Yeah. Kings are one of the few teams with the assets and cap space to do it. I really don't think they want to send him to the rangers and have to read about and face him all the time.

Detroit has the cap space but I am not sure about the pieces.

Some of the sharks fans think they have the pieces to trade for him. I am not nearly as familiar with their farm system as others but is this really the case?

Depends what Buffalo wants. If they want straight futures I do not see how San Jose has the assets. Given cap Buffalo would have to be interested in Burns, Karllson or Couture (no chance they bring Kane back).

I just don't see those two teams as good partners.

yeah vilardi kneed him in either the head or the shoulder huh? i saw the phrase "banged up" a couple times, that plus day-to-day makes me hope it's not a concussion

i went back and saw a reverse angle, seemed like when he went to retrieve his stick he was hunched over so he was definitely favoring something, but i can't tell if that was nursing dizziness or a shoulder stinger

regardless, i think cal's up to the task, he's been getting good work in and playing well. good problem to have i guess

maybe a neck thing

That's what I thought. Some big contract would have to go to the sabres. Couture is older. Hertl is injury prone. The others are even older than that. I just didn't see it.

Could only see a Werenski trade working out with Columbus if it were a 3 way trade. Blue jackets want a #1 center and we don’t have anyone to trade that qualifies that isn’t a prospect...

Kings send prospects to team 3, team 3 sends #1c to Columbus, Lumbus sends us Werenski.

How’s about...

Kings get Werenski from Columbus
Columbus gets Eichel from Buffalo
Buffalo gets JAD, LAK first rounder, Columbus 1st rounder

Why the hell would Buffalo do that?

Why are we talking Eichel? I drafted him in the 1st round of my fantasy league and he's been horrible.

It's funny how the deepest position in this org is center and we are talking about adding a center. Kings should be looking at a goal scoring winger and a top 4 D under 25.

The franchise center turns 34 this year.

The #1 center prospect is probably a couple of years from making any kind of impact in the NHL.

The #2 center prospect has struggled to generate offense since being drafted.

Vilardi emerging has made your point more valid. But can the Kings win a championship with Kopitar-Vilardi as the center duo before Kopi begins to really slow down?

Id like our chances to win the SC better with Gabe as a 1st or 2nd line rw next to either AK or Eichel.

Buffalo is getting robbed. Kings do it, not sure the Jackets would. They need a center but trading Werenski opens up a hole.

Kings send Walker to Clb. Lumbus sends another considerable piece to Buffalo...

Anderson-Doughty
Werenski-Roy
Bjornfot/Maata-Strand

I think by the time we contend again Kopitar is our 3C. So it’s something like ... Byfield, Vilardi-Kopitar-JAD down the middle. If we make a big move it’s for someone like Dahlin, so for arguments sake you send Turcotte, Anderson plus picks to Buffalo.... whatever the price is. But that’s where we make the big move... one of the C prospects, plus Anderson (too good for 3rd pair so I keep Björnfot over him), plus a couple of first rounders to get an elite left sided D.

Then in a few years as the current prospects mature we are contenders with Kopitar the 3C and Doughty the 2D shutdown guy.... it fits our roster structure much better than making moves to bring in another C and then later a LHD. That way we burn one lot of assets not two lots. Being impatient won’t get us there any quicker but likely costs us an extra couple of 1sr round picks. It means can keep bringing high end players through and stay competitive on a long term basis.

With the expansion draft this summer and dumping some contracts along with Brown\Carter possibly getting moved next season at the TDL. There is going to be another overhaul of players within a year or so.

A few of the prospects should make the the roster... first wave; Kupari, JAD and Fagemo come to mind with a few more the season after. Where we need to be careful is filling the squad with 20-22 year olds with no bridge\Vet players to support them. Plugging in a 21 year old to replace Carter and Brown without regressing is almost a pipe dream. Unless that 21 year old is a special player they won't produce at those level for a few years.

I feel AA and Moore are good players to keep for that reason. Balance out some scoring on multiple lines. I am a big fan of Moore and his work ethic. But we need to add 1 or 2 new bridge\Vets to the squad with some size and skill after Brown\Carter. Even a Palmeri type of player for example would help for a few years to offset the production loss until the higher end prospects start scoring.

Ultimately the pressure to replace that production will fall on the shoulders of Vilardi\Kempe. And if Kopitar regresses next year it will be even more of a load to carry for them.

On D is where we should prioritize the focus on getting bigger and add some pop. We have no other D man scoring a goal other than Drew and yes that 1 goal by MacD. We also need to add a crease clearing D man who can be both physical and mobile. We have both the assets and cap space to make this happen.

I think Brown either retires or starts signing one year deals with LA.

If Brown and Carter weren't moved by now, they won't be unless they request it.

The reason for keeping them is to teach the prospects how to nhl hockey and be steadying influences in the clubhouse. That role won't end after this season. There will be another wave of rookies next year. That group will be larger than the group breaking in this season. Byfield, Turcotte, Kupari, Kaliyev, Fagemo, Thomas, Madden, etc.

Kopitar can't do it alone. Carter and Brown will be needed more than ever. I can see Brown doing a series of 1 year contracts if he wants to come back.

Jake DeBrusk is a healthy scratch for the Bruins tonight..I am hearing the Bruins are trying to trade him and may have a possible suitor...His play has been really sketchy this season."""

Hmmm. What think? Would love to have DeBrusk on line 2 and remove Carter off that line and put him down to line 3.

Was he the one they took with the Kings pick from the Lucic disaster? I know they had a bunch of picks near each other, would be full circle.

Would depend on the return, if it's a draft pick I think the Kings should consider it, the farm system is so loaded they don't really need more middling type picks.

we need another veteran or two on the back end to support Doughty and bring more leadership. I really wish we had a Greene type. I hope the kings make some low cost deal for Kulikov. I’m not sold on McDermid or Walker.

San Jose fans holding onto that like leaf fans and gretzky's high stick

i agree with everything you have said other than Kulikov

Kulikov was rumored to draw interest from the Kings in free agency. He’s a left shot, 2 way defender on a cheap one year deal. Shouldn’t cost the Kings much, maybe mid-late round pick. There’s literally no risk, which is right up Blake’s alley.
