I have some wonderful inside info for you guys

Without trying to sound like I'm flexing too much, and feel free not to believe any of it, but incredibly enough I'm acquainted with someone who actually played on the same team as Tim Stutzle in Germany this season..

Hes a former cup winning NHLer, I've posted a bit about it before but I'll let you guys comment the dots if your really interested.

But enough of that, finally had a chance to catch up with him at the golf course and ask him about Timmy boy, and he had this to say.

Stutzle is even better than advertised. He said that he looks like Patty Kane v2.0 out there (he won a cup with him so hes qualified to make that comparison). He said hes a sure fire star forward. Sees him as a more of a winger (like Kane or Panarin is what he used for comparables) in the NHL unless he gets stronger though.

He also said the LA/Germany connection is very real, they have the biggest prescence and are the most popular NHL team by far in the DEL/Germany. And he would be shocked (shit his pants were his own words) if LA passed on him at #2.

Also, FWIW, Stutzle didnt sound overly hyped about the thought of coming to play in Canada....not specific towards Ottawa, but seemed to like the idea of playing in a big American city with nice weather (ie I think California is his dream place or something to that effect). And is not a fan of the cold.
Well that sucks

So more smoke on Stutzle to LA. hmmm I'm ok with that.

I'm stoked that we'll get Byfield.

Who would NHLers rather play against: Turcotte + Stutzle or Tkachuck + Byfield?

#55 on a 2D is going to look soo good on Draft Day. Hopefully the recently eight year extended Brady Tkachuk is the first to shake his hand on stage.

Pretty cool you’re acquainted with Ben Smith!

Byfield and Stutzle, you cant go wrong with either, imo.

They both have their risks, and they both have their tremendous upside. I have Stutzle 2nd personally, but if there's an NHL player that can allow Byfield to play his game and make his life easier/take away pressure, it's Brady Tkachuk. I'm happy regardless. We will have the winger talent to give Byfield every chance to succeed (and maybe add 2 of Raymond/Perfetti/Quinn/Mercer/Zary to that list).

Can we just officially start byfield campaigning now ? Sick and tired of the slander. Let’s plant some cells in other boards saying “you know heard from one of his cosches (my uncles buddy) that the kid is just flat out dominant loves getting physical but doesn’t have to hit that gear in O games. Yada yada”.

this plan is classified btw

Well that sucks

Sucks if you want Stutzle I suppose.

I'm 100% sold on Byfield myself, and think everything about him from his personality (he seems excited about the Sens and is okay with small market teams) down to the fact that hes more likely to be a centerman fits our team better.

From what I was told Stutzle is definitely, shall I say, "very confident" and sure of his own abilities. He wants to be a big star and has a big personality, and I hate to say it but it was sort of implied that Ottawa would not be somewhere that he would be thrilled to be going to (I was reading between the lines and my buddy is polite - but dont be surprised if hes about as excited to come here as McDavid was when he got the bad news that he was going to Edmonton).

Having said that I doubt he knows anything about the great young group of players that's being put together here, and would likely get on board with the hype train fairly quickly after seeing more about the city and team.

But having said that, I'm still fairly positive that hes LAs guy, its not a secret over there whatsoever that hes very highly regarded by their organization, and were getting the best center in the draft in Byfield.

I’m comfortable with Byfield cause it also means that it’ll take longer for our team to take off (if Byfield plays junior next year like he should). Hence we should have another top 10-12 pick next year to get a good dman.

Tkachuk-Byfield-Batherson has the potential to be such a dominant 1st line. Big, strong, gritty and so skilled.

Imagine you have Raymond/Perfetti + Norris/L.Brown/Formenton/etc on your 2nd line behind those guys. That depth would be just dirty...

How come?

Exactly how I see it. Tkachuk drags everyone into the fight with him, and his energy is contagious/infectious.

If they end up on a line together I can see them causing chaos together and being very hard to handle.

Thats how I see it as well. I like the idea of Batherson and Formenton playing with him too. I think Formenton will also have that effect, the size and speed this forward group is gonna have is gonna be unreal. Even Norris is 6'2.

You know tkatchuk is going to bring out an absolute monster out of Byfield.

Really hoping Brady becomes the John Kreese of the team.

Assuming both players are equal Byfield is a better fit for what Ottawa needs and Stutzle is a better fit for LA

Think it will turn out that way

Byfield has a Western conference feel to him with all their big centers (Schieflle, Drisatale, Getzlaf, Kopitar, Toewes) - Stuzel has a more Eastern conference feel - I can’t see LA passing on Byfield

Stutzle is from Viersen in the Lower Rhine. Of course he wants a big city with bright lights.
