They’re still going to end up with two excellent players, one of Byfield or Stutzle and likely Drysdale or even Sanderson at 5.

They also have the Islanders 1st.

That combined with their tremendous prospect pool should set them up to be a force.

Too bad Melnyk is there. He needs to go.

I'm going to be honest, I'm disappointed. There's a pretty big drop from Lafreniere to #2. Byfield seems raw and Stutzle plays overseas.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's Stutzle. Anschutz owns a team in Germany and Yanetti just mentioned that they have a heavy presence (of scouts) in Germany.

Man.. I know I shouldn't complain, we jumped from 4 to 2.. Most of us thought we'd be dropping from 4 to 7, but **** we were SO close to Lafreniere. Not to mention, a PLACEHOLDER team gets #1? Cmon. That's ridiculous.

i'm trying to temper my salt with the fact that odds were significantly better of us dropping than going to #2 so i have to kinda shut up, but yeah the oilers could just as easily get a #1 here which is exactly what started all this bullshit. that's just stupid. this lottery shit is stupid period.

i think byfield is probably the easy choice and i'm not sure our management is gonna take a (potential) chance on stutzle. they seem more like the easy choice types.

Trading up is a dream. No way any playoff team gives up the #1 overall. In the end, the Kings need to take BPA and move on. It's likely going to be Byfield, which is awesome. Take that outcome and run! Adding Byfield into this prospect pool with the veterans we have is ridiculous.

Disagree. I think Byfield is closer to LaF, whereas I can see an argument for Rossi, Raymond, or Drysdale over Stutzle.

Byfield was less than a month away from being a 2021 draft pick.

Even lists that have him at #3 say he projects as a #1 center. I think the bigger question is whether he can be a franchise 1C, or “just” a 1C, which is almost an insane thing to say.

Every pick can bust, even LaFreniere, but he’s shown a crazy amount of potential and he’s still so young.

As long as they don't rush him and develop him right, Byfield is easily capable of being an elite #1 center in the league. You have to secure the future down the middle. Take BPA, if you have to, trade one of our center prospects later on for defensive help.
