so true, it is a contract year. He is still young so he might be worth it.

That Seattle defense isn’t what they used to be but neither is this Giants OL. Shane Lemiuex reminds of David Diehl. Did Hernandez get any reps?

Speaking of contracts and likely a lower cap, i think Golden Tate needs to take a pay cut. Engram will likely play out his contract yet his hands can’t be trusted. He makes too many mistakes each week to resign long term IMO. Then what to do with that Barkley 5th year option.
Is there a stat for "balls tipped by receiver for an interception?" I think Engram, no joke, has at least 4 of those this season. It's absurd.

They have one win against a team with a winning record in 2019 and 2020 combined...it happened to be yesterday. Congratulations. It's still a fact that they mostly have not beaten any good teams. And ok, sure, they lost close ames to TB, PHI, DAL (2 of which are bad teams anyway) but they also beat washington, washington, and cincinnati by a combined 6 points but you don't hear anyone saying that against them.

I think the Jets look at Golliday or Godwin. If they draft Lawrence that’s a potentially solid trio for him with Crowder and Mims.

I don't think they look at Godwin. He's mostly a slot receiver. They already have Crowder there. Golladay or Allen Robinson are better fits.

Hmmmm....so let's see which scenario would I choose and be best for the Jets going forward.

1. Greg Williams putting the defense in prevent defense mode and Jets winning yesterday 28-24 putting them 2nd overall in Trevor Lawrence chase as Jags would have tie-breaker with one win each with 4 to go.

2. Greg Williams call all out blitz leaving corners naked and Jets losing yesterday 31-28 keeping them 1st overall in the Trevor Lawrence chase over the Jags who also lost with the Seahawks, Rams, Browns and Patriots on deck!.

Ummm...give me scenario #2 all day and all night and yet peeps in the media and even some in Jet Nation are "up in arms" this morning and want Williams fired for his bold defensive call which by the way likely would have worked had the Raider O-line and Carr not handled the blitz package surprisingly so well.

So relax my Jet brothers....things couldn't have worked out better. Jets played an exciting game for a change of pace. Darnold showed glimses again despite some mistakes. The RB's Johnson and Adams showed some nice things. Becton after a tough start dominated in 2nd half. Quinnen, Mims and Davis all had some nice moments. I mean what is there to complain about?

I commend Williams for not sitting back and even tho it backfired,"oopsie daisy"(haven't used that term in decades I don't think...lol), the Jets now are in commanding position to win the Lawrence sweepstakes as their remaining schedule is daunting indeed.

My revised "scare rankings" would be in order:

Cleveland(Baker can implode at any given time and that franchise is still cursed despite their great season thus far)
Patriots(I've gone over infinitum that Belichek hatred of Jets factor but Pats winning and staying in playoff hunt lessons my worry significantly)
Rams and Seahawks I'm not worried whatsoever.

Yeah it was the "same old Jets". But the positive is yeah tho the Jets should have won I'm also 1000% convinced of this but had we won, we could have kissed Trevor Lawrence goodbye.

The Jags would be almost certainly getting Lawrence because despite how competitive they've been, with a remaining schedule of the Titans, Ravens, Bears and Colts, they aint winning another game this season either. Yeah the Bears game worries me a tad but the Bears should be able to take care of business.

So let's take a collective deep breath as we dodged a bullet yesterday and so instead of castigating Greg Williams, we should be applauding him his reckless ways....lol.

I'm firmly in the Allen Robinson camp as well. He's be perfect compliment to Mims and Crowder. A big target who can get separation and catches everything thrown even in the vicinity of him. I'd take Golladay as a very nice booby prize a but give me Robinson first and foremost.

Haven’t seen Mike Francesa in a while trying to tell me the Jets aren’t tanking

Yesterday was as blatant as it gets lol

he kills them. Tipped into the defenders hands is worse than the many drops. Then you can’t trust he won’t fumble the football if he catches it. He’s too mistake prone and changes momentum in the opponents favor.

I wouldn’t trust Leonard Williams to give him the money he’d want long term. I’m a Jet fan, so I’m not up on the Giants salary cap situation but I’d consider the franchise tag depending on their cap space and his potential number. Let him play a another contract year then deal him if the money works.

Id be a bit surprised if Tate was back at all. I think they’ll go in another direction. I don’t think Gettleman invests in a legit 1 on big money though as much as the fans might be into it.

i don’t trust him either. I didn’t trust JPP yet he appears to have turned his motor back on. Tough to trust any of these guys IMO. I do think the risk for injury is less for a Williams than a Barkley or a WR so not sure what the Giants will do. The roster is still very weak yet they are playing very smart. Judge is teaching really well which means he might become one of the few from the Belichick tree to actually become a Coach.

The ownership is still allowing him and Gase to cash paychecks lol

Should tell you everything you need to know. They’re still there to make sure they lose

So the coaching staff, who won't be here next year, is intentionally trying to lose which will hurt their attempts to get future jobs? They also get paid regardless of whether or not they get fired.

I forgot Allen Robinson was a free agent. He’d be the ideal fit for the Jets, but I’m not sure he’d have any interest in coming here after he requested a trade from the debacle that is Chicago absent serious overpayment.

I dunno about that my friend. Hypothetically speaking...Douglass brings in Joe Brady as HC. They draft Trevor Lawrence and Douglass via the draft and UFA fortifies the O-line built around Mt. Becton, you don't think ARob looks at the Jets who will have oodles of cash and says "hmmm....maybe going to NY and to the Jets isn't such a bad gig afterall"....just sayin!...

I could then see them use either their second first rounder or early second on more OL help... the other pick most likely a CB, put possibly a pash rusher.

I’m not saying they’ll compete for a playoff spot, but they could be decent if Douglass makes the right moves and hires a legit HC. They have the draft capital and salary cap space to make serious improvements.

I like Golladay and Godwin a lot. Golladay having a hip injury all season is a bit of an issue, but he's that talented to be a legit #1. I think the Bucs will probably look to franchise Godwin to keep that group together for another season while they have Brady, but he would be a good add.

JuJu is the other guy I would look to add. I think he is more than a slot receiver, but that is the spot Pittsburgh needs to use him in. This free agent WR class is strong and they will have options to add other guys as well.

Engram is a matchup nightmare, but between all the drops, fumbles, and tips, I don't know what the hell you do with him. He's going to make $6M next year, assuming he's not cut (which there's no need to at that cap hit, IMO). That's not even Top-10 money at the position.

Just feels kind of similar to the Kreider situation. Physical specimen with insane upside, but unable to truly put it all together. Do you trade him in the final year of his deal? Let him walk and watch him fulfill his potential with another team?

Who knows. With the average shelf life of non-QB NFL players, it's easier to move on from them. But, I'd feel a whole lot better if we had a #1WR. Engram is the only real mismatch we have in the passing game. As much as I like Slayton and Shep, they're complimentary players that get shut down when they're focused on.

The funny thing is if you look at the comments when he did the exact same thing in the Browns/Broncos game they were all about how great the play call was. Because it worked. This time it didn't work so it's the worst playcall ever. Can we please by consistent? If it was good then it was good now and if it was bad then it was bad now.

If they pay him oodles of cash? Maybe. Do I think Allen Robinson looks at the Jets organization which has been a debacle for years and coming off an 0-16 season, with an infamously poor ownership, after Chicago/Jax and going onto his 3rd rookie QB as a great opportunity? I’d be shocked.

I actually think Juju is overrated and very likely to be overpaid. I see him as a solid 2 but I could see him paid like a legit 1WR.

I mean the game situations were totally different though. The Broncos were down 1 at midfield with 40 seconds left, you shouldn't be in prevent defense there.

I missed the Denver game so idk if the situation was identical but a cover-0 in a Hail Mary situation with 5 seconds left is just stupid any way you slice it. Honestly, do you ever recall seeing that? They should’ve had 3 or 4 guys lined up deep and I’m saying that as a guy who likes aggressive defense. That’s not even mentioning that the Jets might have the worst CB group in football.

Even if the ball isn’t caught, you put your DB in a terrible position to be forced into a PI which gives the offense an extra play in close.

Newsday is reporting the Jets just fired Greg Williams. I guess one of the most important play calls in Jet history was a bit to much for the Johnson's so cya Greg....lol

And my friends ask me all the time how do I continue after all these years to remain loyal to this team.

Now I have another reason to show them why I love this team so much as it's decisions like this to can Williams who after one "egregious" decision, he gets fired while Gase, who has made oh I dunno a hundred fireable decisions keeps his job.

Lets Go Jets!. On to Seattle...:thumbu:
