This whole “
High end talent “ debate is laughable , a #6 pick isn’t a guaranteed “ high end talent “ pick where trading down to 15 or so is some huge downgrade. We will have lots of contracts coming off the books, we will
Have tons of money to spend after next season, we need to draft as many core 2/3 young liners as possible! When we lack a superstar, we can sign one or trade for one later on, we need the next core of Silfverbergs and we need more picks to make sure we have multiple versions of him

Signing or Trading for a superstar is not as easy as you think. The only free agent superstar the Ducks have EVER signed was Niedermayer, and that was because his brother played here.

I am hoping for Rossi and Reichel but I expect we end up with Sanderson and some wildcard at 27th or Grans if hes still there

I just hope the #27 isn't like Tracey who isn't turning out like we hoped he would. So wanted someone like Hoglander, Pinto, Lavoie, Kaliyev.
Speaking of Pinto, Ottawa is gonna have a decent roster in a few years all still on their ELCs.

what...it's been one years since we drafted him. how can you justifiably say this?

that’s a bit of an overreaction to Tracey honestly. I wanted Hoglander or Lavoie with that pick but it’s WAY too early to say it was a mistake. I agree that he didn’t have the best year last year though (post trade anyway).

LOL what? He's 19 years old, sure he struggled a bit when he got traded, but again he's 19 years old. None of the other prospects you named even blew their previous projections out of the water. If you're able to determine this early that he's a bust you should probably be a pro scout somewhere. Feelings are real, we get it, but no reason to be super salty.

I remember watching Tracey last year and feeling like the puck follows him around its early to make much of a determination there

I finally watched the Holtz video at first glance it does seem like he would be a natural fit with Zegras but is taking him 6 a reach?

I agree it's early to make a judgement on Tracey but I feel there are concerns. He is a smallish forward that does not skate too well and did not progress much in his D+1. I don't think his season was too great. He also was not invited to U-20 camp. And they invited a 16 year old forward there.

This is my take as well, for the most part. I don't care about his numbers. Yes, they went down after the trade but that's not what my opinion is based on.

Knew nothing about him before we drafted him. After having seen him play a decent amount last season, I see a guy who doesn't really have any standout skills. He's not big, he's not fast, he's not physical. He's not known for his two-way play, or his vision. He has a pretty good shot and a nose for the net. But I don't see anything in his skill set that would project as something that makes him a high end NHL player. Obviously players can develop, but usually they have at least one thing in their back pocket that will become even better and translate to a pro game. He seems awfully vanilla to me.

I definitely overreacted about Tracey but given the way this team is developing forwards i am worried about him and basicly everything you said. He does seem vanilla.
I have alot of confidence in the Dmen they drafted though.

His biggest asset is his play around the net, yes. But with his skating and strength he is going nowhere in the NHL. With not much of an improvement in D+1 it is concerning, yes. He was always a long term project but the trajectory has stagnated now. I hope he will be much improved when the season restarts.

Vanilla is the most accurate description. Maybe he's a safe pick to become a middle 6 forward.

Just for the record, I am not saying he will for sure bust - I think he can carve out a career, but it looks like it will require a lot of work (several years away) and might not be too big of a scorer anyways. I saw he was playing on PK as well FWIW

Put 2020 eligible prospects into the following categories, listing each player you could possibly fathom being selected by the Ducks at 6 -

A) Would be absolutely shocked if they are available

B) Players who you would not be surprised to see taken at 6 (if available). Feel free to list in order of preference

C) May be ranked as high as 6 by some teams but can't see Anaheim taking them

D) Players you would be surprised to see go as high as six, but still see some possibility as "reaches", remote as they may be

_______________________________________

A) Lafreniere, Byfield, Stutzle - not happening

B) Raymond, Rossi, Drysdale, Sanderson, Perfetti, Quinn, Holtz, Lundell - I think these are the most viable candidates

C) Askarov - might be on some teams top 5 or 6 but don't see a chance in hell we are one of those teams

D) Jarvis - Never see him ranked high enough to consider him a likely candidate but really like this prospect. Can't shake a feeling that he's the biggest riser on draft day, and that #6 might he his ceiling depending on how things shake down in front of us.

Anyone?
