If the Sens get a playmaker like Stutzle would the priority be to get a sniper after? The Sens don't really have that pure kind of shooter in their system other than Duclair. But he's been pretty hot or cold. Been watching some highlight videos and reading up on Holtz and the kid has a really lethal shot and seems to be right on point with accuracy. I see Raymond in the same kind of mold as Stutzle in comparison just about. Still giving a bigger edge to Stutzle. It's def something the Sens have kinda lacked in recent years. I do miss those Hoffman type one-timers.
Just curious what people are thinking what the Sens really need player playing style wise from this draft.

I had this thought as well but I think you have to go with the best player. For me that is Raymond, who along with Stutzle should still be capable scorers despite not being volume shooters. I wouldn't be too concerned about finding your prototypical sniper. Tkachuk is a volume shooter from the slot, Norris is more of a shot first type with a good one timer and can beat goaltenders from distance. Formenton is also a shot first type. Adding two line drivers in Stutzle and Raymond would also go along way in helping others score goals.

Really want Stutzle. Also, wouldn’t be upset if we select Quinn higher than expected from what I’ve read/viewed briefly.

Schneider would be interesting with the Isles pick. Could be Chabot’s Methot.

*All of these opinions could change as I learn/observe more.

Do you live in Quebec? Are you French Canadian?

If not, I would suggest you sit this one out. Lafrenière would boost attendance numbers a ton just like he would in Montreal.
I’m not French but I live in Ottawa. I’ll not sit this one out, thanks. I’ll post what I’m thinking.

Pretty sure the vast majority on this board said it doesn’t matter what happens on the ice because of our owner. Define “boost attendance numbers”. I doubt Lafreniere would have a huge impact on season tickets.

also he wouldn’t do anything to boost tickets in Montreal. They have no problems with that.

Oh yeah of course! Just seeing what people are thinking. Holtz is pretty intriguing the more I watch but also I hear a lot of Raymond in the highlights.

Maybe it’s just me and my own bias (I think we need to bolster our top end talent at forward, especially down the middle more than anything else), but I don’t think Drysdale or Sanderson are BPA at 3 or 5. I hope we get 2 of Byfield, Stutzle, Raymond, Rossi with those picks.

The Senators have a lot of holes to fill:
First line LW C RW
Second Line C
First Pair RD
Second Pair LD RD
Goaltender

Hopefully some of prospects will develop and take those positions (L. Brown, Norris, Batherson at F; Bernard-Docker, Thomson & Brannstrom at D; Soderstrom or someone at G).

It shows that he didn’t watch much of Quinn. The progression in Quinn’s game is what really stands out. He’s the 3rd best winger in the draft in my book.

I've been watching Quinn all year and had him in my top 10 for months when he was still considered a 10-20 guy.

50-60P a year (with around 30G) is a reasonable expectation of his potential. It's possible he could turn out better if his rapid progression continues though.

Oh ok I'm being discriminatory because I think actual French Canadians/Quebecers would know better about how French Canadians would attend more games if a superstar from Quebec were to play in Ottawa.

Lol wut.

Winning and or a new owner will bring the fans back. It doesn't matter where you are from.

Hard to say for sure but a comparable story is: when Pittsburgh drafted Crosby, they were so busy in terms of ticket sales that they had to rent rooms in a hotel in order to have office space to accommodate all the new sales people they had to hire to meet demand (according to Pierre McGuire who told the story on radio).

It is pretty reasonable to expect getting first overall would have had a pretty important effect on attendance. Marketing works, that is why there are entire university programs dedicated to it.

IMO Quinn would be guaranteed top 8 if the season hadn’t been cancelled.

That would go against everything everyone has argued saying there is no chance that this market accepts Melnyk again. Pittsburgh didn’t have a hated owner like that, and Crosby is Crosby, so it’s not really comparable.

I hope it would happen (I mean now it won’t obviously) but I have doubts due to the owner-fan relationship

If Pittsburgh doesn't get Crosby they almost assuredly move.

No one in Pittsburgh cared about the Penguins and that changed overnight.

How about targeting LA’s second like someone mentioned earlier.
If they have 4 guys in that tier, it works out perfectly no?
#2
for
#5, #33, and Logan Brown (we are drafting Byfield so I don’t mind adding him)

Kings get the same value they perceived at 2, plus the assets. If they want Brannstrom instead of Brown, I’d do that too.
Just want to hang on to the Isles pick I think.

we leave with Byfield and Stultze + what comes of the Isles pick.

I have said this over and over myself, but I thought Lafreniere was the one guy that might bring enough of a name and fanfare that people would show up just to see him and wouldn't be willing to miss it because of Melnyk.

Superstars can have that effect that other players or simply winning otherwise doesn't.
