2020 Draft & Undrafted Free Agent Thread: Part II

Good. Kid is big and majorly talented offensively. He's supposed to have off-ice issues, idk, idc.

Plus, he's very high on Steve's list, which is always a good thing.

Anybody have Pytlik late first early 2nd? Or is that too high for him? Really a guy I'm eyeing throughout the season, as a middle-6 C down the line.

Also his ”attitude issues” in U18/U20 were very blown out of proportions, he was a teenager who was crushing every level, it was easy for him so he didn’t give 100% every shift, not exactly uncommon in that age.

Asked more then 5 people working in and around Swedish hockey about this.

Two UDFA's off the board early (both from Everett). I remember liking Christiansen in his draft year, not sure how he went undrafted multiple times.

If you check out the Trade forum and look at 2020 Prospect Thread, @caley does a great job on this and has a list of prospects that could sign ELC's.

Always nice to see some Puget sound area players sign ELCs. Eansor, and Leedahl a few years ago signing with the Isles/Rangers, True with the Sharks, Ottenbreit with the Wild.

Sucks we never signed Jerret Smith :laugh:

As per elite prospects, Joel Blomqvist signed a 2 year extension with Karpat. Seems like he's got a tough bet to be their starter with Justus Annunen and Patrick Rybar in the midst. Both are killing it and could get signed by NHL clubs. I think it'll end up Rybar starting with Blomqvist backing up. Annunen gets signed by Colorado and starts the climb.

Just looking at Colorado's goalie situation, but it seems they're going to have a logjam soon....

I think there’s some misconception about the perceived concerns related to Gunler.

I think a lot of people have assumed there are some off ice issues that has teams attention. That’s not the case.

Where you do hear some concerns is his ability to translate his game as the competition gets harder, whether he is open and receptive to advice, and his willingness to put in all the necessary work.

He is seen as having big time upside though. I’m not sure how many people in the top 10 he’s going to push out of those slots. But it only takes one team and I think he’s as good of a candidate as anyone to be that guy. Right now, I think his most likely landing spot is the 11-15 slot range

I feel like he is not the type of player that Gorton and Quinn seem to be targeting. But I could be wrong. And sure, at some point every single prospect becomes a value pick.

I will say that I haven't heard his name come up as a top target to this point.

Names outside the tippy top guys that have definitely come up, multiple times, include:

Zary
Holloway
Lundell
Sanderson
Mysak
Smilanic
Cuylle

Holloway, Lundell, Sanderson, Mysak.....all would make me very happy.
