rd line. Whole reason we got someone like Craig Smith.

4th line is whatever.

This just makes us a worse team. Our forward core gets a downgrade as our 2nd line is not up to par and our 3rd line relies on unproven talent with Krejci.

I would take Bennett over Debrusk. For the sole reason, Bennett performs in the playoffs and outside of some hero goals, Debrusk is a ghost. He doesn't hit, he doesn't win board battles, he is ineffective in front of the net

Bruins are a strong regular season team with Debrusk or no Debrusk. Need better playoff warriors

No, we are not a cup contending team next season. Its a dead giveaway with what has been happening this offseason thus far. I mean unless Donny is trying to fit in Hoffman as we speak, the Bruins are going to go on a semi rebuild .... but still good enough to make the playoffs

Team still looks legit.
Don’t know how many years some of our older players have, but I don’t think next season will be it.
Little nervous about the Defenseman, if Big Z doesn’t resign we lost 2 defenders. We probably have enough in the pipeline to replace but if the injury bug hits we potentially could see major issues.
Scoring will be good I feel, still hate Debrusk on Krejcis wing that has proven time and time again to not be the correct formula.
Good news is we still have an amazing team that brings us a chance at a cup, Sweeney and the management team hopefully see the holes we need to fill through out the season then fix them at the deadline we got a legit shot.

I also would take Bennett over Debrusk. Bennett would fill a need in physicality. Debrusk is a meh player who is invisible way too often.

I'm fine with acquiring Bennet... but Jesus Christ.

The obsession with getting grit over skill is really mindblowing sometimes.

We want to acquire Bennet, you don't get rid of the one winger from the organization that's actually scored more than 20 goals in season. If we don't acquire a better winger than Debrusk, you don't downgrade him...

Debrusks "struggling" season is just as good as Bennett's BEST season.

Bennett has 65 goals at 24. Where's the downgrade?

Why give up a good player like DeBrusk when you can offer sheet Fleury? Carolina is in a bind with Hamilton, Pesce, Slavin, Gardner, Skjei and Bean on the doorstep for defense. And the Expansion Draft looming at the end of the season.
The obvious answer to the sensible question that you have is that Sweeney would never step on another GM's toes. He doesn't care for con-fron-ta-tion.

In 160 more games? 2 more full seasons.

I like Bennett, but Bruins really need to stop trading away guys that can actually score goals for lesser players.

Upgrade Debrusk, fine. Bennett is not that.

Compare Debrusk goals/points per game avg in the playoffs vs Bennett

Bennett ppg average is better

Bennett needs a change of scenery

I hear yah on him but not for DeBrusk

This season is probably going to be a shit show anyways and Kuraly is a UFA after this season - the guy I’d target Is Marcus Foligno. He turned 29 in August Is tough as nails and would be an ideal fit at LW

He’s a UFA after the season and maybe you grab him at deadline - only concern is Wild like him

Foligno- Frederic-Wagner would be a good in your face line

Bennett I thought was a future 25 guy coming out in draft but he’s definitely a tough kid

DeBrusk 29G/82 GP last 2 seasons

I would not have believed it if I didn’t do the math

he’s way to inconsistent but I can see him taking next step up this yr
