honestly when army hops in, i start listening

really like that dude, he actually seems like a genuine personality instead of a tv personality

Army is absolutely one of the most genuine, funny, down to earth people I've ever met inside or outside hockey, haha.

I've played a few times at Staples with Army and he is a riot. Good fun chirping the entire time. Chirping me on goals and saves.

I think Faust has a nice announcer voice and I was relieved at first at his hire. It wasn't like listening to nails on a chalk board like some broadcasters are.

However, as time goes on, it's clear he brings out the worst in Jim Fox and it's also clear that he really doesn't understand the game or recognize what is going on as quickly as you think someone in his position should.

So, it could we be worse and with a winning team it will seem better.

I remember when they were rotating commentators the season Bob was ill. I'd say almost all of the people that "tried out" were superior to Alex.

I can't tell if he doesn't understand or just isn't interested in what is going on. My wife likes to crochet while watching the game and she was constantly frustrated because Faust refuses to actually call the game. Since she isn't watching constantly she enjoys hearing the call to know what is going on and when to look up. I hadn't noticed as much because I am watching, but once she pointed it out I was amazed at how little he actually talks about what is actually going on in the game.

Faust has a good voice and has gotten better. He just doesnt see the game or maybe he just doesnt know the game well enough. Half the whistles he doesnt know why until after the ref makes the call. Its like he has never played before and has little sense of whats going on if its not where the puck is. The broadcast as a whole is pretty whack with the chatter instead of calling the game. And all the tweets and dog stuff. Ive been so mad about it the last couple years and am over it now and just do other things during intermission. Also instead of showing replays of a penalty or something theyll cut to a segment of iafallo making a scrub play on the boards that led to nothing like we didnt see it in real time and its an all star play. We must come to terms with the fact that we are not the target audience they are reaching out to cause we will watch regardless. Though Stoll is cool and I used to love daryl evans on am radio.

I listened to Faust doing college football this last year, and he was decent. Well, decent in that he's better at it than hockey. But hockey I think is the most difficult. The play moves so quickly, not everyone can do it.

He called some tennis last year (French or US Open can’t recall) and he did a solid professional job.

A trade thread got me to checking if lucic still lives in southern CA. I checked his Facebook and he posted a picture of him and willie mitchell on mitchell's boat in vancouver from father's day 2020 if anyone is interested.

I approve of the boat name. :thumbu: Maybe not so much mitchell's beard though.

Would 100% take Jack Edwards over Faust.

Doughty-Anderson
Maatta-Clague
Alt-MacDermid

f***ing yikes.

When did they send Doughty down to Ontario? There's no way an NHL team could possibly ice this bad of a defense...

Where's Peter Harrold? Tom Preissing? Can we sign Oscar Fantenberg? Holy shit this is brutal! I bought NHL.tv for this?

I'd be shocked if MacD and Alt are a pair. They'd have to shake something up if Roy and Walker are out. It's good that they don't play again until Tuesday.

And this is why I was advocating a depth D man signing in case of injury, and to take the load off of Doughty. Of course its Roy that gets injured...

Top 4 guys in ES min; Kopitar, Iafallo, Brown, Carter.

Goals at ES; Iafallo(1), Carter(1), Kopitar(1), Brown(0).

Lizotte has 2.

Despite that, the Kings are 11th in GF(23rd in GA though). They're also legitimately a .500 team, not just NHL .500. But -5 in 5v5 goal differential.

Of the 40 goalies that have played at least 170 min, Quick is 34th in sv%. Ahead of both Pittsburgh goalies, a former Pens goalie in Ottawa, former Quick backups Bernier and Jones, and tied with Lehner.

Pittsburgh is being saved by post regulation points right now.

There's only so much depth you can have. Normally, you have to fill 2 rosters, and guys need to play. A 13-14 Kings situation doesn't happen often. And that only happened because Martinez and Muzzin were at $1m each. If they made any kind of money, say goodbye to at least one of Mitchell, Greene, or Regehr.

There aren't many defenses in the league that will look good if they lose 2 of their top 4 or 5.

Are you suggesting that excessive use of the word "nervy" does not positively correlate with one's grasp of NHL knowledge???

The Kings have won 3 games and lost 5 games. The fact that they have 8 points in 8 games doesn't make them a ".500 team". Using your term, it makes them technically an "NHL .500" team. Semantics, but let's not pretend the Kings have been good or even okay so far this year.

They're porous on defense and getting caught in transition. Turnovers are a constant problem. It's a struggle to score at full strength for this team. At least they're more entertaining than last year.

Their 3-3-2 record during regulation makes them a real .500 team. I stopped putting any worth into OT or SO wins back in 16-17 or so, when the Kings were great in OT, but still missed the playoffs by 10 points or whatever. Not the OT and SO points don't count in the standings.

But yes, they're not a great team. They have one of, if not the least experienced defenses in the league. The guys that still get the most ice time are in their early to mid 30's. They consistently get scored on first, usually pretty early in games.

However, they haven't been .500 in regulation 8 games into a season since 17-18. That's a little bit of progress. But, unless they do something about it, the flaws will get more exposed the larger the sample size gets.
