Any word on Shafigullin's supposed arrival? (not that it means anything to Kings, but to the Reign)

Sometimes some guys need to leave the team so that other players can step up. I'll miss Carter, but I hope it means that we'll have a 2C coming soon.

Wonder if AA and AI get traded now? There's no way Brown ever gets traded, right?

Brown is going to play his last game as a King. Undoubtedly.

Brown makes $4m next year.

It's probable that Carter is gone now because this will be his last year. I don't get why Pit would want a 37 year old Carter, but, maybe he gets great again there. If this were Brown's last year, and he was wanting to play meaningful hockey one last time, I could see him being ok with going somewhere. My guess would be we're 10 or 11 months from maybe having to worry about that though.

I think we're all surprised by the Carter trade. I think it's safe to assume the Kings went to Carter and talked to him about this before hand.

So the question becomes, who else have the Kings talked to about trading that we wouldn't expect?

One more year of Carter isn't much of a cross to bear for Pittsburgh, especially since they're not that far off from being in rebuild mode themselves. It looks like there might be a last hurrah gathering there.

No, and that's why the conditions on the picks will likely be restrictive. He might retire, but if he comes back, he will be 37.

With Carter traded, outside of the big four (Kopitar, Doughty, Brown, and Quick), there's only one player on the team with a cap hit greater than 3% of the total cap. Anyone want to guess who that is?

Let's just guess that Iafallo and Athanasiou do get traded. This is our lineup moving forward?

Kempe - Kopitar - Brown
Grundstrom - JAD - Moore
Andersson - Kupari - Vilardi
Lemieux - Lizotte - Wagner

We might not win another game this season

For me if Iafallo stays:
Iafallo-Kopitar-Brown
Athansio-Lizotte-Vilardi
Grundstrom-JAD-Moore (2nd and 3rd lines could be swapped easily)
Lemieux-Andersson-Kempe

if Iafallo is dealt:
Kempe-Kopitar-Brown
Lemieux-Andersson-Kupari/Luff/Wagner

Middle 6 stays the same.

Not sure if it will come into play or not, but with moving Carts for picks we now have two open contracts. This gives Blake some capacity to either pick up a salary dump player or sign one of their draftees.

i hope LA is the middle team like San Jose and Detroit have been to broker a deal and get a future pick back. LA does not necessarily need more picks but the more currency you have the easier it is to make future deals, either for players or to move up the draft

I assume this will be tonight line-up.

Iafallo-Kopitar-Brown
AA-Lizotte-Kempe
Grundstrom-JAD-Moore
Lemieux-Vilardi-Wagner

With Andersson and Luff floating around, Kings still can lose on forward. I would say Brown is next to go. That would allow one of Kupari, Kayilev, or Fagemo to move up to the show.

Or Kings dump Lizotte.

The Kings aren't trading Brown unless someone knocks their socks off with an offer and he's ok with leaving.

The expansion draft will probably solve one forward. Either Lizotte, Andersson or Wagner is gone. Maybe Maatta? Brown is done after next season. There will be spots soon.
