made it an hour ten in. to about pick 20. will keep listening today.

their top 4 was pretty much all agreed on. Laf, Byfield, raymond, rossi. At 5 is when the discussions started. Drysdale vs Holtz. and then at 7-8 perfetti vs stutzle.

12-13-14-15 brought a lot of good discussion between Bourque, Jarvis, Brisson,.... gunler was going to be in the top 20 but everytime they discussed him he would fall for another player. helge Grans snuck in in the top 20.

My ranking hasn't changed much over the last few months but I find their thoughts interesting on Stutzle as I have my reservations on his play as well. That's why I wouldn't be surprised if the Sens took Raymond/Rossi over Stutzle. My top 15 is still for now:

1. Lafreniere
2. Byfield
3. Stutzle
4. Rossi
5. Raymond
6. Drysdale
7. Perfetti
8. Holtz
9. Lundell
10. Sanderson
11. Jarvis
12. Quinn
13. Askarov
14. Zary
15. Bourque

it is what it is.

i personally thought Stutzle got overhyped and i didnt think he was THAT great at the wjc either. like sure on the PP hes electric he flies off that half wall, he rifles passes across the ice (not always connect) hes electric. but not wowed. so this jives with my bias. would i have him 8, no. theres too many tools there to have him that low. i cant see having perfetti before him, but not Holtz. but theres video on top of video of him skating and stickhandling himself into trouble repeatedly, which is not the third video ive seen with that being the complaint.

I mean i can watch iso vids and highlight packs all i want but its nice to hear what other people think. especialy when they delve a little deeper like im board of Bobs list just using classic NHL buzzwords.,
Like I said, it’s a good listen, it’s always good to hear people who have been paying attention talk about the draft, even if I disagree with the way it’s done or what’s said.

This one was tough to listen to explanations into the why, imo

I still enjoyed the talk on the prospects.

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about the draft and I’ve wrapped my head around the fact that LA will pick Stutzle and we get Byfield as our future 1C.

But in the event LA picks Byfield, I’m still going to be ecstatic about getting Stutzle. The kid is a combination of hard work, skill and determination to be the best. Yes, I would be beyond ecstatic to add Byfield, but adding Stutzle extreme skill to the team will be so exciting and I think he will mesh perfectly with the players we already have in the system

I can’t believe we’re in this position. Literally a win win.

If we go the FF route and we get both Stutzle and Raymond.

i need to watch a bit more Raymond. from what i have seen hes there where you have him. but so many people i read have him higher. so makes me want to try and find some more clips.

Quinn is another guy that is one of 2 guys ive seen live multiple times, (other obviously being Rossi) and im very meh lmao. and ive really fallen for holloway. i have holloway right after 10 and if we get him at anything past 15 i think its a steal.

I have no specific ones that I find better than others I just listen to pretty much whatever I can get my hands on for the trek to and from work, though I liked the Millard-Button Tracking the Draft podcast that started last week, only had segments on Neighbors, Sokolov, Daws and Sanderson so far. Next one is out tomorrow.

Yah I have Holloway at 16 but he can definitely creep up in the top 15. Others that are rising on my list are Brisson and Amirov. Regarding Raymond, I just can't find enough clips on him to see just how good he is. He could be an absolute steal outside the top 5.

Yeah im in the same place with Raymond but i feel guilty about it.. i have him 5 by default based on the little ive seen and based on consensus, which i hate doing. i need to see him more.

Holloway i just get that feeling. now in my hobbying of watching prospects ive been wrong way more than right (obviously) but sometimes when you watch a guy and just how they skate and stickhandle you just think theres more there, i felt that way the first time i saw Dzingel play, i just said this guy is an absolute steal. I had a buddy playing against him in NCAA telling me nah he wont make it consistently and im an idiot disagreeing with a guy actually playing against him lmao. and i felt that way the first time i say batherson at camp. they just do some little thing that makes you think shit this guy is good.

have you heard anything from the Q, i thought you said youre not as plugged in as you once were.. i remember you mentioning Bourque as a guy to look for in the teens
Nowhere near as plugged in, not working for a team and only hear things second hand from my friends still involved in the league, and small bits when I’m at the rink with them.

Bourque is definitely a guy to look for, we will have seen him a ton, and we will have been aware of him for much longer than other teams with De Blois on the staff. He was the guy in charge of drafting him 3rd to Shawinigan.

De Blois has been following these draft eligible kids from the Q since they were 14/15, 2 years before most people begin taking notice, he’s going to have a lot of insight and be looked at a lot from the Q side of things. He already has had working relationships with guys, and has been paying close attention and interviewed pretty much every one of them prior to this year.

Likewise with Sett Jarvis, Strumm was a part of the team drafting him in the W, and has had a working relationship as well.

From what I’ve read (could be wrong) Holloway has some of the best lateral agility in this draft. His stick handling in tight is also very good. Highly transition-able skills in today’s NHL.

As noted, Wisconsin was a mess this year and he was used as a tough minutes guy. There’s a lot to think there’s more untapped there.

I just look at trends and try to think how the Mann’s think - and this kid screams ‘with the __ selection in the 2020 draft, the Ottawa Senators select’

Bourque or Jarvis would be nice picks

Let’s be fair. Nothing about norris rookie pro year indicates he’s a low ceiling guy. He may still be one, but his rookie season was dope.
Just poking fun on how similar they all seem. All American centers that play a two way game, represented their country in the world juniors, etc. Missing Bowers but he's not with us anymore.

IDK, in my opinion the biggest challenge in Ottawa the past few years has been the ability, or rather the inability, to exit our zone with puck control and enter the O zone with puck control. The best cure for that is high end PMDs.

So much talk about line drivers.....the biggest driver of play is high end PMDs....something Ottawa fans should understand better than most after witnessing EK's prime
Bang on, man im agreeing with you way too much these days. Must be some sort of alternate universe.

Absolutely merc'd it at draftsim:

3. Stutzle, C
5. Rossi, C
21. Mysak, LW/C
33. Perreault, C
49. Grans, RD
52. Mukhamadullin, LD
55. Colangelo, RW
64. Villeneuve, RD
74. Tuch, LW
95. Finley, C
152. Rolston, RW
158. Biondi, C
185. Theo Nordlund, LD (it was either him or Dustin Rose)

All players except Nordlund and Villeneuve are on Bob's list.

I chose Drysdale over Raymond (Rossi already gone to DET), moving away from my own ranking just to see how it looks like:

3. Stutzle, C
5. Drysdale, RD
21. Mysak, LW/C
33. Perreault, C
49. Foudy, C
52. Mukhamadullin, LD
55. Savoie, LW
64. Kleven, LD
74. Tuch, LW
95. Ovchinnikov, LW
152. Sokolov, LW
158. Slukynsky, C
185. Langenbrunner, RD

As comparison, I still prefer the quoted draft with two forwards at 3&5.

And draftsim is too easy, they should benefit from updating their rankings close to Bob's.
