I don't know if I'd compare Stutzle's style to Palffy. Ziggy scored a ton of goals as a junior and in his draft year and prior to coming to the US. Stutzle only scored 7 goals all season in Germany. One of the best players in the world doesn't just score 7 goals at such a low level of competition. He is exciting to watch, but let's temper those expectations a wee bit.

People are forgetting that Ziggy was a 3 time 40 goal scorer before he even came to LA and averaged well over 30 goals per season while in LA. Hell, it's too bad he had health issues here. He averaged 39 goals per 82 games with the Kings. Stutzle is a disher, plain and simple, which is fine if he can score on 10%+ of his shots on goal. Palffy was a great goal scorer and became a good playmaker in LA.

And on top of all that, Ziggy also became a dangerous two-way winger and was constantly a scoring threat when killing penalties. Ziggy named Andy Murray as his favorite coach to play for, and I think it's because he was given the opportunity to play in all situations with the Kings.

Back to Stutzle, he only registered 88 shots on goal in 41 games and only shot at a 8% success rate. That needs to be better in the NHL.

Quick change of subject - but seems like Montour might be either not qualified in Buffalo or traded? Should Kings go after..?

Also, maybe not the right thread, but whether its Byfield or Stuzle 1st, who do the Kings take with the second round pick...?

Seems like the glaring need is a #1 D or scoring winger...will there be that type of player available? Also, what are the odds of the Kings taking another Clifford type...?

For anyone wondering about Wroblewski's coaching record, not that it should be the main point of hiring him:

Maybe a middle six winger or a middle/bottom pairing defensemen, nothing that will rock the boat for the Kings’ prospect pool. The only dman with clearcut #1 potential is Drysdale who will be taken in the top 10.

I wouldn't trade for Montour. He's not shown much growth and is gonna be 26 this year. He doesn't provide a significant upgrade on Walker if he does at all. Kind of a shame because he was unstoppable offensively at lower levels to make up for suspect defense and in the NHL he's just kind of there.

We will package up a couple of 2nd round picks and move up to the 20-25 range in the 1st round. I’d be very surprised if we don’t move up, guaranteed that we try to.

Saw a report that we are kicking the tires on Eichel. Vilardi and the 2OA +... Man dont know what to think about that. Do you think Byfield can be on the same page as Eichel. Im leaning that way. Thoughts?

Would give us one of the better 1-2 center punches in the league. Just don’t know if our depth is there yet. Kind of sounds funny saying that.

The one thing it does address is us being competitive faster and within the Kopitar and Doughty window.

Nothing guarantees that either Vilardi or or second overall pick do progress and become as good as Eichel is. I think management would immediately have to switch gears and at least one or two more free agents to help support the revamp. Unfortunately Eichel’s 10 mil a year eats into a lot of cap space.

I would have to do the trade but I don’t think Buffalo does.

My Chief Security Officer keeps yelling at me:

“...the heck do you follow that click-bait crap, especially the stupid hockey junk, you in California man, like do baseball or some normal shit”.

Yeah, and I heard Sens are trading their 3/5 for 1 OA.

Oh, and we are going after the 1OA too with a monumental offer of the 2, Vilardi and Turcotte... cuz we got Kupari and Thomas who will be just fine as 1/2C ...

[/comedy]

Eichel is super legit and still young. Missed leading his team in scoring as a 19 year old by four points and has since led Buffalo in scoring every year since. Hasn't scored fewer than 24 goals and had 36 in 68 games last season.

We will be extremely happy if the 2OA becomes as good as Eichel. Does that mean you trade 2OA, Vilardi and something else? I mean, if you still have Turcotte and believe in him then there aren't any worries about center depth moving forward.

Blake is eventually going to need to make a trade like this where a lot of potential we are attached to gets moved for a known quantity. Now might not be the right time as it is a bit early but, then again, you have to answer when opportunity knocks and Eichel being available is something Blake would have to take seriously.

The Sabres won’t be trading Eichel now, but I think if they suffer from another dismal season (which is highly probable), and Eichel wants out, then you strike. Take advantage of them like the Blues did with the O’Reilly trade.

With new management in place, the first thing their new GM does isn’t going to be to trade the face of the franchise.

For Eichel I'd do that in a heartbeat for the right price of course, but that's just me. However, whatever the price is that might be too much though to give up. I'm thinking Buffalo wants a massive haul for a top ten Center.

If Eichel is available, you trade Byfield and Turcotte/Vilardi and whoever else gets the deal done. Eichel might not be McDavid, but he’s just about the next best thing, and he isn’t even 24 yet.

Having Eichel and Kopitar down the middle would be unreal.

Or how about we keep Byfield, Vilardi, Turcotte and see who pans out while they learn from the legendary Kopistar (whose best by data is couple seasons ago), grow into contenders and then trade some other assets for your superstar?

We could even become as good as the Leafs!

My hope is we can get up the 14/15 spot (Edmonton/Pittsburgh) and get Seth Jarvis or Jan Mysak. They would be my ideal Top6 wingers for LA's new core

2nd round picks don’t get you into the top-15 alone. You would have to add a roster player (Kempe) or an A prospect (Kupari) or similar to even sniff the top-20.

It would be a step back IMO. Would stretch the timeline for the rebuild.

Id rather Yetti go for Big swings with the 2nd round picks, boon/bust kind of prospects. We good in the pipeline as is once we land that 2OA.

other than Kaliyev seems like everyone is more of a disher than a finsiher in LA's system.
