I was really hoping Dallas would be a seller and move out Oleksiak, he was one of the guys I wanted. Big guy, skates good for a big guy, and seems to do well paired with a puck mover.

Wish he was a righty though, we are already so LD heavy.

I’d be interested in an Oleksiak-Timmins 3rd pairing.

3C could be Stastny. I think he can still fill this role. And if he signs a cheap and short contract - problem solved.
Save the money for a real 2C. Benefits the AVS and Mack.

I’d love nothing more than to dust off my old #26 jersey. But I’m not sure how much he has left in the tank. He still had good underlying numbers on one of the worst defensive teams in hockey so, if they could make it work, why not?

This is most assuredly his last contract so if he does retire it’ll be an LTIR thing, no way is he leaving that money on the table.

Byram - Girard

is they are all small puck moving defenseman. There's no variety. None of them are built for playing the PK or shutting down the other teams big forwards. I'm not sure how you fix it. You don't trade your Norris candidate in Makar, you don't trade Toews who you just acquired, Byram has 1-2 years to go before being a reliable and healthy top4 dman, Girard's contract is too sweet to trade away.

There's no way you can go into next season with 4 small and/or young defenseman again, this back end absolutely needs a defensive defenseman that isn't a Nemeth/Cole/Johnson.

I'd also be completely fine not seeing Bura return after his soft as shit performance for the entirety of the playoffs excluding 1 game.

Girard is on a great contract at $5M/yr. Does Jones approach almost double that on the open market? $8.5M/yr is probably the minimum for him.

Questions? Toews had a solid year and yet the Islanders are doing great without him. Byram looked fine during his 19 games played but can any NHL team depend on a 20 year old to round out your top 4? " they say " it takes defensemen longer to develop, whoever " they is ".

I’m a big fan of girard but we have lots of that style. Jones is ten times better defensively and built for the playoffs. We don’t need toews girard and byram. 4 playoffs in a row Girard is manhandled in his own end.

jones doesn’t command 10 mil anywhere... you see if he wants to play in Denver where he has emotional ties. 8 mil I would do, girard makes 5 and you buy out Johnson to save 4 and give it to Jones or give the money from the expansion pick.
If anyone just watched that Vegas series and is being honest with themselves then they’ll know we need to be built differently in the back. We wilted at the first sign of a hard forecheck and coughed up pucks that we had possession of multiple times.
