BTW that's why you can't comment on games until the game is over. Jones looking like an elite QB on the last few plays of the final drive makes previous posts in this thread look very shortsighted. Although his bad throw at the end saved them from being totally wrong I guess.

I don't know about him missing deep passes to wide open players, but the INTs are totally on him playing like a rookie. Is that something that he will never grow out of or is a matter of playing under two different coaches in his first two seasons, or something else that is fixable? What the Washingtons are doing with Haskins is the exact opposite of what the Giants should be doing with Jones.

BTW, the Jets and Giants have similar talent. Anyone that still thinks Judge hasn't proven to be better than Gase is an idiot.

Juries out on Judge but we know Gase sucks. As far as talent level, not even the Giants are as poor as the Jets. 0-16 ain’t easy but this Jet team has it in them. I could see the Giants getting to 3 or 4 wins.

Well, Jury's out on Judge but he's clearly superior to Gase. I wonder if that guy will ever get a HC job in the NFL again.

The Jets played at Shea Stadium (Mets) and the Giants played at Yankee Stadium, so there are affiliations there. Mets/Jets fans tend to be based in Queens (where Shea was) and the surrounding areas of Brooklyn and Long Island. Yankees/Giants fans tend to be based in the Bronx (where Yankee Stadium is) and the surrounding areas of Manhattan and the suburbs north of the city.

@LT Dan @Crease don't forget a lot has to do with family too. I know a lot of Giants/National League Baseball (Brooklyn Dodgers/Mets)/Rangers/Knicks fans and some Yankees/Jets fans.

Another factor is the era you grew up in. If your family doesn't care and your friends are deciding, if its 1970 you're going to gravitate towards Joe Namath. If it's 1990 towards LT.

The difference is Jets fans hated Gase the second the hiring announcement was made and he lost the team during "The Eyes" press conference. We've had some crappy coaches in this town from Kotite to Handley but I have never see a coach lose a team and a fanbse so quickly.

Judge at least has his players respect and he's disciplined his team. He just had a bunch of doofuses who can't play fundamental football. Gase feuds with his players and coaches through the media.

Huge difference.

The 2 point play was literally planned to go to Lewis and you wait that long to throw? Jones is the reason why we’re not at least a .500 team. He is literally anti-clutch. So many chances to win games and he just can’t do it. He’s the anti-Manning lol.

I guess that’s fair just based on the fact Gase has to be the worst in the NFL. You never hear his players back him up either. I don’t have a great read on Judge yet, but based on the fact the Giants are the second to worst team as opposed to the worst team? Not much for bragging rights there.

I can’t see Gase getting a 3rd HC spot. In the end the Miami and Jets jobs will both have ended poorly. Too much smoke with his nonsense. I’m not even sure that he’d get an OC job but stranger things have happened. I could see him signing on someplace as a QB coach. I don’t see college being a great fit for him either with his lacking leadership skills. TV is probably out too with such an awkward demeanor.

I mean when you're looking at two good teams, one's blowing out their opponents and one's winning close games every week, you probably think the team that blows out its opponents is much more dominant. You can't just look at the win loss record of a team that doesn't have the horses. I feel like people need to prove how much into winning they are when they say "who cares they're losing!" No, he's not Vince Lombardi this year but when you're making a judgment on the guy and you see his team is in games they have no business being in you have to give him points for keeping it close. Judge has coached well enough to win every game but the Steelers and Niners game. The Steelers game they were just outmanned and the Niners game he laid an egg. He can only do so much standing on the sidelines.

I will say, this is one of the least talented rosters of my lifetime but I still look forward to the games because I know they'll have an honest effort and will mostly play fundamentally sound. If that's not a credit to this coaching staff I don't know what is.

Judge is 100% a better coach by just not being Gase, but let's not even think they have similar talent. The skill positions are insanely tilted to the Giants. Shepard, Slayton, and Tate are all NFL wide receivers and I'd say that are either solid #2s on most teams or very good #3s on a contending team. Crowder is a great slot guy, but Mims is a rookie and Perriman is a bust 1st rounder that had 4 good games with the Bucs last season. I don't see a either Smith or Berrios getting on the field for the Giants. Even Engram is better than Herndon, as much as Engram has sucked. The Jets still run Frank Gore, so whoever is a RB for the Giants is a better player.

On the flip side, Bradbury and Logan Ryan are light years ahead of Austin and Desir. Poole is a good player as a slot and is one of the better ones in the league. Maye and Peppers are pretty damn close IMO. Martinez is the best LB of the group, even before the Jets moved Williamson (who has gotten torched in pass coverage this season).

It's not really close, the Giants definitely have better players at the skill positions.

The Jets look closer to an AAF or XFL football team than a NFL team.

Let's name a few players that would be starters on another .500 or better team.

Maye
Poole
Crowder
Becton
Mann
Quinnen

Mims hasn't had enough snaps and targets to judge yet. Sam has potential but he could be irreparably damaged developmentally by Gase's lack of coaching and system. Then the talent level falls off between fringe backups or glorified special teams level players thrust into starting positions and both woefully unprepared and skill-wise unable to compete at the NFL level. Add in the fact that the coach isn't a motivator and their really isn't any motivation to play well besides as an individual playing for a future contract you get a team that quite literally is going through the motions hoping that the coach is fired and some talent is brought in before their own personal play doesn't affect their next pay day.

I don't know, it's been almost 50 years since the Giants moved to NJ and nearly 40 years for the Jets. Not only that there is a lot of mobility in and out of the city so I don't think those old ties exist as much as they used to. I'm a ranger fan and my brother is an islander fan. My cousin is a jets fan and his brother (also my cousin) is a giants fan. I also know plenty of rangers/Nets fans. In the olden times you only got a chance to watch other teams in the all star games or the playoffs. Now you can watch any team you want when you want. It's probably true that family members tend to support the same teams but it's not absolute and I don't think it holds as much as it used to but that's just my opinion.

Jets point differential: -144
Gians point different: -54

There is no comparison. Giants are at least somewhat competitive and having somewhat of a chance to win some of their games. The Jets are getting BTFO week in week out.

And the Giants laid a giant egg against the Niners. Presumably the one time their opponent felt more desperate than them. About half of that differential comes from that game. Then there was the Steelers game against the only unbeaten team in the league game 1, where they lost by 10. Everything else was a one possession game. The team just has losing players and a culture of losing and can't make key plays.

My dad grew up a fan of the Dodgers, Rangers, and Giants. He then became a fan of the Jets, Mets, and Islanders. Never cared about basketball.

I deviated by rooting for the Rangers. He still rooted for the Rangers as a "backup" team and I got into them that way, especially since they won a cup when I was still fairly young.

If the fact that the NYG could potentially be looking at a QB or LT with their first pick doesn't showcase how much Gettleman set this franchise back, I don't know what will.

He cannot make the next draft pick for this franchise. I hate to be dramatic but if they keep him around I may need a break from investing in this franchise, it's that bad.

I was born in the 80s so everything I listed is relevant to my era and one generation after.

There will always be exceptions but I believe what I listed to be true and relevant up until the "FaceTime Era" and especially now in the WFH Era when people started realizing what a s%^t show the NY Lifestyle is and you can work and watch your teams anywhere.

The Jets and Giants were both playing in NJ by the time you started watching football I assume. I'm not sure what WFH has to do with watching football but Sunday ticket has been around for 25 years so I'm probably missing your point.
