I am happy landing top 4 in this draft. Of course #1 would be great to land Laffy but I would be very happy to add the following 3

Stutzle - very fast, ridiculous edge work and scorers touch. We basically have Arty Party who can put a puck in the net but adding a guy that does it in a completely different manner would make it harder for then opposition to defend. Watching this guy skate makes me drool.

Byfield - ya, what can you say about a massive pivot that can score. I think worst case he is a big bodied 60 point a year second line center, best case a close to ppg center. Just feels like a nice safe pick.

Drysdale - an offensive weapon from the blue line. Shows up to play and can skate with the best of them. A little undersized but has a skill set that would be hard to pass up.

these are the guys that stand out to me so far. If we land a 2nd mid first pick the Connor Zary has made me take notice. Seems to be a more skilled Alex Iafallo and I use that term complimentary. Just hard on pucks, good sense, good skill and never takes a shift off. Just feels like an unsung hero type.

Byfield's biggest problem is that he's a 2010s King :laugh:

I agree on Stutzle, he just intrigues me because we've pretty much never had a player like him since Palffy. I think he adds an element that would be phenomenal with snipers like Kaliyev, or even Vilardi.

Is he draft eligible or already taken haven't even checked? Not bad. Seems like the injury to Jenik has affected AK. Hasn't been as productive as before just an observation.

He's draft eligible this year. It's why I mentioned it in this thread :P

Mysak has great wheels. Pretty sure he already leads the OHL in short handed goals.

I have taken a liking to him.

I mentioned in another thread that he seems to be climbing in some publications. I’ve seen him as high as 13. Bob MacKenzie has him in the 40’s in his latest rankings.

Kid is going to be a 1st round pick.

I was looking at CapFriendly and decided to look at NHL defenseman with 15 plus games this season in the NHL. I noticed that there are very few NHL defensemen that are 5'10" or shorter currently playing;

5'8" = 0
5'9" = 6
5'10" = 10
5'11" = 20
6'0" = 28

6'1" = 42
6'2" = 46
6'3" = 35

6'4" = 19
6'5" = 12
6'6" = 5
6'7" = 1
6'8" = 1
6'9" = Zdeno Chara

So I started looking at my 2020 NHL Draft Rankings and decided to red flag defenseman in the 5'8" to 5'10" height range since there are only 16 total NHL Defenseman currently playing in the NHL. These kids are very young and could possibly grow to 5'11" but why take the chance if there is a similarly skilled player that is already 5'11" (or taller, the 6'1" to 6'3" seems to be optimum).

My red-flagged defenseman are;
Emil Andre, Lukas Cormier, Michael Benning, Anton Johannesson, Marek Blaha, Charlie Desroches, Lieyton Moore, Noah Delemont and Miguel Tourigny. I see a lot of people are really high on Emil Andre and Michael Benning but I don't see taking a chance when so many taller skilled defensemen are available.....

Before the narrative gains traction, we need to acknowledge that Byfield is a great skater.

Anyways, if we get one of Lafreniere Byfield Stutzle Rossi or Drysdale ill be ecstatic.

Definitely. My biggest issue from what I’ve seen from Byfield is that he does all the things we harp on Kopitar about - he’s glued to the half wall on power plays, and he’s a pass-first kind of guy even though he has a great shot. He’s one of the youngest players in the draft though and he’s a big boy, so a lot of that can change. To be clear, I’d be ecstatic if the Kings drafted any of Lafreniere, Byfield, Stutzle, Raymond, Rossi, and Drysdale.

For me the top 3 are Lafreniere, Stutzle, Byfield.
Anyone of these 3 players will make an major impact for us in the coming years.

Lafreniere: First line Star LW that we have been missing for years! Kings better just let him play his game. We need a potential PPG player and he fits that mold.
Stutzle: Germany is producing some quality players. His talent for stick-handling, skating and vision will make other players he plays with that much better. He is a center-wing that can dazzle. He will be a breath of fresh air compared to some of the boring 2-way players we draft\develop.
Byfield: Once he fills out he will be a stud. Will definatly take the pressure off of Vilardi and Turcotte for the center roles. Maybe flipping one to wing. Kings will try to develop him into a 2-way center a la Kopitar.

At 4-5 pick. Raymond/Drysdale

Raymond: Incrediably underated. I feel he can become a Marner type, great playermaker to go along with the Fagemo or Kaliyev snipers.
Drysdale: The best D in the draft and we need high end D prospects. He is not a Cale Makar or he will be in the top 3. So at 5 it makes sense to pick him.

If we somehow fail to get into the top 5 (yes it's still possible with ~30 games left and another lottery disaster)
Kings will probably go with the best 2 way player with character if the are out of the top 5. Assuming all above players are off the board. Wouldn't be surprised with Lundell or Rossi here. My pick would be Holtz. Good size, vision is underated. We can never have enough snipers, with the 2nd worse offense, we need scoring more than 2-way players.

This is a good draft to be in the top 5. If the Kings do manage to trade AMart and Toffoli, I don't think that there will be much problem with staying in that group.

Hockey Gods will be unfavorable to us again, thus I'm ruling out Lafrenière.

I just keep going back to Stützle. As @Raccoon Jesus mentioned, he's really intriguing and something we don't have. He makes players around him better and can create chances out of nothing.

Im not sure I like either deal. Both Martinez and Toffoli are better than middle to bottom tier prospects. Also the 2nd round picks may not pan out at all, and if they do they are usually depth players. We have a lot of that in the system.
The biggest return of these trades is really opening up roster spots to give younger players a chance to get in some games and hopefully play well enough to earn a role on the team.

Really wish we could package both to get a first round pick.

Push comes to shove, i'd probably do both of those deals, obviously would prefer to get a 2nd in this draft for Martinez, but if that's the best deal, so be it.

The prospects that are added, I do not like either. The Avs second rounder will almost be a 3rd rounder.

A 1st is a pipe dream, he is an UFA...
Yea a 1st rounder is not reality for either of them. You think both in a package together with some retention could return a first?
What would you think about trading for a project player instead of a 2nd round pick/low end prospect?
Like a former first rounder that needs a change. Pavel Zacha, Lias Andersson, Puljujarvi...

Yes but I doubt one team needs both TT and Marty.

I am also a weird one because I rather have two seconds than one late 1st rounder.

I doubt the rangers or devisl would be interested in our rentals given their current team make up or where they are in the standings. Pljujarvi I would absolutely target if I am Blake. Until Yamamoto got called up and has gone nuclear top 6 RW was a need for the oilers too. I think they should be a team in on Martinez too.

Man how weird is Martinez going to look in another jersey.
