So........ I know Columbus just traded for Laine but do you think they would move them for a slew of prospects and possibly a couple NHL ready players?

It just seems that Columbus and LA would be way better trade partners than LA and Winnipeg. Columbus has those young studs on the D line and no prospect base to speak of. Looking at the roster I’m not sure who Laine is going to play with?

I know he comes with warts, but would I ever love to see him paired with Vilardi on a power-play.

I'm debating between Lizotte and Miles Wood in a dynasty keeper league with mainly offensive stats, but I'm concerned if Vilardi overtakes Lizotte in the top 6. With Lizotte not getting tons of production nor PP time, I'm wondering if I should take the hot hand in Miles Wood and hope his deployment keeps up. What do you guys think? Do you think Lizotte can take another step offensively?

He’s best suited for third line/energy role.

I don't think Lizotte has much more offensively in him. I can't even remember the last time he took a shot. His value is in playmaking and checking, tenacity. He's smart enough to play with the top lines, so that might make him look like there's more to it, and I feel like he should start at least racking up assists by osmosis, but at least Wood is crashing the net and you know what you get there. You could probably hang onto Wood until his production falls off then grab a lottery ticket with Lizotte since no one else will be looking his way

From TMAC:

On Lias Andersson
Competitiveness. He has some of Blake Lizotte’s qualities maybe, where he’s tenacious on pucks, he gets good body position over top, he wins more battles than he loses, he seems to have a good sense of what’s going on on the ice, and the utility of being able to play center or wing. We’ve had him in penalty kill situations too. So those are all advantages that he has to use for him as an individual, but also for us as a team.

Lias permanently in lineup confirmed

I get why the Rangers were disappointed with this guy at 7OA and a top-six role but at our value and in a depth role he's a steal, not many guys with his instincts that can thrive in the bottom six.

That was fast...

You know you’ve been bad when you got from Top pair to out of the lineup after 3.5 games.

Yeah Todd said some nice things about it--we just want to give him a 'reset,' it was maybe a lot to take in learning Doughty, playing on the top pair, time off, learning new system, etc.

But we all saw what we saw haha.

Agree. I just think him and Grundy are a different set of players that when we don't have it in the lineup we know what we are missing.

The Jackets roster is set up to win now. It was with PLD, and is with Laine.

What NHL ready players do the Kings have other than Vilardi?

Kings didn't have the pieces that Jackets wanted, they were one of the teams that inquired. Laine is the right age and potential to pot 40 goals. They are gunning for a deep run this year , so Laine fits.
He'll most likely be on the top line with Texier, who has been very good so far this year. Adding an elite talent like Laine, will boost his game.

Kempe? Roy?

I mean it wouldn’t have been enough, but those guys plus an A prospect woulda been the cost if Cbus was looking to go a different direction.

I don't think that gets the job done. Columbus needs a young, quality top 6 nhler to start and also an A+ prospect. We have the prospect but unless we part with Vilardi the King's don't have the pieces.

A big trade now is a bad option. We have a bunch of kids that are close to the NHL, but right now we don’t know who will or won’t make it. Until then we won’t know what holes we will need to fill on the roster. In a year or two we will know what we have and where we need help. We are bound to have extras depth at C and at that point we will know which of those C’s we want to make available.

Doing anything big now would be a huge gamble and reckless. If we make a big move it’s much more likely going to be for an elite D anyway. We have massive prospect depth at forward and an elite sniper in Kalyev in the system already. Turcotte is perfectly capable of playing wing, as will Thomas and then there’s Fagemo, Kupari and Madden. It not unrealistic ti think that we won’t need help up front.

A trade now would be exciting for a little while and we would very quickly end up with ‘buyers remorse’ when the team clearly isn’t ready for it and we still have a big hole on the blue line.

Keep calm and listen to @Statto

Kings are playing Ducks, Vegas and Blues in the next weeks. Those are big teams. If Kings decide to not play MacD I recommend a 4th line of Imama-JAD-Wagner. Still Amadio, Grunstrom and Moore. Keep Andersson with Vilardi-Brown.
