Beleskey/Backes were free agent signings. OS is different. The guy is ours if the team cannot match.

Blues are more than a million over the cap. An offer sheet between~2 - 4 million would cost us a third rounder. So all it takes are the huevos to make the offer.

I'm ok with that.

There's no way Bruins get Barzal without a time machine at this point. And in 2020, if they could, no one in their right mind would/should pass over acquiring Barzal because they have a 34 year old #2 center who seems to be more complementary at this stage in his career. I think there's zero chance we see Barzal in a Bruins jersey while Sweeney is GM.
They match anything all day. He would be let go. That’s a dream.

Debrusk for Haydyn Fleury. Fair deal? You'd still have to trade Moore somewhere to sign Grzelcyk and UFA Hoffman.
Why give up a good player like DeBrusk when you can offer sheet Fleury? Carolina is in a bind with Hamilton, Pesce, Slavin, Gardner, Skjei and Bean on the doorstep for defense. And the Expansion Draft looming at the end of the season.

If you're going to offer sheet anyone it should be Sergachev.

That would be nice, too. Or Vince Dunn from St. Louis. The point I was making was that this is a tool Sweeney can use to acquire skilled young players and not have to surrender talent the likes of Jake DeBrusk.

of course you’d have to sign Jake to prevent a Carolina reprisal.

I don't think Laine would be very happy on the Bruins with Pasta ahead of him. I think he wants to be the 1st line go to goal scorer wherever he goes.

He's complaining now that he's not getting ice time with Scheifele. Wait until a couple years from now how he would feel with Bergeron and Krejci gone.

Vince Dunn is very similar to Matt Grzelcyk from my limited understanding of him. Idk if 2 Matt Grzelcyks sound like the worst thing in the world, but we wouldn't exactly have size on the back end with the exception of a wilted Chara and a one-legged Miller.

EDIT: I'm dumb. Forgot Carlo is 6'5

The talk of acquiring top players with offer sheets is unrealistic. You do understand that the player must choose to sign the offer sheet and unless the Bruins offer is substantially higher than what their current team is offering-why would they? Any offer to have them consider signing will entail substantial draft picks as compensation

Well, of course the player has to sign the offer sheet. That's why it's called OFFER sheet. Let's take Tampa Bay for example (Sergachev). The franchise is ~$3m below the cap. If Sweeney offers between 3 and four million the Rays have to match to keep its player. That puts it over the cap with Cirelli and Cernak still to sign.

The compensation in this case is a second round pick, a fair price for a young talented LHD.

If Tampa matches, we go after Cirelli or move on to St. Louis (Dunn) or Carolina (Fleury). The major issue from the Bruins point of view is clearing space to make the offers. Signing Miller to $1.50m didn't help. And DeBrusk still needs to be locked up.

I bet that Sweeney will never make offers to a player from the Rays. :DD

Sweeney offering him between 3-4 million and him signing it are 2 mutual exclusive things though.

Gotta believe Debrusk is being trade to Oilers hanging with Loui.
Makes sense if Klefbom was there and healthy but I dont see it now with him being out. Oil cant afford to give up help on the blue-line.

Wouldn't mind seeing a trade with the Flames for Monahan and Hanifan but I have very little faith in Sweeney. I know now why he was doing his own yard work, he didn't have the competence to bring someone in from outside of the family. :sarcasm:
