I don't blame Landeskog, no.

Kadri is a good point. It would be nice to swap him for a different 2C. Him always being one borderline hit away from missing a whole series plus, is very concerning.

Gru stole us game 2 and any other goalie not named Vasilevskiy would have similar performances against all those turnovers.

Sakic also did fail us this last trade deadline hard. I called him out earlier.

Yes that was a bad play from Gru. Should a post the game 2 highlights as a counter point?

It was accumulation of many things that f***ed us vs Vegas, but almost all of them start via bad turn overs. It wouldn't surprise me if at one point before that goal went in Graves had a chance to clear and failed.

Gru is by far out best option this off season.

Pretty arbitrary with the captain, Landeskog and harsh with Burakovsky considering he was stapled to Compher. Neither was great.

If it wasn't for the one turnover from Landeskog, no one would even mention him. On that play I still say the mistake lands on Graves's head. If he does what any other defenseman in the league would have done on that play, we keep possession and have zone time. Instead of stopping at the blue line however, he joins the rush even though we already had a player entering from that side. So the puck goes behind him off the wall and becomes a 2 on 1 for Vegas.

Bura did nothing all playoffs long. He had 4 points in 10 games and plays a weak defensive game. I would much rather have Saad over Bura 10 times out if 10.

I'll say it again...The problem with a Jones/G trade is that CBJ already have Werenski and Gravikov on the left side. Unless they are willing to play one those three on the right side there will need to be another team involved or the Avs will have to give them other assets. Timmins could be involved as he is RHD and we would have Makar, Jones and EJ on the right side. After trading Jones CBJ would be very thin on the right side. They will need a #2RD.

Columbus could make a big offer to Dougie Hamilton and solve the issue in free agency

If Jones isn't interested in being in Colorado over other teams, I don't see such a huge need for him. Trade Girard for a 2C, re-sign Landy, and find a goalie. Put Kadri at 3C or the wing.

Jones isn’t declining at 26… He’s on a terrible hockey team, and he’s obviously disgruntled. These types of guys are almost always worth the risk. People were writing Alec Martinez off before VGK traded for him, now look.

As for the off-season, I don’t expect much change. Kadri will he used to bridge Newhook into the 2C role, and if Newhook is successful then Kadri walks.

SEA takes Graves, Trade Compher for a 4th/5th. That gives you significant cap relief.

So yet again for for 3rd year in a row we are banking on EJ to stay healthy and play top 4 minutes? It won't happen.

I fully expect the following to be gone:

Kadri
EJ
Donskoi or Compher

And possibly Graves and Girard. Girard can be used to find a 2C and we have Byram ready to replace him.

You can see Grubi didn't know where the puck was. He thought Smith cycled the puck back down low to Tuch.

He turns his head to look to the corner after Smith passes it to Holden, and then he has no idea where the puck is. He keeps looking back at Tuch as he comes towards the net and isn't even looking at Holden until the puck is about six inches away from his five hole.

Just a lack of focus at the worst time.

What do you think about a trade with Ottawa

Formenton+ Paul+ 2nd for Kadri and Graves

What is yours proposition with Ottawa and Kadri as central piece ?

That isn't nearly enough for those two.

Connor Brown, Chris Tierney, Alex Formenton and a 2nd for Kadri and Graves

In vaccum we could possibly get more value as TDL trades, but as cap dumps before the season it’s not bad I guess.

Obviously that trade would be contingent on getting a replacement 2C from another trade/UFA.

I still want Danault. Graves to Seattle. Trade Compher or Donskoi. Danault suddenly becomes affordable. Keep Kadri. Need insurance.
Danault is what we need, great face off guys and defensive player like Stone only with out that stupid look on his face. Come to think of it I dislike the whole Vegas team except Lehner

I think it's better keep money for signing à good 2c like RNH or Granlund or Danault

I'm currently laughing at the thought of Nick Paul trying to play on our team when he's one of the slowest prodding skaters in the league.

Unless Seth Jones is signing for the deal of the century, trading Sam Girard for him makes no sense. Girard is the 49th highest paid defenseman in the NHL, with 6-years left on his deal. It's the MacKinnon-lite contract in terms of value.

My thinking is that if Colorado trades for Jones in a sign-and-trade, it means Landeskog has walked via UFA and the Avalanche are shaking up the roster construction. Jones is brought in and signed, Landeskog is replaced with a more economical top-6 option.

Saw an article by Bruce Garrioch in the Ottawa Sun saying that the Sens would have interest in Kadri if he became available. The article also says that a league executive was quotes saying that "I wouldn’t be shocked if Colorado traded Kadri, I’m not saying that Joe is shopping Kadri.'

If the Avs do end up trading Kadri I'd like to assume it's because Sakic has a legit 2C coming in. So that would be ideal to me, their biggest need IMO.

Even if we get a legit 2C we still need an upgrade at 3C. C depth as a whole is still severely lacking.

He's already got just the man for the job

So Girard fans think their boy is basically as good as Mackinnon and that's why 5 mil is such a steal even though it's 1 more mil than Toews.

God I hate how accurate this is. Like for real...

FTR--I don't hate Jost as a player, but he just has limitations, I think it's painfully evident. For all the talk that he was a "great 3C" for us this year, I don't really believe that to be the case. I believe he was an adequate 3C, but at times still outmatched. I think Nuke and whoever else was playing on that line (Saad, Donskoi, etc) is what drove that line.

Girard's contract can't help him clear the front of the net.

Has there ever been a Stanley Cup champion with such a small dude logging 20+ minutes?

Sakic is trying to do what hasn't been done before (as far as i can tell).
