I'm not good at these outside of EA Sports so bare with me here...
What about;

Ryan Dzingel
Martin Necas
Jake Bean
3rd-4th (for taking on Dzingel and for giving up the best player)

Jake DeBrusk
Jakub Zbroil

I don't want to deal JD but we get a LHD in Bean that fills Krug's role and has the potential to be better and is bigger. I know he hasn't broken the Canes lineup but he is behind a heavy D group and I think he's NHL ready a year ago. Dzingel is a 20+ goal scorer and needs to be taken for cap reasons but is only signed for the year and could provide us with some depth scoring and speed. Necas is a C/RW with a right shot that could play anywhere in the line up imo and has a great cap hit. We stay young and fill a couple holes with potential so it is a bit of a high risk high reward trade. Didn't throw cap numbers around so not sure if it'll work for them entirely after JD signs.

Zbroil is somewhat a throw in, I don't know if they even need/want the LHD depth and could maybe be swapped out for another prospect of their liking.

No it isn't and here's the problem- he wasn't good before the bubble, he was going downhill as the season progressed- and physical marvel that he is, we saw what the layoff did to him in terms of playing at the level needed for the NHL. At 43 he isn't coming back from that. Not with another 4 month or who knows how long of a layoff. It surely affected some others, but it's one thing to rebound when you are 23 like Brandon Carlo and another when you are essentially middle-aged.
Agreed. And the main reason I personally want big Z to hang em up aside from him being the human turnstile is I really want CM73 to just be able to take off and go nuts turning into the elite elite franchise dman he is. Imo he absolutely can not do that with 33 next to him

Agree 100%, he is a drag on Charlie who can't play his game because he has to cover for Lurch on the blueline. That +26 last season everyone talks about to point out great he still is is as much of a product of Charlie working his ass off and being on the ice with Bergeron and Marchand as it is his abilities.

I thought he was decent, but faster players were especially able to exploit his slowness this season. If he does come back, I hope it's not in a top 4 role. I wouldn't mind seeing him platooning with someone like Zboril on the 3rd pairing, but I am wondering if he does decide to retire if the NHL is off for a while and if there's another bubble.

I think it's time to see what McAvoy and Carlo can do leading their own pairings instead of having to worry to cover for Chara or Krug defensively.

As much as I want Chara to retire, if rather sign him than see him in Montreal.

Also he'd still probably be their 3rd or 4th best defenseman (as sad as that is), and would likely return something nice at the deadline if they're not in the playoff picture.

Looking at the current crop of free agents on cap friendly. Aside from the obvious, I wouldn't mind giving a look at Erik Haula. Liked him in Minnesota. Didn't even realize he scored almost 30 goals a couple years ago with expansion Vegas. Can play up or down in the lineup. Center or wing. Good in the faceoff circle. Don't know what his injury situation is though. Probably a reason he's not signed. Should be looking at short term bargains at this point.

Necas in a non-starter for the Canes. They're not a dumping ground like they used to be. You couldn't trade Jake and Zboril for him straight-up. Canes say no. If you take him out, then you might have something.

Don't know much about the player besides stats, he seemed like a good fit in the middle 9. I'm sure there is another player that could be enticing to the B's to try to add some depth scoring unless they just take the pick and try to fill from within. I really want Bean in Bean Town

He's legit. They've been very patient and careful with his development and love him a lot. He will be their second line center in the near future.

Paraphrased from another site: Boston was willing to go higher for Taylor Hall. They had to clear cap space first. On Saturday and Sunday, Taylor Hall was hearing from Boston that "Yeah we can do this, but we need to clear up room first". Taylor Hall just wanted to know where he was going and decided on Buffalo and did not want to wait.

Signing Miller before anything else was sorted out is beyond mind blowing, especially if it caused ANY cap implications.

Definitely makes me continue to question management's judgement if true...
