We need to sit down with Anaheim.

Here’s what we do.

1. Gibson, it’s time to win a Cup. Pack your shit.

2. Manson, you’re not a p***y. Get the f*** over here.

3. Deslauriers, 6’3” 220. Bring the beef to the 4th line you ugly bastard.

If we could pry Gibson out of Anaheim...

I don't know what we do with Gruby, but my way too early take on our lineup to start next season is:

Landeskog - MacKinnon - Rantanen
Saad - Kadri - Burakovsky
Nichushkin - C - RW
Newhook - Jost - O'Connor
Ranta

Toews - Makar
Girard - RD
Byram - Timmins
MacDonald

The C needs to be someone who can play 2C. Stastny would probably be my choice if he doesn't retire (unless Danault is for some reason available, affordable, and interested). Bozak and Bonino are other possibilities.
The RW needs to be someone we can afford. Maybe this is just Donskoi, but I doubt we can still afford that cap hit next season.
The RD needs to be a big, reliable penalty-killer.

I have no idea how we get rid of all of Graves, Donskoi and Compher, but if we want to improve while still keeping guys like Landskog and Saad, we'll need to clear their cap hits.

2 years. Sakic has to go all in this offseason and next. Getting a 2C and possibly a new starting goalie is no small task but it might be the needed change in the lockerroom to get over the hump.

Gibson would be the big fish at the top of my list. I'm done with Grubauer, he will never lead us to a cup.

Just going to beat a dead horse, this team was build with speed and skill in mind but for the last three years this formula isn’t working in the playoffs. Looks at Chicago this was their formula but they bottom six and back end had physicality and grit too (you know a guy by the name of Byfuglien).

This team need to mix in physicality, grit, and size just like TBL did or it will just be the same old story.

Roy wanted size and toughness and Sakic wanted speed and skill. Just mix all those together now and have a perfect team...isn’t rocket science...

Why people want Stastny back? What's with the fetish after so long? He was Casper the ghost anyway and he is like 80 years old in NHL player age.

Forget about him

Based on his play in Winnipeg, I think he'd be a good add. He was their #2 center despite the fact that they had Dubois and every reason to give him a go at center. I think he'd be a great fit as our #3 on a one year "let's go win the cup" contract.

We need speed, grit and size.

He is none of that. Jets lost Vs freaking Habs 4-0.

We can't be softies in the future. We need more size, players who are not afraid to fight for the puck and crash the net. We need more dirty goals.

Gru isn’t worth the money he’s going to demand. He saved us one game and sh*t the bed when the pressure get turn up to maximum.

There need to be at least two changes in the 3rd pairing this off season, if EJ is back and healthy 1. 3 to 4 players in the bottom six (hopefully for size and grit). If Kadri + Bura + G can be move for a top 6 and top 4 D in a CBJ trade...

Burakovsky isn’t going anywhere. He’s a notorious playoff performer. I realize he wasn’t this year but it’s the first time for him to go this way and realize the centre options he got to play with were Jost and Compher. This isn’t a Sam Girard situation where he becomes terrible every year in the playoffs. It’s a one off. If you start trading away players who let you down for the first time you’re going to have to turnover the entire team.

I like Jost as a 3C but only if your 2C is a high end play driver who can score. You need more than one C who can generate offense. If we have a great 2C you can gladly roll Jost as a defensive, energy 3C but if the 2C position is weak I think you need more of a baller as your 3C.

Girard sucked again. That’s 4 years in a row. But he’s still on one of the best contracts in hockey. I wouldn’t trade him just for the sake of trading him but I’m all about it if it’s a trade that absolutely makes them better. I know he’s older but LA are looking for a LHD just like Girard and Anze Kopitar would be everything we need. His contract is a killer though. But if we could get 2-3M retained or send back some more salary along with Girard I would be ok with something like that.

Graves hopefully goes in expansion

Nemeth won’t be back

Grubauer I don’t know. I might be going to fantasy land here but would you guys not offer something substantial like Girard +++ for Jones + Merzlikins?

Those are the question marks. The C position after Mackinnon, the goaltender, Girard and those two towers on the back end who hopefully sort themselves out.

If the AVS want to win a Cup or two, Sakic better signs at least another 2 great players.
A goalie and a star center who takes pressure away from Mack.
Look how many Cups the teams won which were full of stars back then. I know that was a different era. But the point is Sakic has to improve this team a lot.

Show me the #3 center who is available who embodies speed, grit and size.

Stastny could provide offensive ability, responsible two-way play, and experience. I think we stand a better chance of acquiring those three traits you covet in wingers and defensemen.

Also, he was out injured for most of that series. He can hardly be blamed for their loss. Meanwhile, he was actually an integral part of Winnipeg's sweep of the Oilers. Most Jets fans would love to see him re-sign with them.

Girard is someone I'd explore trading if and only if Byram proves he can be a top 4 defenseman. I don't think it's sustainable to have four puck-moving, midsize/small defensemen as your top 4, and Girard looks like the one to move based on his play in the playoffs. Otherwise, I think you just roll with him and his great contract and accept that he needs to have a diminished role in the playoffs.

As for Burakovsky - I totally agree. I think people forget how terrible it was when we didn't have anyone outside the top line who was a genuine threat to score every time they shot the puck. Bura is a genuine sniper, but he's not a line driver. Playing him with Jost or Compher just isn't going to cut it. Jost likes to play a hard cycling game, and that's just not Burakovsky's style. He needs a center who can work with him on the rush, draw defenders to them, and find him when he gets open. Basically MacKinnon, but Bednar refuses to move Rantanen of Nate's wing, and despite them trying it about a million times, Bura-MacKinnon-Rantanen just doesn't work.

Seth Jones time.

Big - check
Columbus - check
I’m down. Sneak Merzlikins in too. Even if Byram isn’t top 4 quality to start the year I’m confident he will grow into that role by season’s end with Seth Jones as his sheltering partner.

I really don't think it's the speed formula that doesn't work. It's that the team is "built on speed" but then they have a bunch of players that can't play that style. It's like having a Formula 1 team, and then your last car is a Geo.

I would agree that we need some form of physicality, but I don't know how that works under Bednar. Beds seems to neuter all the physical players.

I'd like Hampus or Fowler from Anaheim.

Manson's been injured too much lately.

And doesn't need to be traded for or signed for more than two years.
