we need another veteran or two on the back end to support Doughty and bring more leadership. I really wish we had a Greene type. I hope the kings make some low cost deal for Kulikov. I’m not sold on McDermid or Walker.

David Savard is a UFA this summer. I think the Kings should have interest.
We also need to move on a LD man to add some offense too.

Why are we talking Eichel? I drafted him in the 1st round of my fantasy league and he's been horrible.

It's funny how the deepest position in this org is center and we are talking about adding a center. Kings should be looking at a goal scoring winger and a top 4 D under 25.
You mean Stutzle? Woops never mind.

I don't think Walker can play with the cage, he has been MacD bad since he returned from the injury. I don't know when he can return to just a visor but the sooner the better.

I mean he played with a cage for 4 years in college, maybe he's just having some post rubber to the face jitters.

Looking thru hockeydb kings stats.

Most catching stat - Amadio - 17 games 0 goals, 2 assists and -3.

Also shows how Kings really haven’t had one prospect really break thru. 4 of the top 6 scorers are over 30. The other two are Kempe and Iafallo.

and that's with plenty of pp time. I'm sure the waiver wire will start heating up any time now.

The Kings shouldn't make any trades for players who have to be protected before the expansion draft. Not only are you giving up assets for said player, but you're also moving a player you would normally protect to the exposed list. I just don't see anyone out there at this point worth it.

Yes and no. It depends on who they might get that makes it worthwhile. At this point I'm only seeing 2 D that need protection (DD/MR). That leaves a 3rd slot open on D and plenty open for forwards. However, I'm not expecting a player worthwhile to be available before the end of the season.

i agree that it has to make sense from an expansion stand point, so likely a deal for defense, I think, makes the most sense after expansion.

However if you are trading for a guy like Eichel who would take multiple assets it could actually reduce the guys you feel need to be protected.

Just needs to make sense.

I don't want to trade for Eichel until we figure out what his injuries are. A number of sabres fans say he's got an upper body injury ever since the start of the season. Is this something that would require surgery? If that's the case, what if he's not the same afterwards?

I want to see him fully healthy first. And that probably means next offseason in 2022 (right before his NMC kicks in) and not this upcoming one.

If I were blake, I would look at Dahlin on draft day. Considering that there hasnt been any reported contract talks + the sabres are "wide open" he could be a target and we have the assets. We aren't going to find a gamebreaking 1LD in the free agency this year, and what other solid LD is available? Werenski?

fair...or does it create a bye low window like the injuries with Willie Mitchell or Justin William?

I think Eichel is fantasy as the big focus to use LA's assets on should be LHD.

I would give a lot for either of those guys.

I think Dahlin would cost more than he's actually worth. He has been pretty disappointing in his young career, but we aren't paying reclamation project prices. If the cost is Byfield+, does anyone do it? To his credit though, he's in arguably the worst situation he could possibly be in. Moving to LA to play with Doughty or Roy would be a huge move for him.

Also, it is what it is, but I'm going to have such a hard time moving Turcotte if we ever do. He just reminds me so much of Mike Richards, who might be my favorite player of all time. A guy like that might have a short shelf life, but he's worth his weight in gold.

Dahlin and Eichel scare me because they have both been thrown to the wolves with little help. That can destroy a players confidence and career.

Yeah. That's one reason I am leary of Eichel. Some Sabres fans have said that when the Sabres get behind, Eichel tends to give up. Not sure how accurate that is since I don't watch the Sabres. But it is concerning.

All they know is losing. That has to have some sort of effect on a player.

I just can't imagine the sabres trading away Dahlin. Very rare and very hard to obtain potential high end defenseman as we all know.

Seth Jones is the only one that i can think of in recent memory, but that was a very unique situation

Eichel would be brought into an organization that’s best players Kopitar, DD and Brown have won cups and know how to win. Has Doughty taken a game or two off- yes. Would he say something to Eichel if he started that - Yes.

could you imagine just how good Kopi would be if teams didn’t put there best shut down players out against him. Could you imagine how good Eichel could be with other teams put in their best checking lines out against a different line.

either player has had any type of support from any other lines for the last five years. LA would have a wicked two headed monster if Kopitar and Eichel were your top two centers and imagine Turcotte and JAD being number three and four.

teams win with depth. Eichel has never had a player like Kopitar, Doughty or even Quick in a dressing room with him. Just think sky’s the limit

And the problem is you trade depth in other positions, where you're weaker, to bolster a position where you're already strong.

Kings didn't just win by strength of center depth.
