What’s comical is how much Sakic was torn to shreds on here, similar to what we’re reading about Blake, in his first couple of seasons as Avs GM. My how things have changed after making some homerun picks who developed nicely for them.

Have fun reading this.
Move over Jim Benning, Joe Sakic is the worst GM in the NHL (long)

Or this.
Joe Sakic's legacy

He was ripped to shreds prematurely because he held out on trading Duchene. That turned out to be the right call though, he handled that situation perfectly.

You you just broke the reality of a few members on here. I won't name names but they have Raitis Ivanans and Alex Frolov posters on their bedroom ceilings.

Specifically this one.

I'm also adamant in not getting rid of McLellan. At a certain point the players on the ice need to sack up and get it done. A 4-0 loss with 26 SOG against a team you're supposedly fighting with for the final playoff spot is embarrassing and totally on the players. McLellan is a Stanley Cup Champion, won a Calder Cup as a head coach, has been to a couple conference finals as a head coach, and has over 400 wins as a head coach. He is a very smart hockey mind and a great coach that has won at every level. This team needs to man the f*** up, it's embarrassing. Blake needs to get a couple gamers this offseason that will give these players a swift kick in the ass. All we hear about is culture, but these performances reflect a culture of complacency and losing, just going through the motions.

I'd get rid of the vets and Macllelan

What grips me? WHY does Todd break up successful lines, when one finally gels?

Jad, Grundstrom, Moore was the best line for about 5 or 6 games, EVERY night and then they may have been a little off for 1 game,
and he breaks it up? YET, keeps a failing Brown on line 1, after he's losing it more and more each game. Put AA on line 1.

Brown, last 25 games (6+ weeks!) 5 goals and minus 13 ! And really getting beat on the boards for first time in his career.
And botching plays, unlike ever before. So, move him to line 3.

Then Gabe, Kempe and Moore were the best line last game and he breaks them up? WTAF? Puts Wagner with them?
Wagner cannot handle a puck and rarely makes an NHL level play with one. SHTTT.
Gabe had his best game in 2 months and he removes Moore and puts ECHL Wagner with him again?

Tired if the dual standard with Clague and Andersson. Need Clagues speed and offensive instincts, as the Kings' D has the least
amount of shots in the NHL. Andersson gets 1 game and scores a goal with 2 defenders on him at the goal - one of the few Kings
that goes to the net - and he does it when playing with scrubs like Luff and Wagner - and he almost had 2 more that game.
And the next game, he was ok and looked fine and then sent down again. BS! He has legit skills, shot, goes to the net, MAKES PLAYS, skates
fine...and never gets a legit chance. It's Bullshtt. Goes to Ontario and has 14 pt in 13 games, 3 shorties and a few wicked shots.
It's baffling why he does not get a real chance. Massively more skill and talent then Lizotte, Wagner, Luff, and Lemieux.

I hope Todd does not find out Moverare is best friend's with Lias...he will probably get screwed too.

You nailed this. Todd’s decision making this year has been head scratching to the max. I don’t want him fired but he seriously needs to make better decisions.

Maatta was acquired to be exposed in the expansion draft. He’s a placeholder.

Whose place is Maata keeping holding?

Name one other player on any other team acquired to expose in the expansion draft.

Hint, same answer works for both questions.

On the defensive side of the puck, this is one of the key reasons the Kings liked the idea of acquiring Olli Maatta. The only other blueliners currently part of the organization who meet the games played threshold are Walker and Roy. If they decided to protect those players, they would need to acquire a player (via free agency or a trade) who was under a two-year contract. Thus, signing a free agent on a one-year deal this month, like what they did with Ben Hutton last year, wouldn’t have helped them with the Expansion Draft. Matta does, because he’s under contract for two seasons and has already met the games played number.

One move Blake can make is sign Landeskog and get the f... rid of Dusty Bottoms and Yafallo as they are not numero uno talent and skill worthy of the first line

Kings should sign Landeskog this year and Kubalik next year...that would fill my prescription of front line wingers for Kopi-Stars last 2-3 seasons! Who knows maybe it adds 3-4 more years to his career

I’m aware of the company line about Maata from the team mouthpieces.

It’s spin, just like saying Maata was brought in to help Doughty and the proof was they skated together during the offseason.

They could have signed anyone else to fulfill that requirement. Maata was brought in to improve the team. Another failed move is the bottom line.

They were gonna go into this season not having anybody not named Roy or Walker to expose, it's an unfortunate accident that MacDermid has played so much.

Seems like some posters are completely clueless about this. Ah well, let them be. It’s their choice if they aren’t grounded in reality and thought Maatta was going to come in and be the next Willie Mitchell or Rob Scuderi.

I feel like pretty much everyone realized this past off-season what the Kings were going into the season. A rebuilding team whose best players are not up yet and will be in the bottom 1/3rd of the league.....and if all goes well could make a run at the last playoff spot. But ultimately would end up in the 6-12th range standings wise. I believe about 85-90% (at least) fell into that general opinion.

But when games start with the up and (mostly) down happens with some reality of bad hockey that results from such a team.....fans forget and start to lose their minds and sense of reality. It's a process. To me, we are pretty much exactly what we expected us to be right now.

I happy with the overall direction of the franchise since 2017. I don't really like Robitaille, but the organization has done exactly what they should be doing; hoarding picks/prospects.

It's taken 4 drafts to get the pipeline to where it is now. It will probably take another 2-4 years before it really translates to the on ice product at the NHL level.

People who want the organization to make moves to improve the NHL roster right now are like children who want instant gratification. A patient long term approach is the key to success in nearly all things.

100% agreed, the macro picture is exactly as expected

But on the micro...getting shitcanned 4-0 in a must-win game vs. a roughly equal opponent pisses me right off a whole lot more than it did the players apparently. There's a pattern of being completely noncompetitive and shitting the bed vs. equally matched opponents that needs to be handled.
