Reaves only fights "on his terms" so we haven't been able to see him fight MacD yet...wouldn't fight him in pre-season in Vegas because there is nothing in it for him, although The Code states that you are supposed to give young guys trying to make the NHL a chance just like veterans did when you were trying to break into the league.

Reaves is a monster but he is a total clown show and an embarrassment as the reigning HW champ.

Can't say a guy is a better mascot for his team than Reaves.

There’s a San Diego Gulls/Kings fan who posts here who absolutely hates MacDermid, because he’s put the hurting on a few chumps on the Gulls. The same team that employed Stu Bickel.

Now that more teams are out of the playoffs, it will be interesting to see what the pandemic price for a cap dump is. There's a flat cap, revenue is in the toilet, and fewer takers for those contracts, but people want to pay pre-pandemic prices to get rid of their cap dumps.

Got news for you trade board buddy. Not happening.

Hans bubby.

You shouldn't be talking to him Ellis.

The Hockey Writers have their midseason prospect rankings. Nothing more recent.

https://thehockeywriters.com/nhl-prospects/

Top Pool: Kings
Kings Top Prospect: Turcotte

NHL top 100 (previous)
86) Grundstrom (90)
73) Thomas (unranked)
67) Fagemo (95)
55) Björnfot
31) Kupari (39)
15) Kaliyev (26)
2) Turcotte (7)

RIP Gabriel Vilardi, kid was a fighter till the end, that's for sure

I looked for vilardi. there was only the one very brief mention in the top prospect pools list.

edit: Forgot to put in Björnfot was previously ranked 80.
All the prospects seem to be trending in the right direction but I am not sure if that is because the ones ahead of them graduated to the NHL.

I really wish MacDermid could play NHL-level defense. If he could skate decent shifts every night, that would be a huge lift for the Kings.
I think MacD is a fine NHL defenseman on a rebuilding team with a pipeline of fast And talented young skaters.

I’ll even say he might be the perfect fit right now.

He may not be the guy for a cup run, but he sure fits when building kids up into stars, IMO.

Yeah, I forgot Madden. I seached by Kings and missed him. I did post that there was nothing more recent from them than 9 months.

Having 8 of the top 86 prospects shows the strength of our pool. And that is before this upcoming draft.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they've got to show us next season.

Pronman is doing his yearly org rankings of all the teams according to their prospects/players 23 & under, so we should have something more recent that 9 months in the next week or two!

Not even mentioned, so if that's the case, does he even count as a prospect?

It's silly that our best prospect is neither thought of as "best" or "prospect"..... Oh well. We're sort of living in the Golden Age of Stupidity......

Maybe they consider Vilardi as graduated? He has only played 10 professional games, though. Weird.

Regardless, after we pick up Byfield, we will have two of the top five prospects in the world. Future is looking bright. Now Blake and co. actually have to transition all of these prospects into legitimate, productive NHLers.

I said this a couple years ago, but 21/22 will be the first season we really show improvement, with 22/23 being the year we make a strong push back to playoff contention. 22/23 is also a year in which a lot of contracts will finally be off the books.

I'm curious to see how well Kopitar and Doughty are still playing in 22/23 surrounded by a bunch of young talent again.

Seeing how a 35 year-old Bergeron and a 43 year-old Chara are performing on a team that finished with the best regular season record gives me hope that Kopitar and Doughty will still be significant players on a younger Kings roster.

Chara doesn't produce like he used to, but he's still in the top two in ice-time on the Bruins, and Bergeron is still the top center, and their second highest scoring center, David Krejci, is also in his mid-30s.

I think Kopitar and Doughty will still be important to this roster in the upcoming 2-3 seasons.

Hopefully by that time there's also a dman like a McAvoy who can also earn big minutes on the blueline. There's a massive gap right now between Doughty and the next best defenseman on the roster.

I don't think any of our kids are going to grow that much before next season either.
That should be our on FA acquisition
