He’s like a bigger Mike Modano or a less physical Eric Lindros...
Damn, we’re in a great spot to continue building our pipeline and after the way we ended the season and seeing the Vets give a damn again.. I’m glad these kids won’t be exposed to a half ass, loser culture during their prime development years

Hes not the same guy because he hates to lose and the club has not been actively trying to win since Stevens was fired and theyve told him as such. Put a guy like him in a position where the club isnt giving the team the tools to win and eventually he has to deal with the constant losing somehow.

The guys a competitor and an elite one at that. Show him that the clubs ready to win again, give him the prospects and let him play with Bjornfoot who he loves and he'll be more motivated than ever once he gets an opportunity to win again.

Oh. The old "he hates to lose" so he just accepts losing. "He's an elite competitor" who does not want to compete. Kobe Bryant is turning in his grave.

Lots of guys get moved to the wings once they turn pro. Patrik Elias was a center, but played the bulk of his career at LW, then played center again later in his career. Zach Parise flopped as a center in his rookie season then suddenly things clicked when he was shifted to LW. Even Madden's dad started as a winger for the Devils but eventually went back into the middle as the roster got sorted out.

yup - Blake hit on this, but you can never have too many centers. Easy to move a center to wing but not vice versa

Gotta say, the history of the #2 pick looks really good, fewest games played in the last 25 years (excluding recent picks): 496, Andrei Zyuzin. A few solid if unspectacular selections (Sam Reinhart & Ryan Murray), as I look at it, people would look at Reinhart quite differently if he wasn't picked right before Draisaitl.

Agreed. Also, Ryan Murray is an excellent player; he just can't stay healthy. As far as peak potential goes, I think he's right up there with Jones and Werenski.

I think many will agree with this but the caveat--coming from a guy approaching 40--is that you can't just flip the switch in your 30s like you could before. It was apparent at times last year that he was physically struggling as well. Could be any amount of reasons for that, but it's going to take more than the proverbial 'on' to keep him rolling like he can.

This is some good stuff, has a lot little things Stutzle does so well, not just pretty passes & shots resulting in goals.

Man I freaking love his playmaking.

Also satisfying watching JJ Peterka just roof the shit out of the puck

Love the emergence of top end German talent.

I love Stutzle and would love to draft him. I know it’s only videos we are watching but the Byfield video posted earlier makes me way more excited for what Byfield would bring over Stutzle. Both are awesome but Byfields size with speed And smarts will be a killer

You know we are in a really good spot. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with either prospect. They're both insanely different players, but they both bring something to the table that this team is severely lacking and bringing in another dynamic element to the offense. I still go with Byfield, but if the draft comes around and Yanetti announces we're drafting Stutzle I won't blink an eye.

As the days go on I am freaking ecstatic. Gone are the days when we pin our hopes on late second-rounders to carry the franchise in the future. Not saying we don't have quality guys in the pipeline who are drafted at that point or later, it's just that all of our hopes and dreams are not riding on them outperforming their draft positions. And that's damn good feeling.

I like Stutzle way more but with the Kings "wokeness" and ability to market Byfield I fully expect him to be picked.

Sure, those are the reasons, not that he's eminently qualified after putting up one of the best draft-eligible seasons in OHL history, or that he's 8-10 months younger than the Laf or Stutzle and is oozing extra potential as a result, or that he's got above-average NHL speed and agility, elite hands, and the hockey IQ to lead a team offensively.

Of all the arguments you could make, holding "wokeness" against a team selecting Byfield over Stutzle? Really?

Peterka is a guy I’m hoping the Kings target, potentially trading back into the ladder stages of the 1st if he were to slide down the board a bit.

He’s got some serious game and would be a tremendous add to the prospect cupboard.

From everything we have heard the Kings are definitely not going to draft based on positional need, so I don't know why we would even be debating winger vs center. The intriguing thing for me about Stutzle is he seems to have the highest potential in the draft, the question is whether he reaches it. It sounds like he could be a superstar and his playmaking at top speed is absolutely phenomenal. I think Byfield is a much safer bet of a prospect; his mix of size, speed and skill almost guarantees that he is going to be a top 6 forward in the NHL and likely a good to great 1C.

I have concerns about Stutzle. I’m not a pro scout so maybe I am missing something, but he only had 7 goals in the 19-20 season. He had decent stats in prior seasons, but 7 goals does not stand out as elite to me.

He may have speed and motor, but all that may mean is we have another Kempe, who has similar attributes but can’t score 30 goals.

I would take my chances with Byfield.
