It'll be interesting to see the camp invites, the undrafted players in particular. I hope that Mercer is there among those that are very borderline. Hopefully it helps that he's 18.

Him being 18 certainly won't hurt his case. I'm looking forward to this afternoon's reveal. Some names that I'm really hoping make the list

you mean 18 and undrafted. due to late b-day?

as oppose to undrafted players. i.e 17 year olds.

hyped for the big Sport Chek corporate reveal.

and the more Newfoundlanders on the team the better. Make it a kitchen party in the Czech Rep.

Yes, one of the most annoying things regarding WJC coverage is when they talk about a player being draft eligible as a negative even though the player is 18 and is in his third year of junior.

I think it's been 10 years since there's been a Newfoundlander on the team, and without doing a lot of research I don't think that there has ever been two. It's becoming pretty common for Atlantic players to make team Canada, which is good.

Well, I remember fondly the days when Newfoundlanders scored the gold medal clinching goals in consecutive years. That goes back in the archives a bit. It would be nice for history to repeat itself. this year and next.

Slaney and who? It was only 1 year as far as I'm aware

Pretty sure Luke Adam is the last one to make the team from Newfoundland. Had a really good tournament but yeah itll be ten years now. Newhook will change that either this year or for sure next year. I think hes going to make it this year though

Watching McIsaac's first game a few days ago, I think he did great and think he's very healthy. Detroit/Halifax were very patient with his shoulder surgery but I just don't think he's physically ready for a tournament like the World Juniors unfortunately. He had a few minor sloppy moments but helped the rebuilding Mooseheads to a 3-0 win. We'll just have to see he could very well just being cautious he was scratched from Sundays matchup so he could "rest". But the defense depth in this years tournament should be realllly good, especially if Dobson is loaned over from the Islanders.

Hope to see Pelletier make it.
As a Flames fan I do to.

I see it as a testament to how strong Canada's forwards are this year that he's on the bubble. Dude's averaging 1.85 points per game, is a team captain, and penalty kills and If he makes the team it will be in a bottom 6 role.

Kind of surprised no invite for Chisholm. His two way game fits this tourney great. One of many head scratchers, but I guess we have to trust the Hunter's

The biggest omissions in my mind are Poulin, Tomasino, Tracey, Rees, Korczak, and Merkley. I would have at least wanted to see him at camp, as he seems to be playing very well for London this year. Damn.

Alright, here’s my current lineup comprised only of the players at camp:

Lafreniere-McMichael-Thomas
Krebs-Cozens-Mercer
Pelletier-Byfield-Lavoie
Foudy-Newhook-Dellandrea
Groulx

Byram-JBD
Smith-Harley
McIsaac-Drysdale
Bahl

Rodrigue
Jones/Hofer

Here’s my lineup with the expected additions of Veleno and Dobson:

Lafreniere-McMichael-Thomas
Krebs-Byfield-Cozens
Pelletier-Veleno-Lavoie
Foudy-Newhook-Dellandrea
Groulx

Smith-Dobson
Byram-JBD
McIsaac-Harley
Bahl

Rodrigue
Jones/Hofer

And here’s my ideal lineup with Hayton and Dach also released:

Lafreniere-McMichael-Dach
Hayton-Veleno-Thomas
Krebs-Byfield-Cozens
Foudy-Newhook-Dellandrea
Pelletier

Smith-Dobson
Byram-JBD
McIsaac-Harley
Bahl

Rodrigue
Jones/Hofer

Wowzers I saw a lot of people who had Jett Woo playing on the 3rd D pairing as well. Samuel Poulin and Jameson Rees are shockers to not at least get an invite. Merkley doesn’t surprise me a whole lot. I thought Alexis Gravel deserved that spot over Nico Daws as well despite his awful start to the season. He’s been playing great these past 1 and a half months. I also thought Carson Focht played amazing in the Summer Series not sure how he’s doing now but yeah a few disappointments but still quite excited for some players like Dawson Mercer and Cole Perfetti. Gonna be a great run, hope Veleno, Hayton, and Dobson are loaned though. Don’t think our team is gonna be the best one in the tournament so far without them.

Newhook might be starting to play his way onto the team. 11 points in his last 7 games. Second among all NCAA freshman in goals. He's already known for his defensive play. Plays all situations including PK. He may get a look as a depth role player.

and that kid can really skate if we wanna emphasize that more this year
