Maybe Frost scores a few, maybe not. But he’d have been replacing Grant in the lineup. I find it hard to believe that he could have sucked any more than Grant. And, because why not, maybe, just maybe, he could have given a badly struggling pp a lift.

same. I think we should make trades or signings after expansion. I would just keep everyone, ghost included. Is it really worth getting just a pick for him? We can always trade ghost after playoffs next year. More than happy to trade jvr UNLESS we get a bad player back. If we do a trade like that, just keep ghost/jvr and go for a big run next year. I think if we relegate laughton to the 4th line he wouldn't score as much and could then get a cheaper contract. I wouldn't mind laughton resigning if he stays in the 2 million area
No. But if they won’t play him over hagg. Than get something

Grant was scratched in game 7, so you know the reason Frost was held out wasn't because they thought grant was playing well.

Playing a former first round pick at age 20 on the third line is a low risk high reward scenario.

Playing useless veteran plugs with next to no offensive upside on the third line is a medium/high risk low reward scenario.

The Flyers time and time again choose the 2nd option, and there are 40+ pages of posts itt of people defending this braindead train of thought. This is why the Flyers organization hasn't won a cup in almost 50 years, and is the garbage mentality that will always keep a championship out of reach.

I agree. Either acquisition would be exciting. Fletcher's father loved making big trades. Chuck showed what he is willing to do with the gutsy Hayes move, and there's little doubt in my mind he's interested in another major move to add some goal scoring and dynamism. The type of players on the market right now don't come along very often, and if you can hit on that LeClair/Desjardins type trade you can vault yourself into perennial contender.
It certainly seems like there some teams out there looking to shake things up and potentially make some big moves. We'll see if anything comes to fruition or if it's just a bunch of talk. Either way I expect Fletcher to try especially since they won't be players in free agency.

The reason they haven't won a Cup is they haven't developed a franchise goalie since Parent, except Pelle, and crap happens.

When your choice is a rookie who isn't ready and veterans who've passed their expiration date, the problem isn't the HC, it's the organization failing to obtain sufficient depth.

Teams that compete for long periods not only have depth on the NHL roster, but they maintain a full pipeline of prospects.
That allows them to marinate players in the AHL (or leave them in college) so when they do come up, they are NHL ready and can help the team win now, instead of loading the roster with young players who are a year or two away.

You simply don't know who is going to succeed, but the odds of succeeding increase when a player gets to develop their game in a low pressure situation where they are allowed to make mistakes - which is not the environment of a team expecting to go deep into the playoffs. Rebuilding teams can play young rookies (though how often does that Pejorative Slur their development, OEL for example).

Flyers are approaching "top franchise status," they no longer have to rush prospects, they can encourage York and Brink to spend 3 years in college without leaving a hole in the roster, for example (doesn't mean they will, but there's no temptation to rush them).

Why feed the troll? Thats what they want. Every time you respond, they win.
Did you other stop and think that maybe, JUST MAYBE there are people who simply have differing opinions than you and that they aren't trolling. If that's your way of viewing things you must think most of the world are trolls since people in general disagree dramatically on an extremely wide variety of topics.

Nah. I know a contrarian troll when I see one. For example, you and I often disagree but I dont consider you a contrarian troll.

Half this place has the poster im talking about on ignore so this shouldnt come as a big surprise and you certainly shouldnt waste time white-knighting for him.

Reminder: Frost had 7 points in 20 games...all at ES. That is a 29 point pace.
Farabee paced for 30 ES points this year.
Nolan Patrick paced for 25 and 33 ES points in his 2 years.

Lots of us said we were quite fine with Frost posting a 30 point rookie season.
Fair points but both Farabee and Patrick were/are more physically mature and better as all around players than Frost. It's not an insult for people to think Frost is a very good but not great prospect who has a lot of tools but also needs to work on some things before he becomes an NHL regular. I really don't understand where this chasm is coming from in regards to Frost. Maybe I missed it but I haven't noticed anyone saying he isn't a good prospect or anything extreme like that.

They no longer have to rush prospects? How many prospects have they rushed in the last 10 years, out of curiosity.

Ok well I guess I'm going to have to take your word for it. Also I appreciate you not writing me off as a troll, which is something I get all of the time, because I have differing opinions than the majority. I might strongly disagree with people on things about the Flyers but I'll be the first to admit that this place and the world in general would be extremely boring if everyone agreed all of the time. The only people who bug me are the ones who feel like everyone should think like them, which for the record I don't feel like you or Tripod are. I disagree with both of you quite a bit but respect you both as posters here.

Lindblom had returned by then and Laughton was back at center. Frost should have played during the 3 seeding games and quickly replaced Grant in the Habs series. Grant was awful. It was poor asset management by the coach.

Manning, VdV . . . :sarcasm:

TK was definitely rushed, he should have stayed in junior hockey another year, maybe even start in the AHL the following season.
Laughton was rushed and then sent back the following year.
Patrick probably should have gone back to the CHL until he was 100% after his second surgery.

More recently, Hextall became conservative about rushing prospects as the roster began to fill out.
This year a number of players were "force fed" before they were ready due to injury, Rubtsov, Kase, Twarynski, Bunnaman, Frost, Farabee.

Now if you want to argue we need a better run AHL franchise, I can get on board.

I’m still waiting for any of the anti-Frost squad to give even one valid reason for why Farabee is a better prospect than Frost.

As usual, the simple answer seems to be that the staff played Farabee more than Frost and the shills cant disagree with them. Otherwise nothing valid has been mentioned.

You think TK, the player who lead the team in regular season scoring this year, was rushed? Playing another year in the CHL as opposed to the NHL would have developed him more?

Also, all those more recent players minus Farabee aren't playing in the NHL yet, so I don't understand how they can be considered rushed.

yup. he can get favorable matchups as well and play majority of his time starting in the ozone...we said the same about Patrick possibly breaking out because he would get easier matchups...excited to see frost and how he handles it

i honestly don't know what both can end up being but Frost definitely has more offensive upside .. I see farabee as someone like guentzel. Just a guy who can do it all and has a really high IQ. I think farabee will be used in different roles that frost (at least early in their careers)..like pk and stuff, but frost can get there too. Both of those guys on one line are scary in the future..

Frost, to me, is definitely more important in how he can impact the flyers. His position is something that was one of the main reasons why we were so ass in the playoffs. His role, and how fast he develops, can really change this team up too. Before the year started, I always thought that Patrick would be our 3C and eventually move into that 2c role. Hopefully frost can do that now cus I couldn't stand to being so ineffective with hayes

tk had nothing to learn/gain from another year...same with frost in ahl. Get that guy on the team and let him get nhl time. He will have 2 great wingers on his line at all times if AV plays it right in g/voracek/farabee/jvr/lindblom/tk. Those are some great wingers to put with a rookie center. Put frost and ghost in positions to succeed and this team will take off. I wanna win a f***ing cup man, f*** tampa

These prospects must be coddled like baby birds.

Do we have anyone to volunteer as Head Regurgitator?
