Sewell would be super underwhelming and disappointing to the casuals who want the QB hype but I would love thy pick at 2. Having two beastly OT’s for the next 10 years will make the life easier for whomever the next QB is.

I agree with the strategy, but always find it bizarre when guys (not you specifically) plug anyone into NFL spots for 10 years or even 3 years. With major injuries so prevelent, it's hard to keep the same lineup together for 2 weeks. Not to mention the amount of high picks that bust. Didn't mean to single you out, it's just something I always think is odd to predict for so long. I digress...

You’re right, and usually hate when people do that and overhype prospects but you have to try and ignore the injury spectre and I’m looking it at like D’Brick and Mangold. They were the foundation of the Jets during their most successful period and I would love to recreate that.

Those two guys are clearly the model & what a GM dreams about when drafting, but it's so rare that it actually works out that way. The Jets were so spoiled to have them play so well for a decade.

Even the decade before that, with Jason Fabini and Kevin Mawae. That's what I like so much about our new GM. He gets it. The offense will only go as far as the offensive line will take them. A great OL will make mediocre QBs, WRs, RBs all look better. I hope they can upgrade at Center this offseason as well. I know they just signed McGovern, but he can easily slide right over to one of the guard spots.

I don’t see the value in another T at 2nd overall. If you’re picking a QB keep it. If not, you’re going with Darnold, Trade down.

I don’t see any scenario where getting a vet QB works. Stafford, Wentz, Rivers, etc don’t make sense.

9 year anniversary of this. Jets fans cover your eyes.

Thx Snow for bringing up this stinken play....just a great way to start my Xmas Eve!!

This by the way, "the Victor Cruz" game is what most of my Jet fan buddies call it, was the beginning of the end of those really good Rex led Jet teams we had. Pretty much from that moment on, the Jets went downhill from there. And other than that flukish 2015 season we had, the Jets haven't been the same since.

You know how you got "Bucky f'n Dent"...Aaron "f'n Boone". Well in Jet land we have "Victor f'n Cruz" as I blame him for all of the pain and suffering we in Jet Nation have suffered since. Hope that makes you feel better Snow....hah

Well, I feel like shit about the Giants and even worse about my personal life (as HF knows) so yes that does make me feel better, thanks.

I’m not picking a guy at 2 that would need to change positions on the Jets.

The move for Douglass is what I said yesterday...pretty damn simple. Get the Bengals, Chargers and whoever else is chomping at the bit for Sewell and get them in a bidding war to change places with the Jets. I'd much rather the Jets get some extra 2nd round picks this year maybe a first next and/or the year after and take one of those stud WR's like Chase at #5 or so.

And to go one step further, seeing Douglass is pretty adept at doing this, after he exchanges picks with the team that loves Sewell, he than finds the team that is love with one of QB's...Wilson and Fields and he trades down again.

I wouldn't want to go past the 10 slot but if Douglass could turn the 2nd overall into 3 more picks maybe this year and 2 more or so the following year, that would be friggen awesome and the genius move to do. That's my plan...Joe D...I know your reading...:)

I’m fine trading to 3 with the Bengals, but I’m not leaving the draft without Fields or Wilson, whichever the new coach likes better.

I'm not saying you're wrong but is there any example at all in the last like twenty years of a team trading a haul to move up top a top 5 picks to get an offensive lineman? I tend to doubt it. That's a QB type trade.

Dak isn't overrated. He's a top QB. I'd say he's underrated because people wrongly attribute his success to Zeke and the o-line. Even this year the Cowboys offense was good when he played.

It’s debatable... to me, he’s upper middle-middle of the pack around 10-15 or so. He’s a very large step down from the Mahomes and Wilson’s of the league to me anyway. I’m not saying he’s not a quality QB, but he was looking for some crazy money. He wasn’t successful bc of the line and Zeke but they were obviously big factors that not every QB has.

That's a good question. Off top of my head, I can't think of an O lineman commanding such a return that I was talking about. Thing is, there's always a first time. This guy is supposedly the best lineman since Quentin Nelson to come out of college and he's a LT which makes him even more valuable.

Maybe the Bengals or Chargers could be desperate enough to move up to the Jets spot. Douglass needs to at very least try and fake those teams out and make them bid against each other if possible. The vibe I get from Douglass is he's either taking Sewell or he's trading down a time or two...we'll see.

Bottom line is I trust Douglass which is something I haven't been able to say about any Jet GM I can think of since maybe Parcells over 20 years ago.

I'd be really really surprised if the Jets take any of the QB's at #2. I'm not saying it's impossible or your wrong. I'd just be surprised as I just don't see any of the QB's worth a #2 overall pick.

Douglass gives me the vibe that he's all about building the O-line and so if he doesn't take Sewell, I really believe he's trading down.

Jags ain’t winning shit. Them winning at this point would be an even bigger shock than the Jets beating the Rams

Yeah unfortunately for us there is no way in hell Jags are even showing up let alone winning. And it's not like the Bears aren't vulnerable either...last I checked they have some guy Trubisky still behind center and I don't give a shit how good he's played the past 3 games...he can implode at any time.

Jags are in tank mode tho and tho maybe they make it somewhat of a game for a half, this game will not be in doubt come the 4th quarter. Jets are F'd...simple as that.

It's either Sewell or trade down!

You still need two to dance. You can move the pick for a Kong’s ransom but no guarantee a strong offer is there. Hopefully someone pines after Sewell or another QB like Fields or Wilson.

We keep talking about Sewell but no guarantee a team doesn’t want to move up for a Fields or Wilson either. It wouldn’t be the first time a QB’s stock was driven up prior to the draft.

I find it funny when people say he's the best lineman since Nelson like Nelson was drafted in 80s. It was 2018, not that long ago.

This is exactly how I'm thinking as well, but what team is going to be searching for a QB that has a higher pick? Is Atlanta or Carolina going to jump from their spot to take a QB while having Ryan and Bridgewater on contracts with a lot of guaranteed money?

San Francisco losing out is an ideal situation. They don't have their QB on their team currently. Garapolo isn't the future there. He is injury prone and above average at best. If they are looking to get a top QB, they could be aggressive, but I wouldn't want to move out of the top 10 this year.

The idea is that Sewell will be coveted by teams that have a higher pick than most that would be interested in moving up for a QB. That is the leverage that is needed, especially since the Bengals are 100% taking him if he is there at 3.
