Not sure if you're serious? The Lucic trade is 1 of the worst in history...
Totally serious
Your comment was out of left field and I don't think anyone would have drawn that conclusion.
My first thought when I see the name Connor is McDavid, as I think most people's are.
Once you mentioned Lucic, I now realize that you are talking about Kyle Connor

I was responding to the mention of Kyle Connor by Ziggy...

In Kings history, sure, but not in NHL history.

Shit, it probably isn't even a Top 5 worst trade in Kings history. There are numerous trades where the Kings received basically zero contributions from the acquired player but the player/pick they sent away crushed it like Borque and Murphy. I know the same thing is happening with the Lucic deal but at least they actually got a good season out of him v. the return they received in other brutal deals.

The dealt draft picks that turned into Ray Bourque, Phil Housley and Tom Barrasso are among the worst, but according to Bob Miller, the worst trade they ever made was a young Larry Murphy for two washed up vets.

It would’ve been equivalent to trading Doughty after his second season for Brad Stuart and Patrick Eaves.

Friedman on 31 thoughts said that the Oilers were trying to sign Jesse Puljujarvi to make it easier to trade. Hasn't happened yet since Puljujarvi wants to control his destiny apparently. Also stated the Jesse needs to be in the NHL next season or else he doesn't see an NHL future for him. Remember, last summer LA was kicking tires to try and get Puljujarvi. Tweet below. Back then, Oilers wanted Lucic to be part of the deal. Today, that wouldn't be the case. The one thing LA is definitely missing is NHL players in their early 20s. Puljujarvi is 22. Only players that fits that is Kempe (23). I'm curious if this is something Blake tries to go at again.

Puljujarvi was a point per game player in Liiga and a +30. He is NHL ready. I wonder what the cost would be. A 2nd + B/C prospect? We have the assets to do that, but I wouldn't spend anymore than that.

Jets fan here, how do you guys feel about a trade for #2 for your choice of any of our wingers? Yes laine is included in this.
I’ll give you a reasonable reply ...

No Laine, he not a fan favorite in SoCal where we defend and can’t score much ;)

it would have to be Connor, your 1st (10 OA), and Vesalainen and maybe a sweetener of a B prospect like Stanley, as a project. We like em big here so we will leave Heinola alone.

Numerically, that’s a 10, 17, and 24 pick for the 2 plus the sweetener of “what the heck were you thinking drafting that lumberjack at 18”. ;)

On a 100 scale, 2OA is ~ 85 and the sum of all 4 of those 1st rounder values is ~ 70. (BlueBullet model I’m using) Which leaves the Kings paying the 15 value points for getting an established player in their prime on a decent paper in Connor.

And this would be us being extra generous. A hardass GM would probably ask for your second round pick as well.

You think that would work for you?

What was Todd's relationship like with poolparty at Edmonton, did Jesse like Todd or was Todd part of the reason he left?

Josh Morrissey and your first round pick would be enticing, but the Kings shouldn't be trading picks to be honest.

I am sure they will keep Bailey, just get rid of the performer. Would be a hell of a job for anyone to nab... I am sure it will be decided nepotistically :P

This implies they could have kept Williams. Getting Lucic, if anything, was the response to being unable to keep Williams.
I think the Kings could have. Williams did sign with the Kings when his contract was up a few years back and it took him a few weeks to sign with Washington.

I can see where your coming from, it’s not a ridiculous. You’re also not considering Connor is signed long term. Not sure a sweetener is needed in that case, and I would debate not using our 10th pick and replace it with something else.

Hopefully the Kings take a hard look at the game presentation and make changes. Mascots are for children and should behave appropriately. Scraping the ice between whistles doesn’t require a staff full of D cups.

It really depended on what he was looking for. If he wanted a long term contract and money, that's a tough sell even to keep Justin Williams. But I do remember reading that he was really looking to get back to the East anyway because his family was there.

I think Williams saw the writing on the wall as well. He's been on nothing but better teams than LA since he left while also getting to be back East.
